Story
Indigo and his litter mates were dropped off at an overly full shelter in NC when they were about 6-7 months old. They were afraid and under socialized. About a month later they were transferred to yet another shelter where we met Indigo. We are working on him getting more confidence by going on outings and introducing him to new surroundings/people/dogs. He’s doing very well but still needs more time doing these things. In the house his "puppyness" is starting to show. He’s more comfortable inside and will become a more normal goofy puppy that makes us laugh every day. He’s doing well with his housebreaking but will need to be taken out after he’s had food and nap time. Indigo responds to Uhuh (as in “no”) and he’s doing very well in the house overall apart from the occasional chewing on things he shouldn’t. We are working on crate training and he’s doing better every day. We transport him in a crate in the car and he’s getting much more comfortable with that as well. Now he sleeps through the car ride. For his breed. Your guess is our guess. We are thinking he might have some Cattle Dog in him? Indigo hasn’t been around children and is afraid of them. Therefore, we recommend a home without kids. He’s done extremely well with the other foster dog in the home (he’s quite smitten with Miss Jessie) and we like the way she sometimes bosses him around. Please come meet this adorable pup with radar ears. If you have any questions about him please let us know. We will be happy to answer them.

Story
Lillie is a super sweet, gracious little girl! She is friendly to everyone she meets, she seems to particularly love children and she gets along well with other dogs. Lillie loves to play with toys, but is equally content laying wherever her people are and just hanging out.  She is a really nice, manageable size and she walks well on the leash on her own or with another dog. She is very good with crate training, going in easily when prompted to do so and for bed time at night. She sleeps in her crate generally from about 10 pm -6 am.  She is very calm for a young dog; but she does love a good zoomie first thing in the morning to get her day going or when playing in the yard. Lillie would be a great addition to a family with children or other pets, she’s very easy to have around, super sweet and loving.Accuracy is not guaranteed; however, information provided is accurate to the best of our knowledge.  For more information on the pet, please send an email to info@aforeverhome.org April 22, 2024, 10:45 pm

Story
Meet Cookie!! This cute as a button little potato is likely a result of irresponsible breeders trying to create a mini cattle dog. He looks like he is a Chi/ cattle dog mix. He came to HART extremely timid and with a few fear based issues and lack of any doggie social skills. He has now spent a couple of weeks with our wonderful trainer and this little guy has made so much progress. Here is what our trainer told us about Cookie: 'He is still a bit shy when he first meets you, but a cuter little man with so much personality it would be hard to find. This is NOT a super athletic, needs a ton of exercise little dog. This is going to be a little dog with a huge personality, but athletically limited, snuggly little potato who would love another confident dog in the home for company and to cuddle with. He's a puppy, so he can be mouthy and pushy with dogs so a dog who will keep him in line and show him that scary things in his new environment are just fine would be ideal. He does not need a super playful rough and tumble companion as at this point his little body likely won't tolerate real rough and tumble play unless it was with another small dog. What he really needs is a role model more than a playmate &#128513,,, He is house trained, crate trained, walks ok on a leash (but really isn't into long walks at this point) a small yard would be ample. He is truly a little dog who would do great in a town house or even apartment. If interested in Cookie, please let us know. Thank you for your interest in Cookie! Please visit www.hart90.org/petdetail.aspx?ID=17156 to get the most up-to-date and accurate information on this pet, to email the contact person listed for more information and how to meet Cookie, or to submit an online application. HART adopts to the local DC/VA/MD metro area only. Visit our website for more information about our adoption process.
