My name is of French origin and means ‘Ruler of the Home' which is sort of funny because I do not want to be in charge, I just want you to love me forever. I was in an over-crowded shelter in Louisiana and was excited to be part of a transport heading to WCHS because I have the soul of an adventurer. I am a youngster who is adorable, lively and fun. I am a spunky and energetic lad who truly enjoys staying active. Since I am a puppy, I have so much to learn, discover and explore - just a little sponge who is ready to absorb everything you have to teach me and show me. I am counting on you to help me safely navigate the world and experience new things each day to allow me to grow into a confident young dog. That isn't as exotic and daunting task as it might sound. Each day I just need to be introduced to one new thing like the sound of a vacuum, a blender or a door bell, walking up and down a step, a ride in a car, hearing a motorcycle or a truck, going somewhere to see new people, even maneuvering a fallen log on a walk. You get the idea, so many things that seem common to you are completely new to me. Speaking of growing, I may be small now (I weigh about 36 pounds) but I do plan on getting bigger, so I would love to take obedience classes to learn proper manners and social skills. I will work hard to please you and make you proud; I would love to be a spectacular breed ambassador. I also know I have to practice something called house-training so I know proper potty behavior. A routine, lots of yummy treats and praise will go a long way to helping me master house-training when I potty outside. Puppies and dogs need love, exercise, mental stimulation and consistency to be healthy, happy and confident. I am typically very open to all sorts of housemates; I can be a bit mischievous and may find any other critter as a potential playmate so they will need to understand that about me. I am very interested in other dogs when I see one nearby; I think it would be a blast to have some playmates. I have had the good fortune of having play dates with some other shelter pooches. I often explore the world with my mouth and while I am teething, I like to chew; my little puppy teeth are very sharp so if I am around children we should always be supervised and I should be offered acceptable things to chew on. It is important that children learn about respecting me, too, and treat me gently because I am fragile and sensitive. Raising a puppy is a big responsibility, a lot of work, and it may interrupt your sleep cycle for a bit, but a courteous and well-behaved dog is certainly worth the investment and I promise to be loyal, love you unconditionally and be a companion forever. I am friendly, outgoing and comical; I am confident I will make you smile every day. I hope you stop by to meet me in person because I think we will have a grand time together.#1
