Story
Hi there, I’m Dexter! I’m smart and affectionate and just a bit lazy, all wrapped up into one fantastic companion. I’m silly and goofy and such a nice friend, but I can be shy and unsure sometimes, too. I’ve just had a life full of instability and change, that’s all, so it takes me a little extra time to learn to relax and to know that you’re my people. Once we bond, you’ll find me to be such a lovely dog. I’m the sort of friend who will stay with you in your heart forever. I’m a handsome, ~60-pound sweetheart, with stunning, gentle eyes that will make you melt, beautiful markings, and an unassuming, charming personality. I’m already fully housebroken too! I found myself all alone as a stray with no one to turn to when Foster Mom stepped into my life. She was just what I needed at just the right time. She has been teaching me manners and all about how great life can be as part of a family, and I have been busy soaking up every ounce of love and attention that she shares with me. She says I’m ready now to start the next chapter of my life. I’m ready to be adopted! I hope you’re the one who will welcome me into your family! I’ve come so far during my time in foster, making Foster Mom beam with pride. Everything was so new and strange to me, but I settled right in with my new routine, and I’m very well behaved. My perfect day consists of lounging on the couch or bed, playing with my favorite stuffie toys, going for a short walk, and curling up next to you as you tell me what a good boy I am. I’m a sensitive soul, so please don’t be harsh with me. If you stay patient and calm with me, praising and encouraging me when I do the right thing, it will help me learn what you expect from me. I am one smart cookie and eager to please. Training me is easy and fun, aided by my love of delicious treats, of course. I don’t need a ton of exercise to keep me happy, but I do enjoy a daily walk. I’ve worked really hard on my leash skills during my time in foster, and I typically walk very well on my leash these days. Sometimes people or other dogs startle me though. Foster Dad helps me keep my distance from others, which works great. I prefer walking in familiar, low traffic areas, where I know what to expect. I am picky with my dog friends, so slow introductions help me to be more at ease. I currently live with two older female dogs in my foster home and we get along just fine. If you have another dog, I will need to meet them before we go home together, to make sure we’re a good match for each other. I need a home without cats, please, because I like to chase them. And I will be happiest in a home with all adults or older kids. The younger kiddos make me nervous. I’m looking for a quiet and calm home without a lot of commotion, and with kind, chill people who like the fact that I enjoy being a couch potato or a big lap dog most days. All I’ve ever wanted is to live a safe and peaceful life with people I love. It really is as simple as that for me. Living in my foster home, I’ve learned that life is so much sweeter when you get to share it with someone special. I want to share mine with you. Love, Dexter. Would you like to get together to make sure I'm your forever pup? Then go ahead and call/text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 and ask about me, Dexter! My foster home is in the Kansas City metro, but my friends will transport me to my forever home! What a deal! #thepetconnection

Please visit our web site at https://tarasdream.org/adopt to fill out an adoption application for this pet and for more info about our adoption process.  Meet Letty! She is a 1 year old pitbull that is just now getting to learn the world, and let’s face it, that’s both fun and scary!  Letty was surrendered to T.A.R.A after a rough start, but it hasn’t phased her a bit and she loves people and other dogs, although her rough play style can be intimidating to some. She also previously lived in a home with kids which she would love to do again! (She told us that ! ) This girl has a heart of GOLD and absolutely adores everyone! Letty is still learning about the world around her, so she is still a bit timid of everyday things like leashes and stairs, startling noises, and people who don’t keep dogs inside! Ideally Letty would find a home with a dog savvy individual, couple or family, who gives her love and training, so she knows what she is supposed to do with her young self! We know with the right family she will blossom into an amazing companion, who would love a spot on your sofa, and in your heart. C ome meet Letty, and give her an opportunity to live the good life with you!     Approximate Birthdate:  Jan 2023 Adoption Fee: $200 TARA's adoption fee includes: spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test (if age appropriate), heartworm and flea prevention, and deworming.  TARA's pets are all eligible for a TWO WEEK TRIAL. Story
Boris is a sweet boy and does great in his foster home. He has met a ton of new friends including kids and he loves everyone. There is no adventure too big or small for Boris, whether it's going for a hike, running around the neighborhood, or even tug of war inside, he is sure to have a good time. He does great in a kennel and does well all day when his foster mom is at work! He naps as much as he plays! This sweetheart's adoption fee has been sponsored, so there is no cost to adopt him today! Midwest Animal ResQ offers a 30-day adjustment period within which you can evaluate the pet's progress and your adoption decision. If, within those 30 days, you determine your recently adopted pet isn't a good fit, you may return the animal and receive a MARQ credit that can be used toward the adoption of another animal. Our biggest priority is finding the very best match for you, and Completing Families one Tail at a Time! All dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped, Heartworm tested, and current on vaccinations and preventions prior to adoption. Our shelter is located at 10312 East 63rd Street in Raytown, MO. We are open to meet pets Tuesday through Friday from 10-6, and on Saturday and Sunday from 10-5. We are closed on Mondays.

Story
You would never know it by looking at her, but when Domino first came in to the shelter, she was skin and bones. She hasn't let it slow her down, though; she's never met a stranger and loves everyone, and is living proof of the forgiving and resilient nature of dogs. Domino's heart of gold makes everyone who meets her fall in love. She loves to play and will do just about anything for a treat, making her a fun and easy training partner! Whether she's playing with her furry friends or cuddled up for a nap, it's easy to see why she's a staff and volunteer favorite! Domino has spent time in foster and was a good girl in a home environment! The foster mom reported she was crate trained, and she was housebroken as long as she was taken out every few hours, but she could go all night without an accident. She shared her foster home with a 25lb dog and was a great playmate, engaging in lots of chase and tug. She also enjoyed going on walks and using her brain! Domino worked on being nice with cats in the foster home and overall did well- though she did get a little excited if they ran away and wanted to play with them! Whether you're looking for a hiking buddy, a training partner, or just someone to play a few rounds of fetch and stroll around the block with, Domino is sure to be your gal! Her adoption fee has even been sponsored by a generous donor! Ready to meet Domino? We guarantee you'll "fall" for her when you do!

Story
Come give this butterscotch beefcake a chance! Bubba is such a sweet boy. After a bit of a shy meeting, he has opened up quickly in his foster home. Things Bubba loves: giving kisses, getting belly rubs, playing with toys, and eating treats. He loves to go for a walk and has a cute trot when he is exploring. And because he is past those puppy years, he has balanced adult dog energy. He enjoys to play but equally loves a good nap near his people. And when the people are away, he goes right in his kennel with no issues. Another bonus - he's housetrained! He had a rough start as a young pup with an embedded collar so he is looking for a forever home to shower him with love and care. The right family for Bubba would be able to give him a calm and safe environment. He would need a home with no cats. However, a canine friend would be a plus. He is currently living with 2 large dogs, and he reacts well to their social cues. Will do best in a home without small children. If you think you could find a place in your heart and home for this lovable guy, his foster family is ready to answer any questions you have! Email foster@kcpetproject.org for more info or to meet him. He is up to date on his vaccinations, neutered and microchipped. His ADOPTION FEE IS WAIVED! We want all our dogs to have homes as quickly as possible. In an effort to help dogs with longer stays, those who are deteriorating in the shelter environment, or who are harder to place find homes more quickly, the adoption fee for this dog has been waived.

Story
This handsome guy is Torpedo! Torpedo hasn't had the easiest of lives so far, but is ready to put that behind him and find his forever family who will love him forever! Torpedo has been at KCPP three times in all, sadly. Most recently he was found as a stray with his collar embedded in his neck for being too tight! This most recent trip into KCPP, was because he was found as a stray. Unfortunately, this time, he was found his collar embedded in his neck. All this, and he is only 2 years old. Despite the rough start, Torpedo does like his people, showing that with body wiggles. He also enjoys his walks! Torpedo is in a foster home, where we have learned that he is potty trained. Crate training has been a work in progress with his foster family, but he has made great strides. He will even choose to lay in it when everyone is home. Torpedo does get along with other dogs and kids but due to his size and nature of play, would probably do best with kids over 12. His ideal adopter will be someone who will understand he needs walks to help get his energy out, and that he will need structure. Most of all, he will need someone who will love him forever. Can you help Torpedo and grant him his biggest wish??? Torpedo is currently living in a foster home. If you are interested in learning more or meeting him, please email foster@kcpetproject.org.My ADOPTION FEE IS WAIVED! We want all our dogs to have homes as quickly as possible. In an effort to help dogs with longer stays, those who are deteriorating in the shelter environment, or who are harder to place find homes more quickly, the adoption fee for Torpedo has been waived.

Story
Everyone’s always talking about work-life balance. Well, we wanna talk about dog-life balance. Kanga has that dog-life balance that we’re all striving for: she plays hard and does playtime up right, whether it’s with other dogs or people. She likes to play outside, and she likes to play inside, or wherever the good toys are. After that, she’ll find herself a quiet spot to snuggle up and catch some zzz’s and watch the world go by. In between, she’ll be a goofball and make you smile, and she’ll also let you dress her up and make your own fun. See what we mean about dog-life balance? Playing, snoozing, goofing around: She has it all, except for a place to call home. Kanga is a three-year-old, 55-lb. brindle beauty who wants to be forever your girl. She knows some basic commands and is house trained and crate trained. She’s a little shy for a few minutes, but she will make herself right at home and will be such good company. If you’re interested in adopting or fostering Kanga, please call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387. Kanga is in the Kansas City metro, but transport to the right home is available! #thepetconnection

Story
Hi! My name’s Houston. If you want a dog to snuggle, I’m your guy! I’d spend all day right next to you getting belly rubs if I could. Really, though, I’m way too smart to laze around. I know sit, down, stay, high five, hug, orbit, between, wait, and I can even turn off the lights! Learning tricks is one of my favorite activities and I can pick up new ones in just a day or two. I love to run outside and play in the hose, but my favorite game of all is tug of war. (I'll even let you win sometimes!) I’m kennel trained, house trained, and I do amazing being left alone. In fact, I do some of my best snoozing in my crate while I wait patiently for you to come home. I’m getting better on the leash all the time. I’d do best in a home with older children, because I’m still learning how to contain all my excitement around the little ones. Since I've been looking for a home for a while, I think I'd prefer to be the only doggo so I don't have to share. I'm a young guy and weigh around 60 pounds, so I’m pretty much the perfect size! I’ve got so much love to share and I absolutely cannot wait to meet you! You'll get to see my cute little nub of a tail wag and wag when I'm happy and *that* will make you happy, too! Call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 to find out more about me! I'm in the Kansas City metro, but my human friends will transport me to the right home. #thepetconnection
