Story
· Intake Reason: Transfer from Louisiana·Weight: 40 lbs. Known with:· Cats: Unknown· Dogs: Good, very playful· Kids: Unknown· Personality: Very energetic; Would benefit from training and routineBonjour, my name is Henri and I am magnificent. My name is of French origin and means ‘Ruler of the Home' which is sort of funny because I do not want to be in charge, I just want you to love me forever. I was in an over-crowded shelter in Louisiana and was excited to be part of a transport heading to WCHS because I have the soul of an adventurer. I am a youngster who is adorable, lively and fun. I am a spunky and energetic lad who truly enjoys staying active. Since I am a puppy, I have so much to learn, discover and explore - just a little sponge who is ready to absorb everything you have to teach me and show me. I am counting on you to help me safely navigate the world and experience new things each day to allow me to grow into a confident young dog. That isn't as exotic and daunting task as it might sound. Each day I just need to be introduced to one new thing like the sound of a vacuum, a blender or a door bell, walking up and down a step, a ride in a car, hearing a motorcycle or a truck, going somewhere to see new people, even maneuvering a fallen log on a walk. You get the idea, so many things that seem common to you are completely new to me. Speaking of growing, I may be small now (I weigh about 36 pounds) but I do plan on getting bigger, so I would love to take obedience classes to learn proper manners and social skills. I will work hard to please you and make you proud; I would love to be a spectacular breed ambassador. I also know I have to practice something called house-training so I know proper potty behavior. A routine, lots of yummy treats and praise will go a long way to helping me master house-training when I potty outside. Puppies and dogs need love, exercise, mental stimulation and consistency to be healthy, happy and confident. I am typically very open to all sorts of housemates; I can be a bit mischievous and may find any other critter as a potential playmate so they will need to understand that about me. I am very interested in other dogs when I see one nearby; I think it would be a blast to have some playmates. I have had the good fortune of having play dates with some other shelter pooches. I often explore the world with my mouth and while I am teething, I like to chew; my little puppy teeth are very sharp so if I am around children we should always be supervised and I should be offered acceptable things to chew on. It is important that children learn about respecting me, too, and treat me gently because I am fragile and sensitive. Raising a puppy is a big responsibility, a lot of work, and it may interrupt your sleep cycle for a bit, but a courteous and well-behaved dog is certainly worth the investment and I promise to be loyal, love you unconditionally and be a companion forever. I am friendly, outgoing and comical; I am confident I will make you smile every day. I hope you stop by to meet me in person because I think we will have a grand time together.#1

Story
·Intake Reason: Stray·Weight: 48 lbs. Known with: ·Cats: Unknown ·Dogs: Unknown ·Kids: Unknown ·Personality: Gentle, sweet and affectionateGreetings, my name is Chloe which means ‘blooming', like a pretty little flower. My history is a bit of a mystery because I came to WCHS as a stray when my people got lost. The only thing I know for sure is that I am gracious, charming, polite and loving. Sometimes my upper lip gets snagged on my teeth and I look absolutely adorable looking up at you with a toothy grin; I guess I have an underbite. I am hoping for a home where I will get a nice long walk each day so we have lots of time together to bond and I can work on toning up my undercarriage a bit. I am a big-hearted gal who wants to be a true family member and be part of all the fun and activity. It would be lovely if we could take some classes together and practice manners and social skills; that way I will always be welcome everywhere we go and I can be a magnificent breed ambassador. I am such a tender soul, I am sure I can bring sunshine anywhere I go. It would also be grand to take some fun classes to learn new skills like touch or targeting and maybe scent games like nose work. Stop by to meet me in person and you will agree, I am enchanting, endearing and delightful; the sort of pup who would be perfect for you.#1

Story
·Intake Reason: Transfer from Louisiana·Weight: 42 lbs. Known with: ·Cats: Unknown ·Dogs: Unknown ·Kids: Unknown ·Personality: Initially shy but warms up quickly**3 legsHowdy, my name is Ceylon; just like the cinnamon that shares my name, I am a spicy guy. Although I may be a bit cautious with new people in the beginning, in no time I am a cuddle-bug and looking for a good time. Before I left Louisiana to come to WCHS, I had a procedure called a Femoral Head Ostectomy to relieve some pain I was having in my left hip. I feel much better now, although I do need to take things easy for a bit while I heal and build up my muscles; a "false joint" should grow over time to help with my mobility. I learned that the surgery is a fairly common veterinary procedure and I think my prognosis is going to be just fine. I am a youngster who will be getting a bit bigger, but will need my new family to always keep me on the lean side, so I reduce the stress on my hip joints. I have been doing short jaunts with volunteers at the shelter; we do not do anything crazy, but I certainly enjoy getting out in the fresh air and sunshine. My routine is that I walk a bit, then rest for a bit while I get tender scratches and pets and then repeat; I may not put on very many miles, but it is definitely a nice way to spend some time. I am a friendly lad who is handsome, smart and loving; I promise to be devoted to you forever. Come by to meet me in person and soak in my southern charm; I think you will agree that I am perfect for you.#1

Story
·Intake Reason: Originally from MADACC; Surrendered to WCHS due to owner being unable to care for·Weight: 37 lbs. Known with: ·Cats: Unknown ·Dogs: Unknown ·Kids: Unknown ·Personality: Very sweet and playfulHi there, my name is Haley and I am stellar. I was a stray at MADACC (Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission) and got adopted by a person who hoped to make a wonderful life for me. They realized, however, that they were unable to care for me and give me the training, socialization and exercise that I needed to grow into a happy, healthy and confident dog. So, we all agreed, the best plan forward was for me to come to WCHS to look for a new family. I am a spectacular pup who may be a tad shy initially but in no time, I will be looking for some loving, tender scratches and cuddles. I am quite energetic and love to run and play; some say I am as fast as a comet blasting through the sky. I would enjoy taking classes with you and learning obedience and manners so that I am welcome everywhere we go; I would love to be a fabulous breed ambassador. I will need a little practice going for walks on a leash because I tend to walk into you and sort of get underfoot; sometimes I just stop to ask for some snuggles. I have tons of things, places and people that I need to discover; I will be looking to you to help me safely navigate the world and grow into a self-assured gal. I will also need to keep practicing something called house-training so I know proper potty behavior; I have dabbled in that skill but have not had the consistency to be solid with it yet. I am very smart, so I believe I can master anything you want to teach me. I promise to be loving, loyal and devoted; my comical nature is sure to put a smile on your face. Stop by to meet me in person and I think you will agree, I am a heart of gold wrapped in fur.#1
