This handsome boy is Reno, an Australian Kelpie mix that was brought in as a stray to the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 1/12. He weighs 36 pounds and is about 2 years old. Reno appears to have been nicely cared for. He knows the sit and paw commands (in fact he will give you both left and right paws). He is very sociable, friendly, affectionate, wants to climb into your lap and will give kisses. He is a charming, gentle, sweet, well-behaved boy who would doubtless make someone a wonderful companion. He does walk well on a leash. He played with several toys and balls in our meet and greet room. Reno is also quite the curious boy. In the yard, he had his nose to the ground and covered pretty much the entire area. He loves treats and takes them quite politely. He sincerely hopes that his stay at the shelter will be a short one and that a new person or family with step forward and adopt or foster and stay committed to him. Reno is a delightfully sweet, loveable and charming boy. He deserves to live as an inside dog spending time with his loving family.

Meet Gusty Smurf, who arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 11/7. He’s a 3-month-old, 11-pound bundle of puppy enthusiasm and excitement. He is friendly and is OK with being petted however, that’s not until after he has worked through some of that puppy energy! Since his entire life has been in a city shelter, it goes without saying that he will be starting from the beginning with training. His new family members we’ll need plenty of patience and commitment, allow for lots of playtime and exercise in order for them to be ready to fit in with their new person or family. but I have no doubt that all the effort and investment of time will result in devoted, loyal and cherished family members.

At just 3 months old and weighing 17 pounds, he’s possibly a mix of Aussie Kelpie and Dutch Shepherd, according to my Dog Scanner app. This happy-go-lucky boy is full of energy and fun, loves playing with toys, and enjoyed the treats I gave him. Having spent his whole life in the shelter, he’ll need someone patient to guide his behavior and channel his boundless puppy energy. He doesn’t yet know how to walk on a leash and tends to jump up, but with time, patience, and training, he’s sure to become a devoted and loving member of a family.

Here is what you should know about me: I am very loveable I love people and dogs of all sizes I am fascinated by horses Car rides are the best I was abandoned and starved, so food really excites me Bully sticks are my favorite I love playing fetch I want to be taken on walks but my finder/foster has too many dogs and no time to walk me. I don't need anything fancy, just patience, kindness and a family who has time for me. Mo is one year old and 59 lbs Kelpie mix who was found stray by a kind citizen. Months went by without an owner coming forward and now Mo is searching for a new family that can give him all the love and attention he deserves. She is a very sweet dog! We took her in temporarily for someone who was moving and was supposed to take her back once they were settled in, but turns out the place they moved too does not allow large dogs. She has a large kennel, toys, food and a dog bed that we will send with her to her new home! Great with our kids, but our schedules just don’t allow us to give her the attention she needs.

I rescued this dog injured in the center of a rural county road in December and he has been with me ever since. This soulful dog is available for a new home anytime! He is just such a mellow, happy, goofy guy and he deserves so much more time with humans that we can give. He would be great in an apartment with regular walks or a home with a yard. He was very good with pre-teen kids and decent on a leash. He has played well with dogs of all sizes. He is not very reactive and is pretty easy to redirect. He is a great dog for someone that wants a low maintenance pal to play with and then nap the other 20 hours a day. He is good on his own, no separation anxiety or destructive tendencies and he has shown minimal resource guarding and now that he is eating regular he is doing a good job of not overeating and will only eat when he is hungry. He does seem to want to chase the cats and so I would recommend a home with no cats or with young cats that can get away.

We received Daisy when she was 10 weeks old. She is 2 years old (born around January of 2024). Daisy is a very snuggly cuddly lap dog. She is not super adventerous, but does enjoy going on walks and laying out in the sun and in the grass. Her favorite things to do are laying on her bed or in your lap with lots of love and pets. She is very smart and listens well to commands like sitting, staying, or coming when called. She is very social and loves meeting new humans and dogs alike. She loves kids and babies, but does get so excited that she jumps up to kiss and greet everyone she meets, but there is not a mean bone in her body. She is a real sweetheart and would be perfect in a home that will show her lots of love and affection.
