Story
Kaia is a 2 year old Australian Blue Heeler with lots of energy. She is a really sweet dog, loves to run outside within the electric fence. She also enjoys walking - both on a leash and hiking off leash. She is well trained (and often wears a remote training collar) - understanding the "sit", "come", "heel", and "place" commands. She is spayed, up to date on all shots, and in good health. She rides well in cars. She loves to give dog kisses and loves to have her belly rubbed, but she is not a lapdog. She will take time to relax on her bed if she is occupied with a bone or other chewable. She is good with other dogs (except while eating - she is food aggressive and does not like other dogs coming up to her while eating). She is also great around other animals. We have chickens, rabbits, and cats and she has never been aggressive or hurt any of the animals. We are rehoming Kaia because she needs a more active lifestyle than we provide with all of her energy.

Story
Meet Roxanne! This sweet cattle dog mix is such a cuddle bug! At just four months old, she is already keeping her indoor area clean and goes outside to potty. Roxanne does well with other dogs and cats and loves attention. At this time, she is not a fan of being crated but does well outside of her crate. Roxanne’s current foster says she is absolutely precious and she could just hold her all day long. If this sounds like the pup for you, please complete an application at https://www.saveastray.org/forms/form?formid=3635 Once the application is approved, a FaceTime will be set up for a virtual meet and greet. Since we are located in Mobile, AL, this will give you the opportunity to see the pet interact with other dogs, people, and see a bit of their personality. Transports leave every week alternating between the NE and the Great Lakes. We use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport. Thank you for your interest in a Save a Stray pet.

Story
Ever wonder if it is even possible for show stopping beauty, an amazing brain, AND a five-star winning personality to come in the same package?! Lucky for you — they do for this sweet girl! Juniper is a treasure of a dog, waiting for her forever home. Just look at those beautiful, bright amber eyes and freckled nose. Juniper is a gorgeous girl and a perfect medium size. She always upbeat and carries a smile on her face. Besides her looks, Juniper is also a very smart, trainable girl. The sky is the limit for her. She’s eager to learn. She’s also pretty athletic so she would be a great running companion. Or maybe you’ve always wanted to try dog sports like agility. Juniper would be perfect! And best of all, Juniper has a very sweet disposition with every person she meets. She craves attention from her people and will be a loyal companion for years to come! She would be perfectly content being an only dog or possibly one other canine companion that suits her fancy. She's doggy selective, and would need a little time to warm up to a new BFF once they know she's in charge of the playtime antics. Juniper is a year or two old, 40-45 lb. This animal is being fostered in the South but transport to a location near you is included in your adoption fee. We use Rescue Riders Pet Transport, (www.rescueridersllc.net), the most animal-friendly transport on the road.

Story
https://foha.org/pet/jasper2024/ HELLO EVERYONE! I'm Jasper! You might've known me as Jekyll, but I am loving my new name change! I'm now JASPER and I have a new outlook on life. I've learned a lot about myself and I want to move forward and start my journey of finding a home of my own. My journey began as a stray, but luck turned in my favor when I was rescued and brought to FOHA. I have a lot of past to leave behind but even more future to look forward to! No one will truly know what I went through in my past but trust is something that I need to work on with new people. I'm a little head shy when unfamiliar hands come near me, but I do warm up pretty quick! My friends here can rub me all over and I just LOVE it. I just need one of my friends to help introduce me to new people and show me the way! My new name, Jasper, means treasurer or bringer of treasure. I like this because I want to be YOUR treasure! Playful and sweet, I'm ready to be the source of joy and love in your life. I would do best in a home with a friendly but fairly chill female dog, as I love playing chase with other dogs but I'm not into wrestling. I would be happiest in a home without small animals or young children. If you're in search of a loyal companion dedicated to spreading happiness, look no further - I'm your guy. Let's embark on this new journey together, creating wonderful memories along the way. Come meet me, Jasper, and let's forge a loving bond that will last a lifetime. Story
https://foha.org/pet/doris/ ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Hi, I’m Doris — and like my name (which means gift in Greek), I bring something special to those lucky enough to earn my trust. I’m confident, smart, and beautiful, with a sassy streak that comes from knowing exactly what I want. I’m not afraid to share my opinions, but I’m also affectionate, playful, and love a good cuddle once we’ve bonded. My favorite things? Splashing around in my pool on hot days, tossing around stuffed toys, going for walks, dressing up in fun costumes, and curling up in soft blankets. I enjoy companionship, but I also value my independence and appreciate having time and space to do my own thing. I like to feel in control of my space and belongings — especially my food — but I’m making great progress with people I trust. Because I’m still a work-in-progress, I’m looking for an experienced adult-only home with no other pets, and minimal visitors. I need a calm, structured environment and someone patient who will go at my pace when it comes to introductions and building trust. If you’re the kind of person who appreciates a one-of-a-kind companion and is willing to meet me where I’m at, I just might be the gift you didn’t know you needed. HOW AM I WITH DOGS: I prefer to be the only pet in the home. HOW AM I WITH CATS: Not recommended — I’m happiest as your one and only. HOW AM I WITH KIDS: Best suited for an adult-only home. I KNOW THE FOLLOWING COMMANDS: Not listed – but I’m smart and independent, and I thrive with consistent structure and clear boundaries. MY HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: I’m fully housebroken and like to keep my space clean. A calm, structured routine helps me feel safe and at home. THINGS I LIKE: My kiddie pool, stuffed toys, cozy blankets, dressing up in costumes, quiet environments, going for walks, and forming bonds with patient people. THINGS I DISLIKE: Strangers, being rushed, sharing my space or food, and chaotic environments. I do best with experienced, respectful handlers. FOHA ADOPTION POLICIES AND PROCESS: https://foha.org/pet-adoption/adoption-policies/ ADOPTION FEE INCLUDES: Spay/neuter, vaccines (rabies, distemper & Bordetella), 1-month access to Petcademy for training and behavior support, slip lead leash, 1 bag starter food, 1 month flea/tick & heartworm preventatives, diagnostic testing, and additional medical procedures as recommended by our vet. Doris is sponsored by: Laura Dove - I hope you find your forever home soon. Check out all of the dogs available at Friends of Homeless Animals! https://foha.org/pet-adoption/find-a-dog/

Story
This is Scout (Previously known as Rocky and Rocket).  While we don't know his full story, we know that his original owner did him a huge injustice.  He was not neutered and there were 2 other aggressive males in the home also not neutered.  The owner was about to just release him on the streets to fend for himself until a good samaritan stepped in and offered to take him, suggests he wasn't loved.   Scout is a young Blue Heeler Australian Cattle Dog, estimated to be between 2 and 3 years old.  Typical of the breed he has boundless energy and needs a home that will not only provide him with the love and security he craves but also an active lifestyle that will provide him with the physical and mental stimulation he needs to be the best dog he can be.  He also needs consistent training and an experienced owner to provide him with the confidence and skills he needs to cope with everyday life.  He is very loving toward people but Not good around other animals and is currently dog reactive.  He will need to be in a home as the only pet. No dogs.  No cats, and no small children (due to his energy, he might knock them down).  He also needs a yard with a high fence. He is crate trained but is always very excited to come out and it can be challenging getting him to calm down initially but once he has, he is generally very calm inside the home and loves nothing more then to curl up beside you with his head on your lap. Scout is currently in his 3rd foster home.  His current foster is not able to provide the mental and physical activity he needs and is hoping for Scout's sake, his ideal person and home is out there. Scout deserves the opportunity to show his true self but without the training and right life style, the odds are against him. Scout is recently neutered, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on all his core shots. Contact foster directly at 703-994-0669 or bkohan2018@hotmail.com as this is a guest posting.   Adoption fee: $525, includes all shots, sterilized, heartworm negative, dewormed, flea preventative, microchip   If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application and a representative will get back to you shortly to answer any questions you may have. The adoption policies and applications can be found at the following links: https://fancycats.org/adopt-a-cat and https://fancycats.org/adopt-a-dog. Fosters are like bridges between high kill shelters and forever homes. We need fosters so that we can save cats and dogs before they are euthanized at the shelters.
