Story
Toast has been part of our family since he was an 8-9-month-old pup in Chicago. He loves the sunshine, fetching, sleeping, hiking, and taking long walks. We’ve taken long-distance road trips together, and he’s always been a great travel companion. He’s chill mostly and a wonderful protector, especially for me, and a loyal friend. Unfortunately, we need to find him a new home as we welcome our first baby. His playfulness can be a bit too much for small children, so we recommend a home without young kids- preferably an adults-only household.

Story
“S’mores is the BEST snuggler I’ve ever had. If someone wants a friend for their dog and a couch potato with people—she is it!” (says her foster, see pic!) Meet S’mores, a gentle soul with a heart of gold. This sweet girl may not love big events, but she absolutely thrives at home. Her happy place? Curled up on the couch next to her favorite humans or romping around the yard with her dog friends. S’mores needs a little time to settle into new surroundings—she may lay low under the bed and watch quietly until she feels safe. Giving her space, letting her come to you, and avoiding too much direct eye contact at first are key to earning her trust. But once she’s in, she’s all in. You’ll have a loyal, affectionate shadow who loves to snuggle and be part of the pack. She is housebroken, crate trained and walks on a leash pretty well. She’s incredible with other dogs—playful, respectful, and great with all sizes and personalities. We’re looking for a home with at least one other dog to help her adjust and show her the ropes. She will need a home with no cats. S’mores currently lives with older kids and does great with them. Due to her shy nature, she’s best suited for a calmer home without young children. After spending the first year of her life with little human interaction, S’mores has blossomed in foster care. Now, she’s ready for a forever home that will be patient, kind, and full of love. She deserves nothing less. https://bit.ly/codys_adoption_application. ##2261720##

Story
Meet Kenna! A spirited almost six-year-old Boxer/Weimaraner mix currently living in Austin, TX, whose essence is a joyful whirlwind of energy wrapped in a stunning white coat with brown brindle patches. Kenna is an explorer at heart—part adventurer, part cuddle bug, and all heart! With 54 pounds of enthusiasm and affection, this girl is most in her element when she’s tearing through a fenced yard, playing tug-of-war, or solving a tricky treat puzzle. She's mastered a whole toolkit of commands—sit, shake, lay down, up, spin, high five, and wait/okay—which she proudly demonstrates in exchange for attention or a dental chew (her absolute favorite treat in the world!). A born runner and a big fan of playtime, Kenna thrives on activity and routine. She’d flourish in a home where her new family enjoys outdoor adventures and can keep up with her zest for life. She adores people and will happily shadow her caregiver around the house, offering soulful gazes and enthusiastic tail wags! She’s deeply affectionate and forms strong bonds with her people, which makes her prone to separation anxiety when left alone suddenly—especially in confined spaces. Leaving her with a favorite toy or a stuffed treat helps her stay calm while you're away. She also has a fear of running water, likely due to past trauma, and will do best with outdoor bucket baths rather than showers or tubs. Her guardian has worked hard to ease this fear with patience and understanding, and Kenna continues to thrive in the right environment. True to her Boxer roots, Kenna has a strong protective streak and a watchful eye. She’s been known to get excited (and vocal) when she spots what she believes to be intruders—whether that’s a squirrel, a biker, or a wayward jogger in the park. With a confident caregiver using positive reinforcement and a steady hand during walks or vet visits, Kenna stays grounded and well-behaved. Kenna’s ideal home includes a fenced yard, an active routine, and a pet parent who shares her love of outdoor adventures and who will respect her sensitivities while embracing her endless love. While she’s never lived with another dog, she does great at doggy daycare and may do well with a similarly sized, confident canine companion. Cats, on the other hand, are not her thing—she tends to see them more as critters to chase! Kenna is spayed, microchipped, house-trained, up-to-date on vaccines, and on a special diet to keep her feeling her best. This dazzling, doting, and deeply loyal pup is ready to fill your life with laughter, loyalty, and all the tail-wagging affection you can handle! Reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com to learn more about making this loving adventurer part of your family!
