You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.Harley is such a great dog! A note from his foster:  He’s perfectly well-behaved in the house. House-trained, gentle and happily goes into his crate at night or when asked. He’s smart and knows some commands. Seems to take satisfaction from pleasing humans, with just enough personality to make you laugh. He knows enough to test boundaries, but quickly course-corrects. This pup is grateful for getting the pets and is thrilled with the bully-rub.  He’s happy to nap by your feet during work calls, lay in the sun, and eager to go for walks. Good on a leash. Happy to sit for his harness and takes commands well when leaving the house. His prey drive is high — gets too excited about squirrels, most birds, other critters that scurry. He’s not well-suited for other dogs. Or cats.  He’s got some hound in his mix; loves to sniff and on the occasions when a siren would pass he would sing along. (Adorable.) Not a crazy barker, but can sound fierce when he does bark. He’s more of a gentle giant with humans. Did just fine with new people coming into the home. Sheds a lot!  Harley would live his best life in a home where he’s the only pet. A privacy-fenced yard to run free in would be nice, I suspect, but he’s seemingly just as happy to live in a city and go for walks a few times a day. Contact with other dogs would have to be limited.  He’s the perfect dog if you’re looking for a loyal best friend, and don’t have other pets.  Due to his being dog selective, we will only place Admiral in a home with childern 14 and older. If you are interested in Admiral, please contact: rorrcanine@gmail.com      *** Click here to sponsor this dog! *** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 24, 2024, 8:20 pm

Story
We’ve had Thor since he was 8 weeks old. He is a 6 years old and is the bestest boy. Except when kids and/or other animals come into the mix. Thor grew up to be a very insecure pup thanks to our oldest dog (now deceased) who constantly bullied him around causing them to have physical altercations. Thor no longer felt safe around any of our children either. He is amazing around adults, male and females, he just does not do well with children or animals. I do believe he can be rehabilitated from this, but unfortunately, our family do not have the means to be able to cover the cost of training. He loves snuggles and butt scratches, loves to play fetch and run around like the wild meatloaf he is. Beware of his hugs though! Being a meatloaf comes with downsides!

Hey there! My name is Zuri. I am a real sweet and loving little lady who is just a little bashful at first when meeting new people, but if you have a high value treat, I will quickly become your best friend! In my previous home, I did not live with children or other animals, but I have been introduced to a few dogs here at BHS and they really help boost my confidence! I would love the opportunity to have a best friend in my forever home. Interested in adopting me? We recommend submitting a general online adoption application and then heading to the shelter during our normal adoption hours to meet our available animals. Please note: all applications are considered general until the animal has been met. If you have any questions, please contact animalcenter@bmorehumane.org or 410-833-8848 Ext/Opt 2.

Courtesy post for Mike: Contact Mike at 410-372-7366 today to learn more about these amazing dogs and how you can bring them home. Mike is having surgery and looking for new home for his 2 pitties as he will not be able to care for him after surgery and is also moving to a condo this summer where pitties are not allowed.   Looking for a loving and affectionate companion to add to your family? Meet Daisy and Diesel, two non-bonded pitties who are as sweet as can be and just love to be loved on! These well-natured pups are a joy to be around and love making new friends, whether it's other dogs at the pet store or their humans at home. Daisy is a 6.5-year-old pittie who weighs 45 pounds, while Diesel is 5.5 years old and weighs 35 pounds. Although they are half-siblings, we believe that separate homes would be best for these two lovable dogs. Both Daisy and Diesel are crate trained and ready to find their forever homes. If you're looking for a loyal and loving companion who will always be by your side, look no further than these two wonderful pitties. Don't miss out on the opportunity to give Daisy and Diesel the love and care they deserve. Contact Mike at 410-372-7366 today to learn more about these amazing dogs and how you can bring them home.

Story
Courtesy post   Tommy is a 7 year old American Pitbull Terrier. He is a loving dog that is eager to be a good boy for the right family. He loves people and gets along well with them. He knows commands such as Sit, Stay, Come, and Go Lay Down. Tommy is also potty trained. His favorite things are going for car rides, walks, and rolling in the grass. He dislikes fireworks and thunderstorms. An ideal home for Tommy is one where there are no cats since he is cat reactive, and with an experienced dog owner who is often home.   Tommy does have a growth that is a fatty tumor on his left back leg (shown in the 3rd photo). He is up to date on all his vaccinations.   Email Jazmin at 20jjpasso@gmail.com ***Disclaimer*** Unfortunately, there are not enough rooms at the inn to admit every dog that needs a furever home. But, we still want to help those dogs (and cats) on their journey! Story
Courtesy post...now at Carroll county humane society "Sam is my dad's dog. My dad has been in the hospital for a couple of months and won't recover enough to be able to take care of Sam. I can't keep him in my apartment with breed and weight limits. I also can't keep him with my 4yr old kid (someone with the bandwidth to bring in a trainer probably could). Sam is a 75-lb cuddle-bug. He's a senior, at least 11 years old. He likes to rest his face on your lap and be pet endlessly. He is great with adults. When workmen were coming into his home, complete strangers, he requested pets - no sign of aggression. When boarded, employees fell in love with him, calling him a "big baby". He would do very well in a home with no other dogs. He has no experience with cats. Sam does well when left home for a few hours at a time. No accidents. Just vibrating for attention when you arrive home. Sam might not be great with young children: he occasionally shows some dominating behavior towards my 4 year old, pawing her and nipping at her shirt. I pull him away, reprimand him, and everyone is fine. Sam does show signs of aggression towards at least some other dogs. He had a fight with an illegally off-leash dog that approached him. Sam bit at the other dog's owners who went between the dogs to separate them. Sam also pulls at the leash when he sees other dogs in the distance - I haven't tested if or when this is aggression versus wanting to socialize. Sam is microchipped and up-to-date on his vaccines.   ***Disclaimer*** Unfortunately, there are not enough rooms at the inn to admit every dog that needs a furever home.
