Story
4-year-old Clyde is described as truly amazing by his foster mom. Despite his past, he is thriving and enjoying life to the fullest. His simple desires include a bowl of food, water, a comfortable bed, and belly rubs. He's been trained to wait patiently for his meals and to go outside only when given the signal. Although he still struggles with excitement-induced jumping, he's making progress. Notably, he recently greeted his foster dad by sitting instead of jumping, albeit wiggling with excitement. Clyde's gentle nature shines through when interacting with children, instinctively understanding the need to be delicate around them. He even follows commands from a two-year-old, earning treats and laughter in return. Remarkably, he shows no interest in chasing animals while indoors and is learning to respond to recall commands outdoors without pulling on his lead. However, his immense strength warrants caution around those who may not be able to handle it. In various situations, Clyde displays impeccable behavior, from resisting the temptation of food left unattended to interacting peacefully with other dogs. He's particularly fond of playing with his owner's son's dog and even took a nap on her bed. Despite never being confined to the crate provided, Clyde stays contentedly behind a baby gate when left alone. He shows no interest in the items in the spare room, demonstrating his exceptional demeanor. Overall, Clyde's foster mom struggles to fully articulate just how remarkable he truly is, emphasizing his love for life and those who love him in return.

Story
Meet Apollo, a 2-year-old Pitbull Terrier Mix with a story shrouded in mystery. Rescued from Madacc, her past remains a puzzle, but her vibrant personality shines through. Apollo is a ball of energy, always eager for adventure and exploration. She'll gladly join you for long walks or a game of fetch in the yard, bringing boundless enthusiasm to everything she does. And when it's time to wind down, there's nothing she loves more than snuggling up close for some quality cuddle time. But Apollo isn't without her quirks. She can be reactive around other dogs and cats, a trait that will require patience and training to overcome. She's a smart cookie though, and with the right guidance, she's sure to make progress. She's is looking for a special someone who can match her energy levels and provide the time and attention she craves. A fenced yard would be a bonus, giving her space to roam and explore safely.

We will reach out to you as soon as your application is processed. Thank you in advance for your patience. All of our dogs start their journey in Memphis, Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted. Once adopted, some pups stay local in Memphis. Many others travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Pet Express Transport (https://petexpresstupelo.wordpress.com) for our Nashville, Knoxville and New England adoptions. For our Midwest adopters, we have our own private transport. Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff. Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Woof River is 100% volunteer operated. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding. Please LIKE Woof River on Facebook! Meet Theodore Winston, "Theo" for short who came to Canine Cupids from Chicago where he was found wandering the streets. Theo was emaciated, scared and spent two months in the shelter where he became a volunteer favorite because of his sweet nature and handsome looks. Theo loves to play with tennis balls and enjoys the company of other dogs. He was recently diagnosed with hip dysplasia and is on weekly injections to help ease the pain. Theo needs to take it easy when he is playing, and walks should be not very long. Theo is a lover of sunbathing on his foster mom's patio. With his strong wiggly tail, he would not be suitable in a home with small children. If you are interested in Theo please fill out an application today!

Story
Say hello to Davey, the smartest dog you will ever meet! Davey is a 3 yr old mix of big ears, tail wags, and smiles. He had a rough start to his little life but it has not broken his spirit. His happy smile will lift your spirits on the dreariest of days. Found on the streets of Chicago, Davey hasn't had consistency in his life until now. So, as amazing as he is (and he truly is) Davey still needs work on some training to learn to not get overly excited when seeing new dogs and alarm barking at strange noises. His foster home is working with a behaviorist and Davey has made amazingly fast progress! We expect him to live up to his full potential. This 45 lb bundle of sillies is searching for an active household to enjoy running, hiking, and agility with and come home to quiet snuggles on the couch. Davey's favorite toy is every toy but especially the thesaurus. He is intelligent, inquisitive, curious, adventurous, brilliant, agile, spry, nimble, fascinated, eager, enthusiastic, voracious for knowledge (and treats!) Davey loves any and all treats and with his love of playing, hiking, and agility he needs all the snacks. When we say Davey is smart, you wonder, how smart is he?!? Well he isn't a rocket scientist but he learns just about anything! He knows Sit, Stay, Paw, Other Paw, Down, Wait, Touch, Up, Off and is crate trained and bell-trained for potty time. Davey needs a family to stimulate his exceptional little brain. LIke a genius kid who will act up if they are bored in school; Davey will always find a way to entertain himself. But, with a nice long walk or run in the morning, a doggo pal to wrestle with, and a bone to chew on during the day, Davey is a well- behaved happy boy. Davey loves to romp and play with other dogs after a slow introduction to get comfortable. He runs and wrestles and tugs with boundless energy. He will do best in a home with a confident, playful, medium energy dog who wants to play but also cuddle. Davey has not lived with cats but is good with children of all ages Adopt this sweet silly smart boy today. Davey is in need of a foster home. If interested, please reach out to Caninecupids.org. You’ll love all the cuddles - guaranteed

Story
Rosemary (Rosie) has a heart bigger than her head – an impressive feat for a blocky-headed dog. She leans her whole body into cuddles and will bring her toys right to your hand, wiggling in excitement to play with you. She can also read your energy and knows when to self-entertain if you’re not in the mood to play. She is moderate energy – she loves to run and play, but also tires out quickly, so no need to worry about multiple-hour walks. As long as she can get her energy out, Rosie would likely be fine with kids who are old enough to respect her boundaries and not get knocked over by zoomies. She is fully potty trained, and tolerates her crate but is left free-roaming at her foster home with no issues. Despite being a sweet and loving dog, the world can be a scary place for Rosie – full of sudden movements and unfamiliar places. People are her anchor – from friendly strangers she happily greets at a bar to the full trust she builds with her humans, everything seems a little bit better when she has people to show her she’s safe. The biggest part of keeping Rosie safe is regulating her interactions with other dogs. She has had several negative altercations with dogs in the past, and her continuing fear of dogs manifests itself as reactivity. She is muzzle trained for her own safety, and needs someone who can handle how hard a 50lb dog can pull on walks and help her keep her distance from other dogs who may be out. Because of this fear, Rosie would be easiest as an only pet. However, she has happily lived with another dog in the past, and with lots of time, commitment, and patience, she could potentially be integrated with another dog in the future. The biggest factor would be humans who respect and enforce her boundaries and are committed to setting her up for success. Rosie has not been tested with cats or other smaller animals, but would likely have similar needs – slow integration, trust that her boundaries will be respected, and the ability for both her and the other animal to get space from each other if needed. Rosie has a lot of love to give, and is ready to build her foundation with her forever home. Could that be you?
