Story
· Intake Reason: couldn't afford Known with:· Cats: previously lived with 4 cats· Dogs: lived w/ fixed female Terrier Hound mix & did great!· Kids: may be best w/ older children; Rocky doesn't know his sizeWeight: 57#Howdy, my name is Rocky and I am a spectacular pooch. I was adopted from WCHS as a small pup and lived with a nice and fun family my whole life; things were lovely. Unfortunately, with a growing family and many obligations they felt it was a bit costly to keep me and brought me back to the shelter to find a new home. Although I was certainly bummed, I understood the situation and am optimistic that I will find another loving family. I am rambunctious and active; when I first get outside for a walk, I get very excited and my exuberance comes bursting out so it appears that I am not well-mannered. But in a short time, I settle down, remember that I am a gentleman and walk very nicely. I enjoy soaking in all the fabulous smells and will take any opportunity to roll in the cool grass because that feels so good. Although I am comfortable in a crate, in my previous home I was respectful of my person's things and had the luxury of roaming freely about the house when I was alone. At bedtime I was allowed to crash on the couch when the house got quiet and everyone went to sleep. I know proper potty behavior and would go to the door to ask to go outside to use the facilities. When I get to my new home it would be wise to give me plenty of opportunities for potty breaks until I get the lay of the land and we learn each other's signals and routines. I have lived with children and do very well with older kids that I can play with. I should be supervised around small humans because I weigh about 60 pounds and sometimes, I forget how big I am; I might accidentally knock tiny tykes over. I am very affectionate and adore snuggles and cuddles; I think lots of people showering love upon me would be grand. In the past I have lived with another pooch and did great. I even lived with four felines and did very well although I do not like them sharing my food so I prefer to eat alone. I have no problem with people around at mealtime, just kitties. I have been described as friendly, playful and quiet; I am active (even hyper sometimes) and a wee bit subborn. My "likes" include car rides, playing fetch and getting hugs. I am not a fan of nail trims so I typically get those at the vet. I am a smart guy and know the cues for ‘sit', ‘down', ‘paw/shake' and ‘stay'. I like to keep my brain busy so it would be wonderful to take some classes with you so I learn new skills and more human words; perhaps we can get involved in canine sports, nose work, rally or dog parkour to help me burn some energy. I think we can have a phenomenal life together and I promise to be loyal and will work hard to make you proud; my goal is to please people. I hope you stop by so we can get acquainted, a pup can never have too many friends.#1

Story
**Ziba is being adopted out from her foster home, where she's learning sign language! Please call WCHS to set up an appointment if you are interested in meeting with her.**· Intake Reason: surrendered, owner was unable to care forKnown with:· Cats: lived with 2 cats, and liked to play with them· Dogs: went to dog parks previously, does well in WCHS playgroups; is in foster with multiple dogs· Kids: exposed to various ages· Personality: AffectionateWeight: 40#Greetings, my name is Ziba and I am 40-pounds of special. My name means ‘beautiful' and I think that is very fitting because I am enchanting. My world is very quiet because I am deaf. Since I cannot hear commands, people have been using hand signals to communicate with me; I know the signal for ‘sit' and ‘good girl'. Because I could not hear you calling after me, I will be counting on you to keep me safe and out of trouble. I know that some folks who have a deaf pooch in the family use a vibration collar (no shock, please) to let the dog know you want their attention. I also appreciate it when humans do not sneak up on me or surprise me. In my previous home I had the luxury of roaming about freely when I was alone and also got to share my person's bed at night; that was fabulous. When I needed to go outside, I would sit by the door. When I first come into my new home it would be wise to watch me carefully and also give me plenty of opportunities to get outside to use the facilities. I must confess I am still working on becoming 100% when it comes to house-training. Lots of yummy treats and praise should help me develop that skill. I am a tolerant gal but I have a tendency to get overstimulated, so it would be great if we could work on some settle exercises. I am a smart lass and think it is important to keep my brain busy and engaged so I have been happy with all the enrichment I get at the shelter. I do enjoy romping with other dogs and am sort of a rough player but prefer not to share my toys with them; a girl has got to draw the line somewhere. I enjoy car rides and would love to be your sidekick as we go on many adventures together. I am friendly and outgoing but do prefer a slow and polite introduction to folks I do not know. Give me a few minutes and a couple tasty tidbits and soon we will be BFFs. I hope you stop by to meet me in person; I think it is lovely to increase my circle of friends and we could have a magnificent life together.#2

Story
Franklin is available to be seen at his foster home. Please call the shelter at 262-677-4388 for that information.Intake Reason: Transferred from MADACCWeight: 65 lbsKnown with: ·Cats: Unknown ·Dogs: Plays rough but does well with dogs in foster home ·Kids: Unknown ·Personality: Outgoing / Likes to run in courtyard / gets overstimulated / affectionateMy adoption fee has been generously sponsored by a member of the community! Now all I need is you!Yahoo, my name is Franklin and I am a high-octane lad who could use some guidance. I am hoping for an experienced person who is prepared to provide structure, exercise and training to help me be the best pooch ever. I was a stray at MADACC (Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission) before I was transferred to WCHS. The kind folks at the shelter realized that I would do much better in a foster home where I would get a good routine and opportunities to play with lots of different pups to burn some energy every day. I am a tolerant dude and I need my mates to be somewhat tolerant of me because I am a rough player. I hope we can take some classes together so I can learn some manners and polite leash walking. I enjoy taking long walks but do pull a bit on the leash because I want to go, go, go; I also get excited and mischievous and play tug with the leash. I need to practice not jumping on people and settling down when I get hyper; my person will need to help me stay more tranquil before I get over-stimulated. I already know the cues for ‘sit', ‘down' and ‘shake/paw' and I hope to expand my repertoire of human words; I would do well with patient and positive training techniques. I will need plenty of physical and mental exercise every day; brain teaser toys and using a foraging mat at mealtime can help burn some of my abundant energy. I like to chase tennis balls and think fetch might be fun. I am playful and think it would be grand to play games and canine sports with you; I would be interested in any activity that we could share. I am an affectionate lad and adore people; I will happily snuggle up with you on the couch at the end of a day filled with exercise and playtime. Make arrangements to meet me at my foster home and I think you will be impressed with my dynamic brilliance.#2

Story
Bailey is a stray that I recused a little over a month ago. She is a GREAT DOG! COMPLETELY HOUSE BROKEN!!!!! Super sweet and playful. Though she was shy when we first met. I would give her food the days I’d see her which is probably what kept her in the area. It helped me to gain her trust when she was a stray and ultimately I was able to bring her inside my home where I’ve since provided shelter, food and water. Though she is now safe and loved, I’m needing to rehome as I don’t really have the means to provide all she needs. I’m hoping to find someone/ family to love, provide and play with Bailey
