Story
Hello! This is Mochi (mo-chee) and he is around 10 yrs old (could be younger since he was a stray) We are looking to rehome Mochi in preparation for life changes within the next year. I’m looking much earlier in advance so I have time to vet ppl out. Mochi is calm like 80% of the day despite being a mix of a bunch of herding dogs but definitely gets more energetic after work hours. He had heartworms after I initially adopted him 5 years ago but those were treated w no issues. He is not a super cuddly dog but definitely enjoys people and being pet. Just not hugs, being lifted, or his tail being touched while he’s resting. Hes also doesnt have the best track record w other animals especially ones bigger than him (could also be my inexperience w dog behavior though) He plays on the rougher side for some people but he is also very food motivated. Ultimately I think it’s better for him that he be in a home that can spend more time than we can into him.

Story
LIO is an easy going special needs 2 year old Australian Cattle dog terrier mix looking for a loving human companion. He is a special boy who is deaf, but it is hard to tell because he adapts easily. Would be best with an adopter who can be in charge and give him clear expectations of what is expected of him. In return, you will have a loving companion, who wants to please and enjoy life with you. Moderately active boy, who even though he is young, is not hyper or nervous. Happy to go for walks, cuddle up on the couch, lay at your feet while you work on the computer or follow you around the yard as you garden. He just wants love, attention (but not needy) and a soft place to lounge. Dog friendly with female, large and small dogs who won't get 'yappy' in his face. He would love to be your one and only, getting all of your affection. Housetrained, with good house manners. Crate trained, although not his favorite, he will go in, but would prefer to be laying at your feet. Enjoys sitting in his human's lap, getting pet and belly rubs. He enjoys treats, dog toys, long belly rubs, lounging in the pool on the steps or sunning himself in the yard. Great car rider who likes to feel the fresh air and sunshine on his face. Lio has had professional training learning how to walk next to his person on a leash, and has mastered commands 'sit, down, stay and off'. Sleeps through the night in his own bed. Has not been destructive inside or outside. Not a big barker at all. Has not been cat tested, so we are unable to adopt him to a home with cats or small critters. He would be great for a family with grown children, single person or a couple. A home with a fenced yard would be best to keep him safe. Deaf dog experience is not required, just a good adopter, willing to be a leader and give him a loved life. Lio is 49 lbs, neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, including rabies, heartworm negative and current on prevention. Fostered in Texas, with transportation available to most U.S. states.

Story
Sadie is very energetic and is very sharp- she is quick to p/u new commands, she has had some initial training and excelled. She loves to run and jump, she does enjoy digging holes, too. There is some issue with the dynamics with the older dog, on both sides - this is the reason we suggest she be a single pet. We do not feel we are doing either dog justice since Sadie should have a lot more activities than we are able to provide, mainly due to our health. We would love for her to get a home that she thrives in and gets to go on adventures. She is a very sweet dog and we are sad but this is what would be best for both of these fur- babies

Story
Hi! My name is Squirrel, and I am so ready to meet my fur-ever family! My big foster fur sister and I can play for hours, and every second of it is so much fun! Everything that she does, I do. She is such a good teacher and friend, and we get along so well. She has taught me a lot of manners. Like, I remember when I first came home, I used to jump on people, but now I don’t do that much anymore. One thing she hasn’t taught me to do is bark, and I think my foster mom loves that. My big fur sister barks a lot to protect me, so I guess I don’t see a reason to bark. Although I love my goofy big dog sister, I am looking forward to spending my life with you. I love, love, love my toys. All kinds of toys really. I will fetch and play and chew on any toy you have all day long. I even have cloth squeaky toys and I am very gentle with those, but I prefer harder rubber toys. Anything that bounces that I can chase after really catches my attention. Did I mention I love toys?! Just make sure you put away anything that you don’t want chewed on, because I think everything in the house is a toy, and I don’t want to tear up anything that doesn’t belong to me.Did you say walk? Yes, please. I love my walk time because I have quite a bit of energy that I need to get out. I call this energy love, and that is why I have so much of it. Now, I could use some leash training if you know how to teach me. I just think I get so excited about everything outside that I cannot slow down and I want to pull my foster mom everywhere and show her all the really cool things outside. I am very interested in cats, birds, and squirrels (I think that is where I got my name from) so make sure you hold tight to my leash! I am house-trained and I love my dog door, so if you have a dog door, that is a big plus! I love going out and laying in the sun whenever I want, or swimming in the little pool I have in the yard. I feel so comfortable in my kennel. That is my place to relax and escape. My foster sister does not like my kennel, so I get it all to myself. I don’t need to sleep in your bed at night unless, of course, you let me. However, just be warned, if you let me sleep in your bed, I won’t stop cuddling! I love to cuddle! I will cuddle into every tiny space there is. I am so sweet and love to burrow my head under blankets, pillows, legs, really anywhere. So, you have been warned! As I said earlier, I don’t bark, but I do whine (at least

Story
Are you looking for a fun loving, goofy and energetic puppy? If so, Huey is your boy! He’s been storing up his energy after some time spent in the ICU with a broken leg and now that he’s feeling better he can’t wait to be the silly pup that he is! Healing from an injury is hard work for a puppy so he hasn’t really been able to focus on things like leash manners so he’s hoping someone can help him clean those up! Huey absolutely loves to play with toys, in fact if you give him one he will often toss it around in the air and have himself a ball! (Just be sure to take it away after because being a puppy sometimes it can be hard to tell food from toys)! Huey would love a family that is willing to help him learn and finally let him show off his goofy personality outside of the shelter and in a loving and committed home. If he sounds like a pup you would like to meet, come on down, he’s waiting for you!

Story
Spike is coming up on his 1 month anniversary at AAC at the end of February, and we hope that is a milestone he never needs to meet!We have observed Spike to be housetrained already, as he frequently goes to the bathroom in designated spots at the shelter which will make his transition home easy for you both. Spike also thrives on frequent exercise and stimulation. Whether you can provide that with consistent walks, mental stimulation with dog treats and toys, or a secure backyard where he can roam free on his own, Spike will be one happy boy! He loves playtime, toys, doggy play group with other pups, and running around.Spike is friendly with other pups. He even has a doggy roommate at AAC, so we think he may be compatible to live in a house with another pup. To ensure everyone gets along, we will host a doggy meet up with your resident dog and teach you how to intro the dogs during this transition. This adorable, sweet and playful 39 lb dog is everything you’d want in a family pup. With those big ears and big tongue when he smiles, he is sure to make your family laugh for years to come.
