Story
Forget-Me-Nots are small, sometimes missed, flowers that symbolize true love, loyalty, and remembrance. At the Maryland SPCA, we classify a pet as a Forget-Me-Not to highlight an animal that may have some extra considerations for potential adopters to be aware of. Even though this pet may need a little extra TLC in order to fully bloom, we know they are still a strong candidate for adoption and they're sure to bring true love and loyalty into their new family. We hope you'll remember these beautiful creatures when you consider adopting. Meet Zeuster, a handsome male bully mix with a heart full of potential and a mystery to unfold. This sweet boy was transported from another shelter, and his past remains unknown. Zeuster is on the shy side, requiring a patient and understanding adopter who can offer him a soft landing in his new forever home. This four-legged friend is in search of an older children household where he can blossom at his own pace and have his boundaries respected. Despite his initial hesitations, Zeuster is sure to reward your patience with loyalty and love. Are you the compassionate soul willing to provide Zeuster with the love and security he deserves? Open your heart to this enigmatic canine companion and embark on a journey of discovery together.

Story
Meet Dallas, a lovable chunky boy with a heart as big as his appetite for food. This sweet pooch knows cues like sit, down, leave it, go to crate, and calm. He's housebroken and crate trained, preferring a cozy setup with lots of blankets and a covered crate door left open. Dallas enjoys puzzle toys and enrichment activities, but he's not a fan of ear touches or nail trims. He has a history of living harmoniously with two other dogs, although he may get a bit too excited and jump when meeting new furry friends. Due to his exuberant nature, Dallas is best suited for a home without kids or cats. While Dallas can be calm, he also has burst of energy that require an active household to keep up with him. He's seeking a loving family who can appreciate his sweet side while embracing his spirited personality.

Story
Introducing Chipette, the lovable goofball with a heart of gold and a personality as big as her wagging tail. This furry dynamo isn't just any ordinary pup - she's a bundle of joy with an infectious energy that lights up any room she enters. Chipette's zest for life knows no bounds, and her love for attention is matched only by her love for people and other dogs. Whether it's cuddling up for a belly rub or romping around with her canine companions, Chipette thrives on social interaction and playtime. You'll often find Chipette at the center of playgroups, where she gleefully bounds from one adventure to the next, her tail wagging furiously all the while. But with great energy comes great responsibility, and Chipette's boundless exuberance sometimes leads her to bulldoze into things. That's why she's best suited for a home with older kids who can match her energy levels and understand her playful nature. Despite her occasional clumsiness, Chipette is a big love at heart, and her affectionate nature knows no bounds. Whether she's showering you with kisses or curling up beside you for a nap, Chipette's love is unconditional and unwavering.

Story
Get ready to meet the newest combo meal sensation, brought to you by McDonald's... Oops, we mean McDaddy and his sister wives, McMuffin and McFlurry! These delightful pups were discovered living in a McDonald's drive-thru, where they'd been flipping tails for months. The good news? One of the sister wives, McFlurry, has already found her forever home and is loving life! But the McDaddy-McMuffin duo is still awaiting their perfect match, whether that means together or apart. What's the secret sauce to their happiness? Well, these two definitely need another canine companion to keep those tails wagging! Let's meet the star of the show, McDaddy! He's a sweet, middle-aged guy with a low-energy vibe. He enjoys leisurely strolls through the yard, cozy couch naps, and most of all, he loves chilling in his crate while keeping a watchful eye on the house. McDaddy is a people lover, but he's not so keen on the little ones-they make him a bit nervous. However, when it comes to other dogs, he's a real team player, and those pesky cats? Well, he's too smart to bother with them. He's diligently working on his housetraining manners and wears a fancy belly band until he's mastered it all. But for a former drive-thru aficionado, he's adjusting beautifully to the cozy comforts of home life, complete with his very own spot and foster humans who adore him for exactly who he is! With a heart full of gratitude for his newfound safety, regular meals, and understanding and loving people, McDaddy is more than ready for his forever companion, whether it's a friend for your dog or a package deal with his lovely sister, McMuffin. So, if you're ready to add a dash of love and happiness to your life, don't leave McDaddy at the drive-thru! Swing by and let him be the perfect addition to your family. And don't forget to check out his stunning sister, McMuffin-she's head over paws for her foster home too! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)

Story
Meet the incredible Izzy, although she's also known as Samantha, a true American Staffordshire Terrier mix with a heart as big as the open plains. Izzy's journey hasn't been the easiest, but her unwavering love and loyalty shine bright. With eyes that sparkle like stars, Izzy is the kind of companion that makes every car ride an adventure. She loves hopping in and taking her spot in the backseat, right between her favorite humans, ready to share the road with you. She's a cuddle enthusiast, known to flop down next to you just to feel close and get her fair share of affection. Izzy is well-behaved and knows the importance of a schedule, making potty breaks a breeze. She's kennel trained, but her curious nature and intelligence can sometimes turn her into a bit of an escape artist. She's full of love and a big fan of chew toys, treats, and special puppucinos to celebrate the good times. However, she does get nervous if left alone for too long, stemming from her early days when she waited by a ditch until kind humans came to her rescue. Izzy's heart overflows with love for her people, but she's still working on building trust with male figures due to her past experiences. She's not only great with other dogs, often rolling around in the grass, but she can also tolerate feline friends. However, her feelings towards other cats are unpredictable. And beware, she has a knack for letting everyone know when it's her turn for a potty break with her unique, loud cry. While she's an excellent leash walker, her excitement sometimes gets the best of her, leading her to try and take the lead. But with the right training and a bit more time, she's sure to overcome this small quirk. Izzy is a remarkable girl, full of love and a testament to the resilience of animals. If you're seeking a loyal and loving companion who's come a long way, Izzy is the one for you. She's more than just a dog; she's a treasured family member waiting for her forever home. Are you ready to welcome her into your heart and home? Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

She is happiest when she is center of attention, loves snuggles all day, loves to sleep in the bed and be under blankets.  She is a protective and proud companion.  She listens very well.  She knows:  sit; stay; gentle; down; jump; shake; come - she loves to be right by your side, rarely runs away when off leash; other hand (shake with left paw); go home (which is her designated spot on the couch or her dog bed." Phoebe's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome her:   "We are hoping there is a home better suited for our girl Phoebe.  She absolutely loves attention and playing, but we have a 1 year old boy with another baby on the way, and has a bit too much jealousy energy around little children.  She does great when she is the center of attention, so she would need to be rehomed to a place without children." Phoebe's guardian states the following regarding children:  Although Phoebe lives with a 1yo child, her guardian doesn't recommend her living with young children, stating... "Children are the reason for rehoming Phoebe.  We love our girl but she has made it very clear that she feels displaced by the big change in our household.  We have a one year old and another a newborn on the way.  She whines more frequently, shows nervousness when around children, and has no spatial awareness.  She shows jealous tendencies when attention is being given to baby."   Phoebe's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Phoebe doesn't live with dogs, but her guardian recommends her living with dogs, stating... "Phoebe loves other dogs and is very playful but it can be hit or miss.  Some dogs find her threating and escalation can occur.  She stays at a "free range" boarding place when we go out of town.  There are 30+ dogs at times.  She has always had a great report card.  We have also taken her to dog parks in the past where tussles have occur but nothing severe.  Phoebe loves small dogs in particular.  She regularly visits with a maltipoo. they play all day and love each other.I will say, she is NOT good with other dogs when she is on a leash.  Per her breed, she is very protective.  In short, because phoebe loves companionship, I believe with the right dog she would be very happy to have a companion but it would have to be a dog that is not threatened by her or escalates easily." Phoebe's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Phoebe lives with a cat, so her guardian recommends her living with cats, stating... "Phoebe loves our cat, Andre!  They have their own instagram because they are such great buds.  Albeit, Andre is a very calm kitty, I think that helps.  Phoebe has lived with a previous cat who was a bit of a grouch and they just avoided each other.  Andre is a snuggle bug and they sleep together and play fight.  Phoebe and Andre playing - https://www.jotform.com/uploads/LizLance/81263856341155/5863336631227940079/PhoebeandAndrePlaying.mp3 Phoebe's guardian describes her as: Very active Couch potato Playful Friendly Likes to be touched Affectionate Fearful Protective House-Trained Likes men Likes women Phoebe's guardian describes her ideal future home: "I believe Phoebe would thrive in a home with NO small children.  A home where she will be loved as a "girlfriend" dog.  Someone's snuggle pal and number one companion that takes her on plenty of walks.  Someone who loves to sleep with her in the bed.  I think of a youthful person (20s -30s year old) looking for companionship.  Perhaps a family but with older teenage kids that could handle a big strong girl." Meet Dewey PLEASE NOTE- AN APPLICATION FROM THE WEBSITE ALMOSTHOMEDOGS.ORG IS REQUIRED prior to any meet and greet. Calling, emailing and using the “contact us” link is not useful and will delay your consideration in the adoption of the dog. Petfinder inquires are not sent to us. Hi there! My name is Dewey and I am 50% chihuahua and 50% land seal! 30 pounds at 1.5 years old, housebroken and crate trained-really just the perfect dog. Don't you love my Gorgeous Blue Coloring? What does that mean you ask? Well it means I am a bundle of lovable energy! I do get nervous in new places and meeting new people but once I am comfortable I come right out of my shell and become a lovable, wiggly boy who wants nothing more than to entertain you! I like to chew toys, play fetch, cuddle and laze around in the sun. I also love running and doing zoomies (had surgery on two bad knees, they are better than they have ever been and I can run like the wind). I am going to be a pocket rocket! I'm also very gentle at eating out of the palm of your hand. Land seals are herd creatures so my ideal family will have another dog around my size to play and run with or smaller, or I will be fine in a home without other dogs being the center of your attention. Dewey knows many commands including sit, down, drop it, and stay and is super loving. Loves fetch, is housebroken and very loving, loves to go for long walks. He will be initially nervous with other animals and will need a slow introduction and has lived with other dogs most of his life (the cat in the current foster home scares him). Watch this sweet boy's videos Dewey gets the zoomies... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6x6gf3Yuze8 Dewey is such a good smart boy... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=scogUNyHOXc Dewey loves to fetch... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qq9Gc5E4B2Y APPLY AT ALMOSTHOMEDOGS.ORG (click on the word "Adopt" at top of page to find the dropdown menu with application) The adoption fee is $425, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including age appropriate vaccinations, worming, flea/tick preventative and spay/neuter. . Story
Meet Ruthie, 55 pounds of snugglebug! We adopted Ruthie in February 2022 when she was 9 months old. Since then, she has been living with our family of two adults, a senior dog, and a new baby. She is housetrained, crate-trained, up-to-date on vaccines and flea/tick/heartworm preventatives, and in good health. The birth of our daughter has meant we are unable to devote as much time to Ruthie, and the transition has been hard on her. We think she would be happier in a home where she can get lots of undivided love and attention. Ruth is very energetic and affectionate. She is very active during the day, then loves to snuggle and cuddle at night before bed. She benefits from daily training sessions to reinforce basic commands and satisfy her need for mental stimulation and connection with her owner. She would do well in a home with an adult who works from home, with older children, and/or an active family.

Hey there! My name is Zuri. I am a real sweet and loving little lady who is just a little bashful at first when meeting new people, but if you have a high value treat, I will quickly become your best friend! In my previous home, I did not live with children or other animals, but I have been introduced to a few dogs here at BHS and they really help boost my confidence! I would love the opportunity to have a best friend in my forever home. Interested in adopting me? We recommend submitting a general online adoption application and then heading to the shelter during our normal adoption hours to meet our available animals. Please note: all applications are considered general until the animal has been met. If you have any questions, please contact animalcenter@bmorehumane.org or 410-833-8848 Ext/Opt 2.

Story
Hello there! My name is Lily, and I'm a delightful bulldog mix looking for my forever home. At around 6 years old, I bring a perfect balance of maturity and playful spirit to any household. I'm house and crate trained; smart; and eager to learn. Someone who has a fenced yard or can continue to work on loose leash commands would be best. One of my favorite things in the world is food! You could say I'm a bit of a foodie. Whether it's mealtime or snack time, or if you want to give me extra incentive to learn new things, I'm always ready to indulge in some delicious treats. My happy snorts will let you know if I'm enjoying the cuisine. But don't worry, I know how to enjoy life beyond the dining table too. I have a laid-back personality and find joy in the simple pleasures of life. I LOVE soaking up the sunbeams streaming through the window, and lounging on the couch with my humans. I really am at my happiest when I'm near my people. I ADORE my foster grandpa, so bonus points if you're a senior who is home a lot and loves the company of a great pup like me! I don't have a ton of experience around other dogs, and I enjoy lounging around so much that I would prefer to be your one and only pup. And definitely no cats - I have a high prey drive and like to chase them. If you are looking for the goodest girl with a wiggly butt who gives lots of love and happy snorts, please ask about me - Lily!If you'd like to take me home, please fill out an adoption application at this website -www.animalalliesrescue.org/adoption-application - and choose me, Lily! My adoption fee is $300 and AARF wants me to tell you that their adoption package covers all expenses needed to prepare dogs like me for our forever homes. By the time you meet us, we've already been spayed/neutered (if age appropriate) and microchipped. We've been checked by a veterinarian, and we're up to date on age appropriate immunizations against rabies and DHLPP (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parainfluenza, and parvovirus). We've been tested for heartworm and other tick borne diseases (4DX), and we've started our heartworm and flea preventive medications. Some of us have had extensive surgeries, dental work, or other necessary procedures. AARF is committed to getting all of us entirely ready for a happy, healthy, love-filled life!

Betty is a Great dog, loving dog but i don’t have the time anymore for her and it’s hard for me to do this. I’ve had her since she was a puppy. But with my busy schedule is hard for me to keep up with her in a way i would like. Like all bulldogs she does have allergies and requires maintenance. She is up to date with shots.
