Story
Meet Calypso! She is a 5yr old female American Staffordshire/Cane Corso mix that weighs 57lbs. She came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter as a stray on 9/19. She is a gentle loving soul. With her rich golden brown eyes and an adorable smile, you can`t help but fall for her. She may also have some cattle dog or lab retriever also in her mix. She walks well on a leash, knows the sit command enjoys being petted and loved on. She will jump on the bench to cuddle close to you, and even sneak in a kiss on your cheek. Its possible she may be housetrained a bit. Walking past other dogs barking at her, she showed no interest, but we do ask if you have another dog in the home, to please ask the shelter for a dog test. When you look into her eyes, you just see so much love and affection she has to offer. She dreams of having her own family, that can give her plenty of love and affection. A secured yard to play in, but definitely live indoors where she can cuddle close. She has truly captured my heart! Come meet Calypso!

Story
Meet Thelma! She is a 1yr old beautiful golden eyed female Staffordshire Bull/American Staffordshire Terrier mix that weighs 36lbs. She came into the shelter on 10/2 as a stray. Reviewing her pictures through dog scanner, stated there may also be cattle dog in the mix. No matter, she is a very sweet gentle loving pup. She can be shy initially, but given some time she becomes your BFF. She walks well on a leash, takes treats gently and maybe housetrained. She has been very well cared for as can be seen in her clean, soft fur. She loves to be petted and loved on, will give you kisses on your hand, and will sneak a kiss or two on your face. She didn`t show much interest in toys, and the squeaky ones seemed to frighten her. As other dogs were barking at her, she didn`t show any interest, as she wanted to go out into the yard to stretch her legs. While out in the yard she had a burst of the zoomies, with her ears up and a big smile on her face. She hopes to find her own loving family soon, a secured yard to play in, but definitely be an indoor pup as she is a great cuddlebug! You couldn`t ask for a more loyal loving companion!

Story
Madison is a 3yr-old, 45lbs brindle terrier that arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 10/2 as a stray. When she was out in the yard, she would stay still for long periods of time but then would casually wander around. When I called her from across the yard, she slowly came to me. She is timid, cautiously friendly, and does want affection. She’s alert and looked out the gate. She took some coaxing to walk on a leash. If you have another dog, please ask the shelter to do a dog test. Madison needs TLC and affirmations to relax and then blossom. She’s a work in progress. It’s difficult to see what her true personality will be once trust is established . There’s no doubt though that she is sweet and wants to be loved. Story
Meet Howie! He is a 3yr old male Bull Terrier/Staffordshire mix that weighs 54lbs. He came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter as he was abandoned on 8/18. This boy is such an adorable sweet loving pup! He enjoys being petted and loved on, I gave him hugs/kisses and he looked at me with happy eyes and a big smile. He walks well on a leash, takes treats gently, tho he wasn`t fond of any of mine. He does appear to be housetrained and has been well cared for too. We enjoyed going out for walks, and tho he did not show any reaction to other dogs we do ask if you have one in the home, to please ask the shelter for a dog test. He would follow me around and when I sat down he gently put his hands in my laps to be close to give kisses and receive hugs. He would make a wonderful companion to a loving family. Having a secured yard he can play in but come back inside to be close and cuddly is what this sweet boy deserves. Please come meet him and you will understand why he is a Volunteer Favorite!!

Story
I named this sweetie Fawn because of her coloring. She is a 3 year-old 45lb Staffordshire pit (possibly sharpei mix) that arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 10/2. Now that was a month ago! She’s had a hard life due to the fact she was an outside dog that did not receive much socialization. With TLC and time spent, she would romp and frolic in the yard and then come back and sit next to me. We are now BFF’S! There’s no doubt she wants and deserves affection. She’s got a heart of gold. She’s well mannered, cautiously friendly, and gentle. Fawn has the purest loving heart and with her own loving family she will blossom. She walks well on a leash. She deserves to be an inside dog this time around so she can enjoy the luxury of being pampered. Please please be her hero.

Story
(Dallas, Texas - Foster/Adopter desperately needed) King truly needs a hero, and we know that people with generous and kind hearts are out there. King is a playful guy, about 4.5 ~5 y & 40-45 lbs, so loving and content with whatever affection you'd give him. (a couple of videos in the Comment) King was abandoned and left alone in a small backyard run/kennel for 4 years exposed to all weather elements and confined in isolation and loneliness. We were so heartbroken seeing him carrying his bowl panting alone in the heat and dirt last summer, so Angie rescued him. Yet, without a foster, King's been living in a crate at a boarding facility for a year, and we desperately want him to have a chance to learn and enjoy living in a home! King's had several training sessions at the boarding facility, learned some basic commands and to trust humans, and is especially smitten by ladies. King's now a happy guy and loves loves the attention (& treats, of course). King enjoys a quiet life with NO other animal, being with humans, and feeling the breeze and sunlight on his face. King's content with carrying and chewing his toys by himself without the bother of the world. We really believe that a soul who suffered years of neglect and desolation deserves an understanding person/family to love him, and King'd give absolute devotion in return. King needs to be the only dog, is fixed, crate and house trained, and shots up to date. Please let us know if your home has a warm spot for King (for foster, Angie's Friends will provide everything that King needs).  October 13, 2024, 11:35 pm
