Story
Meet Lance &#194&#151 a tiny guy with a big personality and a whole lifetime of adventures ahead! Lance is a young puppy (approximately 7 weeks old as of 01/17/26) who is now officially available for adoption and ready to start his journey with a committed, loving family. Based on his appearance, he is believed to be a Kelpie/Terrier mix, but as with all stray puppies, breed is only our best guess and cannot be guaranteed. Just like his future size, his exact breed makeup is a mystery, which means he could grow to be smaller, larger, or right in between &#194&#151 part of the fun of puppy parenthood is watching that surprise unfold. He's at that irresistible stage of life where everything is new, exciting, and occasionally something to chew on. He's playful, curious, and learning about the world one paw at a time. Lance's adoption fee is $125, which includes his neuter (to be completed at 12 weeks of age), microchip, first DAPPV booster, Bordetella booster, and first round of dewormer. He is required to return to Rockwall Adoption Center on Wednesday, 02/18/26 for his neuter and rabies vaccination. This appointment is non-negotiable and is required by Texas state law as part of the adoption contract. Apply to adopt Lance here: https://rockwalladoptions.com/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ A Very Important (and Honest) Puppy Disclaimer Puppies are adorable... and also tiny tornadoes with teeth. Adopting a young puppy means committing to potty training (yes, even at 2 a.m.), chewing (your shoes are officially on notice), training and socialization, structure, patience, and consistency, and teaching them how to grow into a confident, well-mannered adult dog. Lance will need time, dedication, positive training, and proper socialization to become the amazing companion he's meant to be. If you're ready for puppy classes, play sessions, structure, and lots of love (plus a few chewed toys along the way), Lance just might be your perfect match. If you're prepared for the responsibility&#194&#151and the joy&#194&#151of raising a puppy the right way, Lance is ready to meet his forever family.  All animals, unless otherwise noted in their description, are at 1825 Airport Rd. in Rockwall, TX. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 9 am to 6 pm and Saturdays 9 am to 5 pm. For questions, please call 972-771-7750 ext. 2 or email info@RockwallAdoptions.com. IMPORTANT NOTICE: All shelter animals are required by Texas state law to be spayed/neutered. RAC completes this procedure at the age of 12 weeks. If you are adopting a pet under the age of 12 weeks or an animal that has not yet been spayed or neutered, you will be required to return the pet to our facility on the agreed upon date set at the time of adoption. This policy is non-negotiable and violation of this health code is a criminal offense. January 17, 2026, 3:44 pm

t's me, Mo- the guy with the big blue eyes, spotted nose, and a tongue that sometimes forgets to stay in my mouth. I've been patiently waiting at my finders home, dreaming about the day I finally get my forever home.  Here is what you should know about me: I am very loveable I love people and dogs of all sizes I am fascinated by horses Car rides are the best I was abandoned and starved, so food really excites me Bully sticks are my favorite I love playing fetch I want to be taken on walks but my finder/foster has too many dogs and no time to walk me. I don't need anything fancy, just patience, kindness and a family who has time for me.  Mo is one year old and 59 lbs Kelpie mix who was found stray by a kind citizen. Months went by without an owner coming forward and now Mo is searching for a new family that can give him all the love and attention he deserves. He's house and crate trained and gets along great with other dogs and cats.  Mo is neutered, vaccinated, microchiped and heartworm negative. His adoption fee is $275. Please apply online and we'll be in touch: Adoption Application - Legacy Humane SocietyWe do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application. Story
Shadow 7-month-old • Female Bright, bouncy, and full of puppy joy — Shadow is a happy, high-energy girl who just wants to play and be close to her people. She’s friendly with strangers, eager to make new friends, and greets the world with enthusiasm and a wagging tail. Shadow has lots of playful energy and would thrive in a home that can give her time, attention, and fun outlets for that puppy spirit. She’s not aggressive at all, just young, excitable, and still learning the ropes. Because of her energy level, she may do best with older kids who can keep up with her playful style. This sweet girl is very people-oriented and forms strong bonds — she loves being near her humans and soaking up affection. With consistency, patience, and love, Shadow has all the potential to grow into an amazing companion. Looking for an active, affectionate pup to grow up with you? Shadow is ready for her fresh start.   Call or email AskRichardsonAnimalServices@cor.gov to learn more.January 21, 2026, 4:09 pm

Story
This handsome boy is Reno, an Australian Kelpie mix that was brought in as a stray to the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 1/12. He weighs 36 pounds and is about 2 years old. Reno appears to have been nicely cared for. He knows the sit and paw commands (in fact he will give you both left and right paws). He is very sociable, friendly, affectionate, wants to climb into your lap and will give kisses. He is a charming, gentle, sweet, well-behaved boy who would doubtless make someone a wonderful companion. He does walk well on a leash. He played with several toys and balls in our meet and greet room. Reno is also quite the curious boy. In the yard, he had his nose to the ground and covered pretty much the entire area. He loves treats and takes them quite politely. He sincerely hopes that his stay at the shelter will be a short one and that a new person or family with step forward and adopt or foster and stay committed to him. Reno is a delightfully sweet, loveable and charming boy. He deserves to live as an inside dog spending time with his loving family.

Story
Owner said Charlie has a mild temperament, but has the normal heeler energy! Charlie needs someone who can be gentle with him and reprimanding him, as he becomes ornery "when gotten onto". However, Charlie is said to be good with other dogs and house trained. We have been advised he has food aggression so he will need work if this becomes an issue at a new home.

Story
Owner surrender due to having too many animals and not enough space. Runs away from home but comes back. She digs and, when excited, jumps and barks uncontrollably. Food aggression with other animals, but not towards people. She is okay on leash. She has boundaries, doesn't like kennel being hit. Protective of family, loves attention. Would be better in a home without other animals. Good with cows.
