Story
路Intake Reason: Transfer from MADACC路Weight: Known with: 路Cats: Unknown 路Dogs: Unknown 路Kids: Unknown 路Personality: ActiveGreetings, my name is Freya; that name means 鈥榣ady' and I am hoping to be your precious little lady. When I was a young and crazy pup, I came to WCHS from MADACC (Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission) where I was a stray. I was adopted and lived with a person for about 6 months. There were a couple other pooches in my home and we got along fine and had fun when food or goodies like bones were not around. But if we were in the same room during mealtime, tensions got high and I felt I had to guard my goods. In order to keep peace in the house, my people decided it was best for me to come back to WCHS to find a home that might be a better fit for me. I am fine sharing valuable resources with people, just not other canines; this girl simply appreciates a little privacy when I am eating. I am a friendly and affectionate gal who may just fit on your lap since I weigh only 58 pounds; who wouldn't love extended snuggle sessions. In my previous home I was comfortable in a crate when I was alone so that I did not have to manage the whole house by myself; I could rest and relax in my comfy cozy little den. At bedtime, though, I got to share the bed with my person and that was fabulous. In my previous home I never had to develop a signal to let my person know I had to go outside because I was on a consistent and regular schedule. I have good house-training skills but still think it would be wise to give me plenty of opportunities to get outside until I understand the household routine; maybe I could even work on a nifty signal. I am an active lass who enjoys playing fetch and had a great time romping in my fenced yard. I do like to play with other pooches (as long as there is no food around); my mates do need to understand that I am a high-octane rough player who likes to have fun. I love car rides, Jollyballs and kiddie pools to splash around in on warm summer days. I am smart and like to learn; I already know the cues for 鈥榮it', 鈥榮tay', 鈥榩lace/bed' and 鈥榞entle'. It would be lovely if we could take some classes together; perhaps we can practice obedience, rally, nose work, dog parkour or fun canine sports. I hope you stop by to make my acquaintance because I would love to meet you and start down the path of life together.#2

路Intake Reason: Surrendered owner passed away; Adopted for 1 month & returned due to aggression towards a friend's dog路Weight: 65 lbs.Known with:路Cats: lived with a 15 yr old neutered male路Dogs: Previously lived with 5 yr old neutered male APBTx and plays in WCHS playgroups well; Would do best as the only dog in the home.路Kids: Unknown路Personality: AffectionateGreetings, my name is Cocoa and I am a friend to all. I had a lovely life with a person for a couple of years where I lived with my good buddy, Ranger, and even a senior kitty-cat. Unfortunately, my person passed away so the whole gang came to WCHS to search for a new home. I used to have a great time playing with Ranger but he recently found his new forever home; I adore him so I am very happy for him. You might notice from my photo that I have something called a cherry-eye and I have been told that the nice folks at the shelter have plans to take care of it; it will be great to have my vision improve. My only complaint since coming to WCHS is they wanted me to get on a scale; as an enchanting and sophisticated young lady, getting weighed is not my favorite activity. I am an active gals and my eye issue does not slow me down a bit; I still enjoy a romp with other pups in the playgroups. I also love to go on walks and explore the fabulous world around us. I do need a little practice with polite leash walking because I get so happy and excited that I pull a bit. When it comes to manners, I was so polite and respectful of my person's things that I was allowed to roam freely about the house when I was alone. Although I had a comfy pet bed in my previous home, I had the opportunity to sleep with my human in their bed and that was grand. I am an affectionate lovebug so cuddling all night long was quite a treat. In my previous home I knew to go to the door and whine a bit to ask to go outside. When I get to my new home, we will need to figure out each other's signals and routines; until then I will need plenty of opportunities to go outside to use the facilities. I have been described as friendly, playful, quiet and gentle; I am a big fan of car rides and enjoy a rousing game of fetch. I am a wiggle-butt with loads of love to give and I promise to be loyal to you forever. Stop by and ask to meet Cocoa, I think we will have a magnificent life together.#1

**Ziba is being adopted out from her foster home, where she's learning sign language! Please call WCHS to set up an appointment if you are interested in meeting with her.**路 Intake Reason: surrendered, owner was unable to care forKnown with:路 Cats: lived with 2 cats, and liked to play with them路 Dogs: went to dog parks previously, does well in WCHS playgroups; is in foster with multiple dogs路 Kids: exposed to various ages路 Personality: AffectionateGreetings, my name is Ziba and I am 40-pounds of special. My name means 鈥榖eautiful' and I think that is very fitting because I am enchanting. My world is very quiet because I am deaf. Since I cannot hear commands, people have been using hand signals to communicate with me; I know the signal for 鈥榮it' and 鈥榞ood girl'. Because I could not hear you calling after me, I will be counting on you to keep me safe and out of trouble. I know that some folks who have a deaf pooch in the family use a vibration collar (no shock, please) to let the dog know you want their attention. I also appreciate it when humans do not sneak up on me or surprise me. In my previous home I had the luxury of roaming about freely when I was alone and also got to share my person's bed at night; that was fabulous. When I needed to go outside, I would sit by the door. When I first come into my new home it would be wise to watch me carefully and also give me plenty of opportunities to get outside to use the facilities. I must confess I am still working on becoming 100% when it comes to house-training. Lots of yummy treats and praise should help me develop that skill. I am a tolerant gal but I have a tendency to get overstimulated, so it would be great if we could work on some settle exercises. I am a smart lass and think it is important to keep my brain busy and engaged so I have been happy with all the enrichment I get at the shelter. I do enjoy romping with other dogs and am sort of a rough player but prefer not to share my toys with them; a girl has got to draw the line somewhere. I enjoy car rides and would love to be your sidekick as we go on many adventures together. I am friendly and outgoing but do prefer a slow and polite introduction to folks I do not know. Give me a few minutes and a couple tasty tidbits and soon we will be BFFs. I hope you stop by to meet me in person; I think it is lovely to increase my circle of friends and we could have a magnificent life together.#2

Story
Hi there, my name is Slim Jim. Or sometimes it's Bubba. Or Bubby. Or Slimbo. Or Rambo. I have a lot of names. My foster family says I have a big heart, big smarts, and big farts!聽 I have a big heart because I love lots of stuff, like making new human friends and CAR RIDES. Seriously I have no sense of stranger danger and will try to jump in anyone's car for a ride. I love a good chew treat and cheeseburgers. I love my blankie and sleeping all snuggled up in my crate, so will you please tuck me in every night? I love snuggles and giving kisses, but maybe bigger kids would be best for me because I REALLY get into the snuggles and don't want to accidentally knock a tiny human down. I do NOT love the cold or rainy weather, but I love dressing up in my sweaters and jackets to stay warm! I love butt scratches, tummy rubs, all kinds of adventures, and learning new things.聽 聽 Speaking of learning new things, I have big smarts in this big noggin of mine! I pick up on new tricks super fast and already know how to sit, lay down, shake, wait, back (to sit in the back seat of the car), cross (the street), and turn left (I'm working on 'right'). I am great at food puzzles, and especially love my snuffle mat. I am crate trained and super polite on my leash when we're out for walks. I even know how to use agility equipment and am learning how to use a doggy treadmill. My recent record is 13 MPH! 聽 My big farts are not so bad if I use a puzzle feeder, because then I don't eat so fast. It's this stubby, snorty nose of mine, I can't help but take in extra air. 聽 There are a few things I don't love, mostly kitties (I want to eat them) and other dogs (they scare me). I take a cheap, daily anxiety medication (cost is under $10/mo) which helps me be more comfortable and my foster family has done a TON of training with me. They are sponsoring a private training session for whoever adopts me, to set me up for success in my new home!聽 聽 Also, because I have such big smarts I take some things as a personal challenge. Crates and fences, for example. I think they are puzzles to be solved! I need a beefier crate than most dogs and a solid plan to keep me in the yard if I'm off-leash, because if that fence isn't solid like Mount Everest I am outtie! But I don't chew on or damage things in the house, don't worry about that.聽 聽 I've been waiting for a home of my very own for far too long! So if you're looking for a Very Good Boy who you can have a lot of fun with, please reach out and ask for me, Slim Jim aka Bubba aka Bubby aka Slimbo aka Rambo. 聽 聽 聽 聽 Approximate DOB: 2021 Foster Home Location: Madison聽 聽 If you are interested in adopting one of our wonderful dogs, you can apply on our website:聽https://forms.gle/MGakwmFh92UiK9iM6 聽 聽 Please allow several days for us to process your application. We are a small, all-volunteer group and we are doing our best to work quickly! After the application is processed we will make arrangements for you to meet the dog that interest you. All of our dogs are raised in our homes and live with us until they are adopted. They live with us as part of our families so we know them very well and we can help you find your perfect dog! 聽 聽 Our adoption fees:聽 Adults (up to 7 years): $275 Seniors (8 years and up): $200 聽 聽 All dogs are spayed or neutered, dewormed, vaccinated for rabies, bordatella and distemper, tested for heartworm and microchipped.June 25, 2024, 6:26 am
