Story
Dolce is a total doll and such a love bug. She's not even two years old, weighs about 40 pounds, and adores cuddling under blankets. She can't get enough of her orange ball, which she chews like gum. Tug of war is a whole lot of fun, too. And water? Oh, yes, please! Dolce looooves water. She might even be part duck! This girl has had a rough life and will need a patient human willing to give her some time and space to settle into her new home. Dolce would prefer a home without little kids because she thinks they are kind of scary. Please call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 if you're interested in learning more about this lovely pup! Dolce is spayed and up to date on vaccines. She's eligible for a no- cost adoption with an encouraged donation to The Pet Connection. She's in the Kansas City metro, but we will transport her to the right home.

Story
Hitch is around a 8-10 months old and weighs just under 30 pounds. He is a sweet natured little guy that loves other dogs. He was found in the park with a sibling, and no on e came forward to claim him. Sadly Hitch has episodic neurological episodes that resemble focal seizures. We are unsure of the cause, but the plethora of vets we consulted believe his issues were likely caused by a distemper infection. Because of his special needs, he would be best suited for a quieter home without small children. He is unable to navigate stairs. All dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped, Heartworm tested (6 months and above,) and current on vaccinations and preventions prior to adoption. At the time of adoption all dogs are signed up with a unique Safe Paws QR pet ID tag, the adopter is required to maintain a monthly membership of $2.99/month for (at minimum) the first year. This helps insure your new furry family member makes his way back to you if lost. Leashes and collars are also required at the time of adoption. You are welcome to bring your own, or we have plenty to choose from at the shelter as well. If the pet you fall in love with is not quite ready for adoption, we do offer a $50 hold deposit that will insure you have first "dibs on adoption. Once an animal is available for adoption, we are not able to hold them, as there are so many animals waiting to come into our program. Our shelter is located at 10312 East 63rd Street in Raytown, MO. We are open to meet pets Tuesday through Friday from 10-6, and on Saturday and Sunday from 10-5. We are closed on Mondays. You are welcome to fill out our quick 10 question adoption survey to facilitate a quicker process. This will also start the meeting process for those animals in foster care: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/MARQ/Dog

Story
Hidey ho, my human friends! I'm Cress, a 2-year-old pittie mix looking for my purpose in life. Oh, and a home, I'm also looking for a home. More specifically, I'm looking for an active home that will give me a job to do. Not like a paying job, mind you! I'm thinking more along the lines of a volunteer job. For example, want to fetch balls? I'm your girl! Want to play frisbee? That's me! How about running? I'm down with that! Want to play hide and seek with treats? I'm all in! You see, I have high energy and drive and need mental and physical exercise to keep me healthy and happy. Once I'm done with my "job" I settle in for some love and affection. I'm a really good student if you give me consistent training. I already know "sit" and am a good treat taker. As a bonus, I seem to like other dogs, with the proper introduction. (You just can't rush finding the right friends -- am I right?) Think we might be a good match? Call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 for more information and to set up a meeting with me! Please contact The Pet Connection if you can foster, adopt, or sponsor a special needs dog or cat. 913-671-7387 Text. Www.thepetconnection.net.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Rey is an energetic and loving 4 year old dog. She is very sweet, loving, and cuddly. She's so cuddly, in fact, that you'd think she was a lap-dog. She loves kisses, tug-of-war, and fetch. She is a wonderful dog.  Rey loves people and other dogs. Rey gets along great with other dogs, but because of her high-energy, she sometimes rubs new friends the wrong way when they first meet her. Once she calms down, however, she's better received by new friends. We joke that she just loves too much :).  An ideal environment for Rey would be a home with a yard so she can get out her energy. It is also important that she be in a house with no children. She currently lives in a house with small children and has recently started snapping at one of them, which is why she is being re-homed. Despite that, she is a wonderful pet, but I just believe that our home is not the best fit for her anymore. Rey is very beloved to our family, and we love her very much.   Please reach out to Jami at jami.olsen4@gmail.com with any questions about this sweet girl!   The animal listed on this page was listed as a courtesy to help find the animal a home. "Well, she's amazing. And adorable. And THE BEST SNUGGLER. She likes to bury herself in blankets on the couch, then get down and run around like a little kid in a ghost Halloween costume. She has had a few canines removed but still chews bones just fine. Her kisses are just a lil extra gummy. She hates storms and will charge out the door barking at the sky like it offended her ancestors if there is thunder." It's Wednesday, a pretty pit bull mix looking for a patient and loving home! She's initially timid with new people and things but is an affectionate, fun pooch once she knows you and settles in. Wednesday will thrive in a home of her own. All it takes is some time and plenty of treats and she'll open up to you and let you into her world. Wednesday will be your loyal companion every single day of the week. Wednesday is staying in the Kansas City metro, but transport is available to the right home. With her adoption, you'll get the ongoing support of The Pet Connection for her training needs! Call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 any day of the week for more information on Wednesday! #thepetconnectionks #adoptdontshop #adoptWednesdaytoday

Story
Hi there, I’m Fletch! I’m such a good boy. When you see me wiggle my butt in pure joy at the mere sight of you, you’ll know we were meant to be together. I’m smart and playful and goofy and so affectionate. I’m the perfect combination of energetic and fun mixed with cuddly and chill. And there is simply no place on earth I’d rather be than right by your side. My life hasn’t always been easy, but that just makes me more grateful for everything good that comes my way. I will make the best companion for you, if you just give me a chance. I am handsome, strong, and athletic, with beautiful brindle fur, the cutest floppy ears, and a charming, delightful personality. I’m even already fully housebroken and crate trained too. I’ve been through lots of instability and change in my life lately. I was feeling stressed and nervous at the big shelter where I was staying, before getting rescued by the kind people at The Pet Connection. They understood my insecurities and quickly found a loving foster home for me. My foster family makes me feel safe and cared for and so special. Ah, I can finally relax. Now all I need is for you to find me and welcome me into your family! Living in my foster home has been fantastic! I quickly and happily settled in with my new routine. I stay in my crate at night and when no one is home, and I do really well there, after a little initial crying. I’m very well behaved in the house, and I try my best not to cause any trouble at all. I’m highly trainable and I pick up on new things quickly, so please teach me. I’m currently working on controlling my excitement level when I play. It will help me if you stay calm and easygoing with me, instead of engaging me in rough play. I’m eager to make you happy, and I’m ready to learn and experience everything life has to offer. Once I know I’m home, you’ll find me to be a mostly quiet, affectionate friend who loves to curl up next to you on the couch for plenty of kisses and snuggles, or to keep myself entertained with my toys. I like everyone I meet, but sometimes I can be jumpy, so I’ll probably be happiest in a home without small kids. I wouldn’t want to accidentally knock anyone over. I’m an active fella, and I will need daily exercise to help me stay happy, healthy, and calm. I absolutely love going for walks and I do quite well on my leash. I keep my distance from other dogs on their walks, and that works just great for me. I’d love a fenced yard to run and play in! I really enjoy being outside, but I’ve been known to jump high and chase things, so I am a flight risk. Please keep a close eye on me whenever I’m outside, and make sure my fenced area is safe and secure. I’ll be happiest as your only dog. I want all your love and attention for myself! Still, I might do OK with other chill, tolerant dogs, given a proper introduction. Mostly, I’m just looking for a home with patient, kind, calm people who want to spend time with me, who will encourage and reassure me when I get nervous, and who will help me realize that I’m finally home. That’s all I’ve ever wanted. Please call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 if you can give me the forever home I've been looking for. I'm in the KC area, but my human friends say we can go for a ride in the car (yay!!) to my new home, even if it's not right here in Kansas City. #thepetconnection #fletch #happy #socute #adoptdontshop

Story
Hi! My name’s Houston. I'm a four-year-old boxer mix boy and kind of a beefcake at around 80 pounds. (I'd argue that it's all muscle, too.) One of the things I want most in a forever home is a human friend to hang out with, not doing anything in particular, just a couple pals spending time together. Wouldn't that be amazing? I'm a little shy at first, but if you'll give me a few minutes to get to know you, we'll be besties. And I promise to be your snuggle pup! Really, though, I’m way too smart to laze around 24/7. I know sit, down, stay, high five, orbit, between, and wait. Learning tricks is one of my favorite activities and I can pick up new ones in just a day or two. I love to run outside and play in water from the hose. In case I wasn't clear enough on that, I LOVE PLAYING IN THE WATER!!!. My favorite game of all is tug of war. (I'll even let you win sometimes!) I’m kennel trained, house trained, and am good at being left alone. In fact, I do some of my best snoozing in my crate while I wait patiently for you to come home. I’d do best in a home with older children because I’m still learning how to contain all my excitement around the little ones. Since I've been looking for a home for a while, I think I'd prefer to be the only doggo so I don't have to share. I’ve got so much love to share and I absolutely cannot wait to meet you! You'll get to see my cute little nub of a tail wag and wag when I'm happy and that will make YOU happy, too! Call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 to find out more about me! I'm in the Kansas City metro, but my human friends will transport me to the right home. #thepetconnection #BoxerMix #AdoptDontShop #RescueDog #DogsofKC #SmartPup #PlayfulPup #ForeverHomeNeeded #KCAdopt #DogLovers #pawsitivetailskc
