Story
Meet Scout! Scout's story is one of resilience, hope, and an unbreakable spirit that refuses to give up despite the hand he has been dealt. This striking young man deserves a chance to show the world exactly who he is — and with the right person beside him, there is absolutely no limit to what he can become. His Story We may not know every detail of Scout's past, but what we do know tells us enough. This handsome boy was failed by the people who should have protected him. Living in a home with two other unneutered, aggressive males, Scout was left to navigate a volatile and stressful environment with no guidance, no security, and no advocate. When his original owner decided he was no longer wanted, his plan was to simply release Scout onto the streets to fend for himself — until a compassionate Good Samaritan stepped in and refused to let that happen. Scout did not ask for any of this. He deserved better from the very beginning. But despite everything, this boy's capacity for love and trust remains beautifully intact — and that speaks volumes about the kind of dog he truly is. Who He Is Scout is a stunning 3-year-old Blue Heeler Australian Cattle Dog whose intelligence, loyalty, and energy are everything you would expect from this remarkable breed. Underneath the uncertainty of his past lies a dog who is: Deeply loving and affectionate toward the people he trusts Incredibly intelligent and eager to learn and grow ️ Calm and devoted once settled — nothing makes him happier than curling up beside you with his head in your lap Resilient and hopeful despite everything life has thrown at him His Energy & Needs ⚡ True to his breed, Scout is bursting with energy and drive. He is not a dog who will be content with a short stroll around the block. Scout needs and deserves: An active lifestyle with vigorous daily exercise and outdoor adventures Mental stimulation — puzzle toys, training sessions, and activities that challenge his brilliant mind A securely fenced yard with high fencing to keep him safe and give him space to run Consistent, structured training from someone who understands and appreciates the Cattle Dog breed Important Considerations Scout has had a difficult road and as a result there are some important things to know: No other dogs — Scout is currently dog reactive and must be the only dog in the home No cats or small animals No small children — his exuberant energy could accidentally knock little ones over ⚠️ Crate trained — though he gets very excited upon release and needs patience and guidance to settle initially ✅ Once calm he is wonderfully relaxed indoors and absolutely thrives on close human companionship What He Needs In An Owner Scout is not the right fit for everyone — and that is perfectly okay. He needs someone truly special: An experienced dog owner who understands high-drive working breeds Someone who is confident, patient, and consistent with training A person who can provide the love and security Scout has always deserved but never truly had An active individual or couple who will embrace an adventurous lifestyle alongside him Someone who sees not just who Scout is today but who he has the potential to become His Current Situation Scout is currently in his third foster home. Through no fault of his own, each placement has been unable to fully meet his physical and mental needs. His current foster cares deeply for him and wants nothing more than to see Scout find the home where he can finally exhale, settle, and truly thrive. He is running out of temporary stops — what Scout needs now more than anything is his permanent place in the world. His Health ✅ Scout is healthy and ready for his next chapter: ✅ Neutered ✅ Heartworm negative ✅ Up to date on all core vaccinations ✅ Housetrained ✅ Crate trained The Bottom Line Scout is not a project — he is a promise. A promise that with the right home, the right lifestyle, and the right human by his side, he will become the most devoted, loving, and remarkable companion you have ever known. He has already survived so much. He has already shown so much grace. All he needs now is one person to believe in him and give him the life he has always deserved. "Without the training and the right lifestyle, the odds are against him — but with them, Scout has every chance of being extraordinary." Are you Scout's person? He has been waiting for you — and he is so ready to finally come home.   Contact foster directly at 703-994-0669 or bkohan2018@hotmail.com as this is a guest posting. Story
Ever wonder if it is even possible for show stopping beauty, an amazing brain, AND a five-star winning personality to come in the same package?! Lucky for you — they do for this sweet girl! Juniper is a treasure of a dog, waiting for her forever home. Just look at those beautiful, bright amber eyes and freckled nose. Juniper is a gorgeous girl and a perfect medium size. She always upbeat and carries a smile on her face. Besides her looks, Juniper is also a very smart, trainable girl. The sky is the limit for her. She’s eager to learn. She’s also pretty athletic so she would be a great running companion. Or maybe you’ve always wanted to try dog sports like agility. Juniper would be perfect! And best of all, Juniper has a very sweet disposition with every person she meets. She craves attention from her people and will be a loyal companion for years to come! She would be perfectly content being an only dog or possibly one other canine companion that suits her fancy. She's doggy selective, and would need a little time to warm up to a new BFF once they know she's in charge of the playtime antics. Juniper is a year or two old, 40-45 lb.

Story
Meet Roxanne! This sweet cattle dog mix is such a cuddle bug! At just four months old, she is already keeping her indoor area clean and goes outside to potty. Roxanne does well with other dogs and cats and loves attention. At this time, she is not a fan of being crated but does well outside of her crate. Roxanne’s current foster says she is absolutely precious and she could just hold her all day long. If this sounds like the pup for you, please complete an application at https://www.saveastray.org/forms/form?formid=3635 Once the application is approved, a FaceTime will be set up for a virtual meet and greet. Since we are located in Mobile, AL, this will give you the opportunity to see the pet interact with other dogs, people, and see a bit of their personality. Transports leave every week alternating between the NE and the Great Lakes. We use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport. Thank you for your interest in a Save a Stray pet.

Story
Foster Homes Needed! Do you have time and room in your life for a foster dog? http://www.muttloverescue.org/foster.html *****************   Snuggles fetch and food!  What do these things have in common?  Ranger!  These just happen to be his most favorite things!  If you too love puppy snuggles then he’s the guy for you.   After a seemingly never ending game of fetch, Ranger will happily settle down and chill with a chew bone or even better a nap snuggled up next to his favorite person.   Food is up next on his list of faves, which makes him an ideal candidate for training! He loves to learn and picks up new skills so quickly.  All he needs is a new family to continue his education. It’s hard to believe this adorable guy was taken to a shelter in SW VA after being hit by a car and no one claimed him.  After being cleared by a vet he was able to be transferred to Mutts for a chance at a better life!  It’s taken some time for us to really get to know him but after spending quality time in not one, but two foster homes (he’s so popular two foster families are sharing his time!), we’ve discovered what an amazing boy Ranger is! To note, Ranger can be uncomfortable and reactive to some dogs while on leash.  We feel with the right fear free training, time and patience, this can be managed and improved.  Ranger has had some good play sessions with female dogs and was able to coexist in a foster home with calm, female dogs.  At this time it is best for Ranger to live in a single family home with a fenced yard where his interactions around other dogs can be managed.  He is able to go for walks with a plan and lots of treats for distractions.  Trust us when we say this love bug will be worth all the extra effort! Ranger is 40lbs and 2 yrs old.  **BECAUSE OF OUR REQUIREMENT FOR A HOME VISIT, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO ADOPT TO HOMES IN THE NORTHERN VA / MARYLAND / DC METRO AREA** We have adoption events EVERY SATURDAY from 12-3 p.m. Please note that not all dogs can attend every event, so if you are interested in meeting a particular dog, please complete a no-obligation application on our website at http://www.muttloverescue.org/application.html OR write to adopt@muttloverescue.org. Upcoming adoption events:                Saturday  Apr 4th 12 -3 pm Weber's Pet Supermarket; 11135 Lee Highway; Fairfax     Saturday  Apr 11th 12-3 pm Weber's Pet Supermarket; 2280-C Hunters Wood Plaza; Reston     Saturday Apr 18th 12-4 pm  Eavesdrop Brewery; 7223 Centreville Rd; ste 115; Manassas     Saturday Apr 25th 12-3 pm Weber's Pet Supermarket; 2280-C Hunters Wood Plaza; Reston We are always desperate for foster homes, now more than ever.
