Story
Meet Blue! We inadvertently found out about Blue’s plight when rescuing another dog. His owner surrendered her small Chihuahua, Pebbles, to us saying that she had allergies and could no longer afford to care for her. When meeting the owner to take Pebbles in, she let our volunteer know she also had a young puppy penned on the property that she needed to surrender. This gorgeous, goofy puppy had been kept in a filthy outdoor pen in this incredible heat. The owner got Blue via her daughter who got him through a friend, likely another example of unplanned puppies being given away to anyone who will take them. He was only 8 weeks old. As he grew and became more work, he ended up relegated to the pen in the backyard. He lived in that terrible situation for the last 2.5 months with no protection from the elements and little room to move. When Blue started escaping his pen and running free in the trailer park, that became a problem for his owner and she decided to surrender him too. That was Blue’s lucky day… We were told that Blue is an Australian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mix. He looks very Aussie but at 6 months he’s already 43 lbs, so he will be larger than your typical Aussie and . There are 4 larger dogs in his new foster home and he’s quickly assumed the role of cute, fun-loving, and sometimes annoying little brother. We checked in with his foster mom, Laine for an update:   FOSTER MOM UPDATE - 7/17/24 “Blue is a confident, goofy puppy who loves to play and thinks everything is a game…which I like. He’s drop-dead gorgeous and has puppy curiosity and spurts of energy. He goes full blast at times but then likes to nap. He is both housetrained and crate-trained and has started going to the door when he needs to go out. (Good boy Blue!). He also does well on leash. He loves toys, shoes, and ‘ice cookies.’ He’s smart and knows the sound of the ice maker on the frig door and comes running when he hears it. When I’m fixing Kongs, he sits close by my side so he can nudge me and remind me that he’s there waiting for his treat. He curls his front legs in sometimes when he lays down like a cat….I find that adorable. Blue is full of love, joy, and puppy shenanigans. He can be a little annoying to our older dogs when he’s on full blast, but my younger dogs like to play with him. I think he’d be OK as an only dog or as part of a pack. He’s going to grow into a wonderful family dog.” ***** If you are an active family who is ready to add some puppy fun to your life, Blue is your guy! He will be coming to N. VA on 8/10, ready to start his new life.  Apply today!   BREED ESTIMATE: Australian Shepherd (Aussie) Mix GENDER: Male APPROXIMATE WEIGHT: ~ 43 lbs (will be 50-60 lbs fully grown) APPROXIMATE AGE: ~ 6 mos old COAT TYPE: Medium ADOPTION FEE: $425 OTHER INFO: utd on shots/neutered/microchipped LOCATION: Rock Hill, SC   FOR MORE INFO OR TO ADOPT: Please go to https://adopt.worthydog.org and complete the application.
