Story
Meet Diamond – A Shining Soul with a Heart of Gold Diamond is a stunning 4-year-old black Pit Bull/Lab mix whose story is as powerful as her name. When she was rescued, Diamond had endured severe neglect and abuse — she was skin and bones, missing patches of fur, and had lost faith in people. But with love, patience, and care, this beautiful girl has blossomed into a happy, playful companion with a dazzling smile and sleek black coat. Diamond is crate trained and has never had an accident indoors. She sleeps soundly through the night in a crate, but she’d much prefer to curl up in bed next to her person. Once she feels safe, her playful and goofy personality shines through — she loves walks, plays with toys, and has the most endearing zoomies. She’s also learning to enjoy human affection, and her foster mom has worked hard to help her learn that human touch can be kind. Diamond would do best as the only pet in an adult-only home. She is not cat-friendly and can be unpredictable with other dogs. Her ideal adopter will respect her need for slow introductions and structure. Because of her past, food is a valuable resource for Diamond and should be managed with care. Like many young dogs, she can still be a bit mouthy when excited, but she listens beautifully when told to calm down or redirects to a toy. Once Diamond trusts you, you’ll see just how special she is — her loyalty runs deep, and her goofy grin will melt your heart every day. She is proof that love and patience can heal old wounds, and she’s ready to find the person who will let her sparkle forever. Could you be the one to give Diamond her forever home and show her what unconditional love truly feels like? Diamond is eligible for our Foster-to-Adopt program, which means you can take some time to get to know her in your home before finalizing the adoption. 🐾 Meet Mala — Bold, Brilliant, and Full of Heart Playful • Smart • Affectionate • Long Timer Mala is a stunning American Pit Bull Terrier with a big personality, a bigger heart, and absolutely zero stranger danger. None. If you are a human, Mala is already planning to love you — enthusiastically and with her whole body. 💕 Mala has been in foster care since April 2023, making her a long timer dog who’s patiently waiting for the right match — not just any home, but her home. 🐕 Personality & Social Vibes Mala lives life at full volume — joyfully, energetically, and with total sincerity. • Loves people — friends, strangers, guests, anyone with hands for pets • Greets humans with full-body wiggles and enthusiastic affection • Confident, playful, and socially bold • No stranger danger whatsoever — she assumes everyone is her new best friend • Thrives on interaction, engagement, and being included She’s the kind of dog who lights up a room just by walking into it. 🧠 Smart & Trainable Mala is incredibly intelligent and eager to learn. • Knows basic commands and picks up new skills quickly • Highly food- and praise-motivated • Helped teach her foster brother Bob how to sit (yes, really) • Would love continued training to channel her energy and brilliance She’s not just brawn — she’s brains, too. 🐾 Dogs, Cats & Companions • Enjoys active play with other dogs • Has a confident, sometimes dominant play style • Would do best as an only dog or with a calm, submissive canine companion • Coexists with cats but prefers they don’t run — she finds that a bit too exciting 🏡 Home Match Notes Mala is a big, strong, active, excitable dog who experiences emotions at full speed. • She may jump up when excited • When overly worked up, she can redirect and become a bit nippy • Because of her strength and intensity, she would do best in a home without young children, who may not recognize or respect her boundaries This isn’t about aggression — it’s about making sure everyone is set up for success. 🚗 Adventure + Chill Balance Mala is the perfect mix of fun and relaxation. • Loves walks, car rides, and outdoor adventures • Enjoys runs and active play • Equally happy to crash on the couch for post-adventure snuggles • Motto: Play hard, nap harder 💛 The Big Picture Mala is loyal, affectionate, hilarious, and full of life. She’s not a low-energy dog — she’s a full-hearted companion who wants to be part of everything you do. For the right adopter, she’ll bring laughter, love, and unforgettable companionship. ✨ Mala is eligible for our Foster-to-Adopt program, which means you can take some time to get to know her in your home before finalizing the adoption. Story
💗 Meet Sugar Ray — The Snuggly, Tennis-Ball-Loving Sweetheart! Sugar Ray is a 3-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier with a heart every bit as big as her smile. Originally an outreach case who needed rescue, she is now thriving in foster care and showing just how loving, goofy, and gentle she can be. This big, beautiful girl is all about affection and connection. She loves to cuddle, nap beside you, and soak up every bit of love she can get. If you’re looking for a mellow companion who also enjoys bursts of play, Sugar Ray just might be your perfect match! 🌟 Sugar Ray’s Best Qualities • A+ snuggler — her favorite place is right next to her people • Total nap queen — calm, quiet, and relaxed in the home • Toy lover — especially obsessed with tennis balls! • Crate trained — settles in calmly when you’re away • Good with dogs & cats — per previous owner; foster is still doing slow intros • Great with children — gentle, though her size may be a bit much for toddlers • Well-behaved when left alone At about 85 lbs, Sugar Ray is a solid, strong girl with a soft, mushy heart. Her size means she may unintentionally knock down very small children, but she is a kind and gentle soul who truly loves people. 💕 Personality Snapshot Sugar Ray can get a little excited when new guests arrive, but she settles quickly and just wants to be included. She does wonderfully with routine, clear expectations, and a cozy place to rest. She also experiences some anxiety, but with reassurance and a predictable environment, she thrives. 🏡 Sugar Ray Would Love a Home With: ✔ Someone who enjoys snuggles and quiet companionship ✔ A family or adopter who can handle a strong, 85-lb sweetheart ✔ Slow, thoughtful introductions to resident pets ✔ Plenty of tennis balls! Sugar Ray is the perfect mix of sweetness and silliness — a loyal companion who just wants to adore her humans and be adored right back. If you're looking for a gentle, loving companion with so much affection to give, Sugar Ray is ready to brighten your home and heart. She's also eligible for our Foster-to-Adopt program, which means you can take some time to get to know her in your home before finalizing the adoption. Story
Ace is a 9-month-old, 55-lb bundle of joy who has been patiently waiting over 5 months for his person. And honestly? He’s missing out on some of the best bonding months of his life — the kind where goofy puppy energy turns into deep loyalty and lifelong love. Ace is ridiculously adorable (that speckled nose should be illegal), has a natural talent for rocking pajamas, and approaches life with the belief that everyone is his new best friend. He may come in hot during first meetings — all wagging tail, happy hops, and excitement — but give him a moment and you’ll see his sweet, affectionate heart shine through. What makes Ace amazing: 🏠 House trained — he knows exactly where to potty 📦 Crate trained — goes in politely and settles well 🐶 Dog-friendly — wrestling, zoomies, repeat 🐈 No cats — Ace is very convinced cats are suspicious (and fast) 🧒 Kids 8+ recommended — only because he’s big, bouncy, and enthusiastic Ace is still learning things like impulse control and personal space (aren’t we all at 9 months?), but he is eager to learn, food-motivated, and thrives with guidance. Under the playful chaos is a dog who wants to belong — to curl up after a big day, to learn your routines, and to grow up with someone who chose him. If you’re looking for: ✨ A dog who will make you laugh every single day ✨ A loyal companion ready to grow into his best self ✨ A heart dog who just needs his chance Ace is it. 👉 Apply today and give Ace the forever home he’s been waiting for. Let’s not make him wait any longer. 🐾 ----------------------------------------- If you’re interested in adopting, please apply online at mscrescue.org/adopt. Story
Meet Judah Lewis, a white and brindle Pit Bull Terrier mix with a heart full of love and a story ready for its happy ending. He arrived at Melissa’s Second Chances as a stray alongside his best friend, Lo. Lo has since been adopted — and now it’s Judah’s turn. Judah is the total package: sweet, affectionate, and endlessly loyal. He adores people, whether it’s one-on-one or with a whole family, and forms strong bonds quickly. During a recent furlough from the shelter, Judah proved just how wonderful he is in a home — he’s fully house trained, has excellent manners, and can free roam without a single issue. He’s a calm, respectful presence who loves to relax after a bit of activity. With a medium energy level, Judah enjoys walks and playtime but lives for a good cuddle session at the end of the day. He’s dog-friendly with pups of all sizes (he gets along great with his foster’s personal dog) and has been around rabbits, goats, turkeys, and even cows — though he’s still a little suspicious of the latter! He’s also shown curiosity — but no aggression — around cats, and with proper introductions, could potentially learn to live alongside one. Judah absolutely loves people, though he can get excited and jump up, so a home with older children would be a better fit as he continues working on his manners. Judah can also jump fences — he’s cleared his foster’s a few times, likely in pursuit of a neighborhood cat that piqued his curiosity. The good news? He never runs — he turns right around and comes straight back. That said, he’ll do best with a tall, secure fence or leash walks to keep his adventurous side in check. Calm, eager to please, and full of heart, Judah is ready to be someone’s best friend. Whether you live in the city or the country, he’ll be happy just to be by your side. Judah is eligible for our Foster-to-Adopt program, which means you can welcome him into your home on a trial basis before finalizing the adoption. Come meet him at Melissa’s Second Chances — this sweet, soulful boy is ready to find his forever. ----------------------------------------- If you’re interested in adopting, please apply online at mscrescue.org/adopt. Story
We have had her since she was a tiny little pup. She was born on thanksgiving day in 2016. She is 9 years old. She was a gift to my husband for his birthday. She is a sweet girl. Loves to play with rope and balls. Very energetic loves outside. Loves to give kisses. She does not do well with other animals or small children (toddlers). She is sometimes very nervous. In a new home, she should be the only animal, tons of kisses and loves, and hours of play, and plenty room to run. And loves car rides. loves to sleep on the bed and under covers and she loves cuddles. She loves to sit right next to you and as close as possible.

Story
EVY (formerly Harley;name was changed only because I already have a dog named Harley) is a 55-lb American Pocket Bully, approximately 5,6 years old. She is a loving, people-oriented couch dog who does great with older children, including my kids and neighborhood kids. I took her in to help her breeder, but the breeder has since moved and is unable to take her back. Due to my recent divorce, hysterectomy recovery, financial strain, and managing multiple dogs, I can no longer provide the environment EVY needs. She gets along well with two of my dogs but has shown aggression toward one dog with significant anxiety, and they do not cohabitate safely despite management efforts. Because of this, EVY may do best as an only dog or with an experienced owner who understands dog behavior and introductions. Cat compatibility is unknown. She enjoys walks and outdoor time but is primarily an indoor companion. The breeder stated her vaccinations were up to date likely need updated and spayed.

Story
“Kippy has a calm, gentle presence that draws you in. She doesn’t demand attention — she offers herself, and that kind of love is hard to forget. That quiet trust is what makes her so special.” – Foster Mom. Miss Kippy is a 2-year-old American Pitbull Terrier/Staffordshire Terrier mix weighing 50 pounds. She has the most stunning brindle coat and those perky ears, gah! Under all that beauty is a gentle, observant, and quietly affectionate lady. Kippy gets along with every dog she meets, both male and female. Kippy has met confident barn cats and showed curiosity without aggression or chasing. Because the cats did not run, we cannot say for sure how she would respond to a fearful or fast-moving cat. Continued supervision and slow introductions would be necessary in a home with cats. Kip is calm, patient, and comfortable around kids. Miss Kippy enjoys food-based enrichment such as Kongs filled with peanut butter and bully sticks. She is always up for a walk and time outside, but does not require high levels of exercise. This smart gal is house-trained and can be trusted to sleep on her dog bed at night. Kip knows “sit,” and can easily learn many more commands. Kippy is learning that the world can be safe. She is still gaining confidence in new environments. She would be best suited for a home that values calm energy and patience over fast expectations. A consistent routine, gentle guidance, and positive reinforcement will help her continue to build confidence. Kippy will come to you spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $175. If you feel you and Kip would make a good match, head over to PawsitiveTailsKC.org and fill out an adoption application. Approved applicants will be contacted to set up a meet-and-greet. 🖤🤎❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤍💜💙💚💛🧡❤️🤎🖤 APPLY @ PawsitiveTailsKC.org 🖤🤎❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤍💜💙💚💛🧡❤️🤎🖤
