Don’t let that serious photograph throw you. I know what you’re thinking - this girl looks mean or stuffy. I can’t get her to smile, but that doesn’t mean she’s not a well adjusted calm and obedient compact little girl. I say little because she’s got short legs. I’ve had her for a couple of years and not because there’s anything wrong with her. I didn’t post her because black dogs are especially if they’re Pitbulls are not very adoptable. In general, they take forever to get adopted. I photographed her in a bathtub that I have outside where she likes to relax and take sun. She rises every morning at 6:45 AM and lets me know she’s ready for breakfast. She’s a low maintenance dog and never want to complain for additional information. Abandoned at a dog park! See last picture. Rescued by a kind member of the community who found Jane, abandoned and left behind with a container of dog food, treats, wearing her dog collar, still attached to the leash! Animal control did not want to pick her up and said if they did, they would take her to another location and 'shoo shoo' her away due to an outbreak of distemper at the Sbdno City Shelter. I guess it was her lucky day because she ended up with me and I have found her to be an absolute delight. A wonderful house guest. Playful, active but not hyper, happy and sociable with other dogs. Princess was reported to local authorities after being hit by a car. She was brought to the local shelter for emergency medical attention but they could not save her rear left leg. Princess was microchipped, but her owner could no longer care for her, so she remained in the shelter. She recovered well and was a favorite of the volunteers. Her missing leg is not a hindrance in her daily life. After living in the shelter just shy of 2 1/2 years, our rescue pulled her into a foster home. Our hope is that we can share her story to a larger audience to find her a forever home. As a senior dog, she likes to chill out and is shy at first, but when she warms up, you will see her loving nature. Currently she lives in a home with children and another dog and is adapting well in the home environment. Contact us for a meet and greet to connect with this amazing dog.

This handsome fella is Platypus. At just 11 months old, Platypus wants exactly what you’d expect from a puppy his age. He wants to run. He wants to play. He wants to wrestle with dog friends and go on adventures. The only problem? Platypus arrived at the shelter with an old hip injury that had never been properly treated. When we learned the extent of his injury, we knew this happy, social kid needed more than a shelter kennel. He needed a safe place to land, the medical care to get his body feeling as good as his spirit and people who could help him channel all that puppy enthusiasm while he heals. So Platypus became a K9 Kismet kid. And honestly, nobody seems happier about this arrangement than Platypus. He LOVES people, has done well with other dogs and is exactly the goofy, affectionate, curious young dog you’d expect him to be. He wants to participate in everything, preferably immediately, and approaches new experiences like they might be the BEST THING THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED. Platypus has already had a full orthopedic workup and his surgery is scheduled. Afterward, he’ll need about 8 to 10 weeks of recovery and rehabilitation before he can finally start doing all those puppy things his body has been asking him to put on hold. And while we’re fixing the hip, our friends at HumbleK9 will be helping with the other end of the leash. Platypus will have the opportunity to train with their team, working on his puppy basics and leash manners. Once his surgery, recovery and training are behind him, we expect this very good boy will be ready for exactly what he’s been waiting for: A happy, full life. Rebel came to us from the Pasadena shelter and was one scared and nervous little guy. Once he realized he was safe, he has turned into a funny and sweet little guy. He absolutely loves toys and has a favorite alligator! He would play fetch for hours if he could! The shelter reported he does not get along with other dogs and we are seeing the same. He would do best as the only dog in the home in order for him to be successful in his forever home. He has not been tested with cats and we don't know his history with children so 10+ would be best. Please consider giving this silly little guy a place to call his own and for someone not to give up on him again.

Meatball (aka Meaty, Meaty B.) came to rescue with a history that left her a little unsure of the world—but never unsure about people. From the moment she arrived, she showed us exactly who she is: a gentle, thoughtful bulldog who prefers to observe first, then join in once she feels safe. Over the weeks in her foster home, Meatball has been quietly blossoming. She’s gaining confidence with the other dogs, choosing to engage more in play, and showing her foster that she’s braver than she first appeared. She still loves her quiet corners—whether that’s a cozy spot outside or a tucked‑away nook indoors—but now she also trots over to join the group when she feels like it. She’s independent, but not aloof; she simply enjoys life at her own pace. Meatball is not aggressive, but she will defend herself if pushed. She and her foster’s dog Cleo mostly coexist peacefully, and Meatball has learned to navigate dog interactions with growing ease. She and Marinara have a bond, but it’s a flexible one—they can be placed together in a home that understands how to supervise them when they get a little “spicy,” or they can be adopted separately. Meatball is perfectly capable of thriving as an only dog. She’s also a bulldog with quirks—endearing ones and honest ones. She loves to chew, and if given the chance she’ll sample furniture, shoes, or anything interesting. She’s working on housebreaking, and while she’s improving, she still occasionally seeks out a quiet indoor spot to poop.
