Story
Momma Donna is a Kelpie/Heeler mix girl that gave birth 3 months ago to 8 beautiful, wonderful Heeler puppies. This girl is 2 years old and only 42 pounds.  She is amazingly smart and seems to know exactly what you are saying to her.  We think that Momma Donna would be a perfect addition to a home with children who want to play and teach a dog some good tricks and manners.  She is willing to learn anything. Momma Donna is nicely housebroken and ready for a totally great and new life.  Momma Donna just needs a place to belong.   So, do you have a front porch and a hole in your heart ready to be filled by a loving and devoted dog who wants to walk down the road with you every day?   Please email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested in Momma Donna.  PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.April 23, 2024, 4:30 pm

Story
Female, 10 months old, 40lbs **This is a courtesy post for Say It Once Rescue League. Any applications received will be forwarded to the current foster and they will reach out to the applicants directly. RDR is not involved in the application process. Amor is currently located in Annapolis, MD.** Good with: Dogs Not tested with: Cats, Kids House trained: Mostly Energy level: Low Noise level: Some Hey there, I'm Amor, and I'm so excited to tell you all about myself! First things first, I absolutely adore walks. There's something so refreshing about getting out and exploring the world, sniffing all the scents along the way. Chew toys are another favorite of mine – there's nothing quite like a good chew session to relax and unwind. But what I love most of all is people. I'm a total cuddle bug and I thrive on affection. Food is another big motivator for me, so if you've got treats, count me in! Baths, on the other hand, not so much. I prefer to take things slow when I'm introduced to new environments, new pups, and new things. I might be a bit shy at first, but once I warm up, I'm a total sweetheart. In terms of training, I've got some basics down, but I could definitely benefit from some more focused training on house manners, confidence, and proper manners with other dogs. I'm a quick learner though, especially when there are treats involved! My energy level is on the low side, so I'm perfectly happy with a schedule that includes plenty of crate time and cuddle sessions. I get along well with other dogs, and while I haven't met any cats or kids yet, I'm open to making new friends. Overall, I'm a crate-trained, affectionate, and gentle pup who's just looking for a loving home to call my own. If you're in need of a cuddle buddy and a loyal companion, I think I might be the perfect match for you! My foster guardian says:  "Amor is a super sweet, intelligent, gentle, and lovable girl. She does well on leash, she’s comfortable in a crate, and knows some basic commands, which is impressive because she’s not even a year old yet! This girl has so much love to give and would be perfect for anyone looking to add a cuddle bug to their family!" Likes: Walks, chew toys, people, cuddles, food! Dislikes : Baths, prefers to take things slow with new environments and people My ideal home: Amor would do great in a home that will meet her affectionate needs with cuddles and pets. She’d do fine to have some exercise/activity, but would be content mostly hanging out at home too. Adoption Application : http://bit.ly/adoptrdr Foster Application :  https://rdr.formstack.com/forms/foster_app   My adoption fee includes: Spay/Neuter Surgery (unless I'm too to young!) Overall wellness exam Current on all core vaccines (including DHPP & rabies) Microchip Current on flea & tick and heartworm preventatives   Interested in adopting a rescue dog? Story
Elsa, a wiggly, vibrant, and loving Australian Kelpie/Husky mix, is approximately 1.5 years old, weighing about 37 pounds with striking coloring and mesmerizing bright blue eyes. She is a bundle of energy, adoring outdoor adventures and playtime, and is as sweet as sugar, readily showering everyone with her affectionate hugs. She is a total Velcro dog and wants to be by her person’s side at all times! We rescued her from a high kill shelter after she was brought in as a stray totally emaciated.  Despite her playful nature, she's learning to control her enthusiasm, particularly in the jumping department, but her irresistible hugs sometimes win out. She's a social butterfly, never meeting a stranger, and her friendly demeanor extends to other animals too. During a recent visit to get spayed, she interacted calmly with cats, sparking hope that she could coexist peacefully with feline companions. She hasn’t shown any prey drive. She plays well with other dogs, but must be fed separately (best in her crate) due to resource guarding as she has previously struggled to find food. She does not resource guard food, treats, or toys when humans tamper with them.  Elsa has seamlessly integrated into her foster home, showcasing her potty training prowess with only a couple of overnight accidents in her kennel. She's remarkably tidy, opting to cover her messes when possible, demonstrating both intelligence and a humorous side. Her foster parent marvels at her wonderful personality, describing her as 95% potty trained, a fast learner, and a quick bond-builder with humans. While she may engage in playful nipping occasionally, her overall demeanor is loving and delightful. However, due to this playful behavior, she would be better suited for a home with kids that are 10+ years old. She has also already been in a foster home with loud little kids and she was very visibly stressed.  She wouldn’t be suitable for apartment living, and needs a fenced yard. She really likes other dogs and being outside. She is very active to the point of almost hyper, so she needs a family that is also super active. Again, her future home must not have kids under 10 years of age.  In summary, Elsa is an incredible companion, embodying sweetness, humor, and beauty in one adorable package, making her a perfect addition for anyone looking for a loving and playful canine companion.  ***DISCLAIMER- Breed type is determined based on general appearance and behavioral characteristics and cannot be guaranteed unless DNA test results or AKC registration were provided at intake. ***MOST OF OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN TEXAS, BUT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION AND TRANSPORT OUT OF STATE. Story
Meet Cashew! Cashew is a nut of an Australian Shepherd, currently in Northern Virgina. At 16 months, he is pure teenager, and looking for a family that he can play with and learn how to be a gentleman. Cashew is rough and tumble, and very mischievous. He grew up with big and small dogs, as well as with cats and has definite preferences – and boy, does he let you know! Cashew is house trained and crate trained and is also, not destructive. He is an Aussie on steroids; LOVING, rambunctious, opinionated, and pushy. He gets along very well with my male Aussie who is a bit larger than he is, and usually ignores the cats. However, he does have significant prey drive and does need to be monitored with cats who run. Cashew is a lovely companion dog and likes nothing better than to hang with his people. He is a good office dog. He is absolutely not aggressive to people and enjoys both men and women. No stranger danger here! Cashew loves to play with our resident Aussie and plays hard. He would do well with another larger mellow, stable dog who is balanced in dominance/submissiveness. He is a NO on small dogs and has proven to be dog reactive and dog aggressive on walks. The reactivity is a training issue and any potential adopter would need to continue working on this, as he can re-direct (accidently) on his human. He is also reactive to trucks, but rapidly improving. We are walking him on a front lead harness which helps with control. When there are no distractions, he walks easily and paces with you. However, if a large truck comes rumbling by, he will lunge and bark. He is amenable to distractions and treats in this case. With dogs, not so much. He will lunge and bark until he can no longer see the dog. He calms then. If a dog comes running up to him, he will attack him. For this reason, I do not recommend him to a family with children. All children should be older (ie over 15). Cashew’s reactivity to dogs is his only negative trait. He is a Velcro dog with his person, but loves the entire family. When I leave the room, he follows. He loves to cuddle and can be demanding for attention. He will shower you with kisses and flop over so you can pet his belly. Cashew is high on the energy level. He is fine in the car and has no fear of thunderstorms. He is food motivated which makes training easier. He also wants to please, and he is SMART. Cashew is athletic and fun to watch – he is starting to love his toys, will retrieve and loves to wrestle with larger dogs that he knows. He does like to bound around. Cashew has recently been neutered and is a very healthy dog. He is up to date on vaccinations and preventatives. In summary, Cashew is a teenage Aussie who is people oriented. He will need an experienced Aussie owner who will train him in his reactivity and impulse control. He would love a certain sort of dog pal to work off his energy in play, but would also do well in the home as an only dog. If Cashew sounds perfect for you, please fill out our application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to his new family. All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts.
