Foster Homes Needed! Do you have time and room in your life for a foster dog? http://www.muttloverescue.org/foster.html *****************   Snuggles fetch and food!  What do these things have in common?  Ranger!  These just happen to be his most favorite things!  If you too love puppy snuggles then he’s the guy for you.   After a seemingly never ending game of fetch, Ranger will happily settle down and chill with a chew bone or even better a nap snuggled up next to his favorite person.   Food is up next on his list of faves, which makes him an ideal candidate for training! He loves to learn and picks up new skills so quickly.  All he needs is a new family to continue his education. It’s hard to believe this adorable guy was taken to a shelter in SW VA after being hit by a car and no one claimed him.  After being cleared by a vet he was able to be transferred to Mutts for a chance at a better life!  It’s taken some time for us to really get to know him but after spending quality time in not one, but two foster homes (he’s so popular two foster families are sharing his time!), we’ve discovered what an amazing boy Ranger is! To note, Ranger can be uncomfortable and reactive to some dogs while on leash.  We feel with the right fear free training, time and patience, this can be managed and improved.  Ranger has had some good play sessions with female dogs and was able to coexist in a foster home with calm, female dogs.  At this time it is best for Ranger to live in a single family home with a fenced yard where his interactions around other dogs can be managed.  He is able to go for walks with a plan and lots of treats for distractions.  Trust us when we say this love bug will be worth all the extra effort! Ranger is 40lbs and 2 yrs old.  **BECAUSE OF OUR REQUIREMENT FOR A HOME VISIT, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO ADOPT TO HOMES IN THE NORTHERN VA / MARYLAND / DC METRO AREA** We have adoption events EVERY SATURDAY from 12-3 p.m. Please note that not all dogs can attend every event, so if you are interested in meeting a particular dog, please complete a no-obligation application on our website at http://www.muttloverescue.org/application.html OR write to adopt@muttloverescue.org. Story
Meet Penelope! This 5-year-old Heeler/Terrier mix has one of the sweetest, most endearing faces you’ll ever see — complete with a perfectly imperfect little smile that could melt anyone’s heart. Her grin might be a bit crooked (her vet thinks she may have had an old injury), but it just adds to her charm and never slows her down. She’s happy, healthy, and full of love to give. Penelope is gentle, well behaved, snuggly, and affectionate — the kind of dog who leans into you for pets and makes you feel instantly at peace. She’s a little shy at first, but once she warms up, she’ll be your most loyal companion and biggest cuddle buddy. She’s very social and does wonderfully with kids, cats, and other dogs. She’s also a smart girl who’s both crate trained and house trained. Penelope is spayed, fully vaccinated, and ready to find her forever family — one that will appreciate her beautiful smile and even more beautiful heart.

Story
-ESTIMATE WEIGHT FULL GROWN: 26 lbs. -ESTIMATED AGE: 2 years old -KNOWN WITH DOGS: Little Red enjoys other dogs once he has the time to meet them politely. He will match the energy of the dogs and provides space when they are all done playing. -KNOWN WITH CATS: Friendly -KNOWN WITH KIDS: He can be a little nervous around children that are a bit more rowdy; but he's been find overall. -KNOWN CUES: Sit and come. -KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: Little Red is housebroken. He could use a little work on his crate training as he can get FOMO when fun stuff is happening near him. -KNOWN LIKES: Food-based chews, stuffed toys, pets and attention from the people he loves. -KNOWN DISLIKES: Little Red can get lonely when his favorite people leave and whine for their return. Little Red is a friendly, affectionate boy and easy companion. He enjoys a nice walk but if you're having a busy day, he's happy to lie on his bed and chew on a long-term chew instead. He's housebroken and friendly with dogs and with cats. Most of all, he enjoys being with people and getting pets and belly rubs. He's tentative in new places and situations but gets over it quickly. Whoever adopts Little Red will be very lucky! Story
Remy is playful, eager to please, food motivated and very intelligent. He absolutely loves other dogs and has made a lot of canine friends on daily walks. He would do great if he had a canine sibling and a fenced yard to play in. Remy is loyal and wonderful to his family. He loves running after a ball or a stick or frisbee and is learning to bring them back to his person. He also loves his toy collection and will go his basket of toys and pick something out when he is bored! We told you he is smart! He needs a slow introduction with strangers because people he does not know appear to make him nervous. He is crate trained and potty trained and would make an excellent jogging or hiking companion. He knows basic commands like sit, down, shake, and he knows to wait patiently for his food at mealtimes. He is currently in a home with a kitten and the two of them get along great. If you are interested in this beautiful and active dog, please let us know. Questions About this Animal?
