Story
https://foha.org/pet/jasper2024/ HELLO EVERYONE! I'm Jasper! You might've known me as Jekyll, but I am loving my new name change! I'm now JASPER and I have a new outlook on life. I've learned a lot about myself and I want to move forward and start my journey of finding a home of my own. My journey began as a stray, but luck turned in my favor when I was rescued and brought to FOHA. I have a lot of past to leave behind but even more future to look forward to! No one will truly know what I went through in my past but trust is something that I need to work on with new people. I'm a little head shy when unfamiliar hands come near me, but I do warm up pretty quick! My friends here can rub me all over and I just LOVE it. I just need one of my friends to help introduce me to new people and show me the way! My new name, Jasper, means treasurer or bringer of treasure. I like this because I want to be YOUR treasure! Playful and sweet, I'm ready to be the source of joy and love in your life. I would do best in a home with a friendly but fairly chill female dog, as I love playing chase with other dogs but I'm not into wrestling. I would be happiest in a home without small animals or young children. If you're in search of a loyal companion dedicated to spreading happiness, look no further - I'm your guy. Let's embark on this new journey together, creating wonderful memories along the way. Come meet me, Jasper, and let's forge a loving bond that will last a lifetime. Jasper is sponsored by: Kim Baggett

Story
https://foha.org/pet/doris/ ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Hi, I’m Doris — and like my name (which means gift in Greek), I bring something special to those lucky enough to earn my trust. I’m confident, smart, and beautiful, with a sassy streak that comes from knowing exactly what I want. I’m not afraid to share my opinions, but I’m also affectionate, playful, and love a good cuddle once we’ve bonded. My favorite things? Splashing around in my pool on hot days, tossing around stuffed toys, going for walks, dressing up in fun costumes, and curling up in soft blankets. I enjoy companionship, but I also value my independence and appreciate having time and space to do my own thing. I like to feel in control of my space and belongings — especially my food — but I’m making great progress with people I trust. Because I’m still a work-in-progress, I’m looking for an experienced adult-only home with no other pets, and minimal visitors. I need a calm, structured environment and someone patient who will go at my pace when it comes to introductions and building trust. If you’re the kind of person who appreciates a one-of-a-kind companion and is willing to meet me where I’m at, I just might be the gift you didn’t know you needed. HOW AM I WITH DOGS: I prefer to be the only pet in the home. HOW AM I WITH CATS: Not recommended — I’m happiest as your one and only. HOW AM I WITH KIDS: Best suited for an adult-only home. I KNOW THE FOLLOWING COMMANDS: Not listed – but I’m smart and independent, and I thrive with consistent structure and clear boundaries. MY HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: I’m fully housebroken and like to keep my space clean. A calm, structured routine helps me feel safe and at home. THINGS I LIKE: My kiddie pool, stuffed toys, cozy blankets, dressing up in costumes, quiet environments, going for walks, and forming bonds with patient people. THINGS I DISLIKE: Strangers, being rushed, sharing my space or food, and chaotic environments. I do best with experienced, respectful handlers. FOHA ADOPTION POLICIES AND PROCESS: https://foha.org/pet-adoption/adoption-policies/ ADOPTION FEE INCLUDES: Spay/neuter, vaccines (rabies, distemper & Bordetella), 1-month access to Petcademy for training and behavior support, slip lead leash, 1 bag starter food, 1 month flea/tick & heartworm preventatives, diagnostic testing, and additional medical procedures as recommended by our vet. Doris is sponsored by: Laura Dove - I hope you find your forever home soon. Check out all of the dogs available at Friends of Homeless Animals! https://foha.org/pet-adoption/find-a-dog/

Aspen is about 1 year old and weighs about 32 lbs. We think she is a Cattle Dog/Husky Mix (just a guess). Aspen has been a great mom to her 5 puppies and now it is time for them all to find their forever homes. Aspen will require an experienced adopter. Aspen is a shy and timid dog who will take time to warm up to a new home. She is great with the resident dogs in her foster home and will require another young and playful dog in her forever home. Aspen would do best with children 7 years and up. Loud noises and unpredictable movements startle her. Aspen is quite energetic and very smart. Aspen is still settling into life in a home and when startled she does look for an "out". She will quickly run and hide but will then relax when she sees there is no danger. Aspen will need another young, confident and playful dog in her forever home to help build her confidence. Aspen will be is spayed on January 19th, she is up to date on vaccines and microchipped. Aspen's heartworm treatment will begin in February. The Adoption Fee is $375.00 ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from CKRescue*** ***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check. Vetting of current and past pets is very important to us, thus we will be speaking with the vet(s) listed on your application to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies), spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.*** Our organization cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. IF YOU ARE VIEWING THIS LISTING ON PETFINDER OR ADOPT-A-PET, please visit: Caninesandkittiesrescue.org to access adoption requirements, more information and pictures. Meet Pepper! Pepper is about 2 years old and weighs about 35 lbs. We think she is a Cattle dog mix - Just a Guess.:) Pepper is a playful and sweet girl who is loving life now that her past is behind her. Pepper had demodex mange which left her skin very sore and painful. Pepper's skin is now looking much better after medication and baths. Her foster family has done a fantastic job of getting Pepper back to health. Pepper's favorite pastime is running, wrestling and jumping off the couch while she plays with the resident dogs in her foster home. Pepper also enjoys snuggling with her foster mom and dad on the couch once playtime is over. Pepper has a bit of resource guarding and her foster family is working on this with her. Pepper has not been around cats so we will not place her in a home with cats. Pepper is not in a foster home with children, but has met children and we feel if there are children in her forever home she would do well with dog savvy children 5 years and up. Pepper would be fine as an only dog or in a home with another young and playful dog. Pepper would do best in a home where someone is around a good portion of the day as this is what she is used to in her foster home. Pepper will be spayed in at the end of January, is up to date on vaccines and microchipped. Story
It’s Mardi Gras season! Maggie is celebrating from Virginia. She is a 3 1/2 yr old 60 lbs Australian Shepard mix. Has been in foster with HMR for awhile and is now in Northern Virginia looking for her furever home. She checks so many boxes, absolutely housebroken, crates well if needed. Very, very respectful of the cats, get along with large and small dogs as well. She rides well in a vehicle and as an added bonus has even passed her AKC Canine Good Citizen test (search AKC CGC for more details on that). She is going to form a bond with her owners and will become a friend and protector. While she does enjoy meeting and getting love from new people she does need a moment to make sure they are safe, once she engages with someone new she is charming and charismatic but she definitely isn’t a dog that is going to be leaping on strangers (and honestly, dogs like Maggie are SO much easier to deal with). If you are interested in meeting or learning more about Maggie please fill out an application. She is currently located in Warrenton, VA. https://form.jotform.com/hailmaryrescue/hail-mary-rescue-adoption-applicati
