This handsome boy is Reno, an Australian Kelpie mix that was brought in as a stray to the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 1/12. He weighs 36 pounds and is about 2 years old. Reno appears to have been nicely cared for. He knows the sit and paw commands (in fact he will give you both left and right paws). He is very sociable, friendly, affectionate, wants to climb into your lap and will give kisses. He is a charming, gentle, sweet, well-behaved boy who would doubtless make someone a wonderful companion. He does walk well on a leash. He played with several toys and balls in our meet and greet room. Reno is also quite the curious boy. In the yard, he had his nose to the ground and covered pretty much the entire area. He loves treats and takes them quite politely. He sincerely hopes that his stay at the shelter will be a short one and that a new person or family with step forward and adopt or foster and stay committed to him. Reno is a delightfully sweet, loveable and charming boy. He deserves to live as an inside dog spending time with his loving family.

Meet Lacy! She’s a two year old Aussie mix who is a small girl at just 25-ish pounds. Shes great with other dogs and children. She hasn’t met a cat yet, but we think she would be just fine given her calm nature. Lacy is heartworm positive but her treatment is included as part of her adoption fee. Meet Littlefoot! This little tripod is one of the sweetest pups you’ll ever meet. She was found as a stray along with her puppies in South Texas a few months ago. Since rescuing her, we have gotten her fully vetted which included amputating her front limb, as she was born with a deformity that was causing her some pain. She’s a little over a year old, good with dogs, but prefers a mellow companion. She’s extremely sweet with people and would like to be a cuddle partner for hours on end. She’s also potty trained and crate trained. She has not been cat tested so unfortunately, we do not know how she would do with kitties. Because Littlefoot was a "street dog" the first year of her life, new things can be scary at first. So we will require a patient leader that can teach her that the world is not a scary place. Our trainer will be happy to continue to work with her on confidence building once she enters into your home, as all of our pups come with 3 free at home sessions with one of our trainers. Meet Sundae &#194&#150 a 2 year old female Aussie/Catahoula mix that weighs approx. 56Lbs. Sundae is a sweet, sensitive girl who is ready for a fresh start. She can be shy at first and may startle easily in new environments, but with a little patience she quickly builds trust and becomes an affectionate love bug. Once she feels safe, Sundae absolutely adores belly rubs and will happily soak up all the pets and attention you can give. She walks nicely on a leash and has good leash manners, making her a wonderful companion for calm neighborhood strolls. Sundae would do best in a home with children 13 years and older or in an adult-only household where she can feel secure. She is not currently comfortable around other dogs, though the shelter environment may be contributing to that stress, so a meet and greet is required if another dog is in the home prior to adopting her. Her adoption fee is $125. She is spayed, microchipped, current on her rabies vaccine, basic boosters, and heartworm negative.
