Story
Meet Vena! She is a 4 yr old spayed female Australian Kelpie/Australian Cattle dog that weighs 48 lbs. She came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter as a stray on 4/11. Why this amazing girl is still at the shelter and not in a loving home I can't understand. Not only is she stunning, but has the most loving personality. She walks well on a leash, takes treats very gently and is a big lovebug. When you sit down she will put her paws in your lap, lean over your shoulder to receive a hug. She will give you kisses too, with a big smile on her face. In the shelter yard she showed me how great she was at doing zoomies and it was so much fun to see. She did not show any interest in the other dogs barking at her, but we do ask if you have another dog in the home to ask for a dog test. She also met a cat and she was not too fond of them. Vena is a well mannered, sweet friendly girl that will lean into you for petting. She is the full package that would be such a great companion to a loving family. Having a secured backyard to do zoomies in, then live indoors where it is comfy, cozy and taking long naps next to her family companions is what this girl dreams of. Please come meet her!

Story
Let me introduce you to Dakota, one of our newer residents at the Mesquite Animal Shelter picked up by one of our officers on 6/3. He weighs 60 pounds, is about 3 years old and is neutered. He is an Australian Kelpie mix. He is a stunningly attractive fellow with standup ears, a beautiful coat, and clear blue eyes. He knows the sit and paw commands. He will sit for treats and takes them politely. He showed off his athleticism by nimbly climbing up on our play equipment. He spent some time with his nose to the ground, checking out all the fascinating smells in the yard. He chased but did not return the tennis balls I threw. He is lively, spunky, and a happy-go-lucky boy. He has an outgoing and confident personality. Being a herding breed, he tries to herd the person who is walking him. This could be an issue if adopted into a family with very small children. He is a very likable boy and highly adoptable. Dakota is friendly and was happy for me to pet his soft, silky fur that has a sheen to it! Will you consider helping him out of the shelter?

Story
What a charming girl Luna Paisley is! This medium-sized, high-energy girl exudes love. She's exceptionally friendly with all the people and pups she meets, including youngsters. She's easy to love in return, and her amazingly soft fur makes people want to pet her. Hiking and running are two of Luna's favorite activities, so grab her leash and let's go. Not surprising for this 18-month-old lady. She's food motivated and smart, so snag the treats and help her increase her skills. She enjoys food puzzles, so she'll want to keep her brain as active as her body. She'll even play games with the most serious of hounds. Getting her into a busy family routine will be easy, since she adapts to the routine of the people around her. Because of her energy, having a variety of friendly faces to participate in playtime and encourage her to be the wonderful girl she's meant to be. All Dallas Pets Alive adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon adoption. The standard minimum donation for dogs over six months to seven years is $200, puppies under six months is $250, dogs eight years and over are $100 unless specified otherwise. Story
This sweet girl showed up to our property near the beginning of July 2023. She has been spayed, up to date on vaccines, and is free of fleas and ticks. She did test positive for heart worms initially, but has been on the proper medication for 7 months now. She is full of energy and would love an active family. We do not have any young children, therefore I'm not certain but I feel she would do well with kids. Her favorite game is fetch; she will go for hours. She also loves a ride in the car. She has a cuddly side too. She is food motivated, eager to please, and learning her basics commands like sit, down, come, and stay. She enjoys exploring and is very much still learning about the world! She does good on a leash and is crate trained. She gets along well with our other dogs, but can be protective over her food (with dogs only). She has a great personality and we would love to have her as a permanent family member, but we just don't have the space:( Please message with any questions!
