Story
**Meet Dean — a Gentle, Shy Soul Looking for His Perfect Home (with Jackie!)** Dean is a very shy but incredibly sweet boy who just needs a little time and patience to show you his true heart. Once he bonds with you, he becomes your devoted shadow—quietly loyal, deeply affectionate, and happiest right by your side. Dean shares a special, unbreakable bond with his best friend Jackie, and the two of them must be adopted together. Their connection gives Dean confidence, comfort, and joy, and they truly thrive as a pair. Leash walks are one of Dean’s favorite things—he’s calm, easy to handle, and enjoys exploring the world at a gentle pace. However, he *can* jump a 4-foot fence, so he will need a secure yard with a taller fence or supervised outdoor time to keep him safe. Dean and Jackie are looking for a patient, loving home that will give them the time and reassurance they need to settle in. With understanding and consistency, Dean will blossom into the loyal, affectionate companion he’s meant to be. If you’re ready to open your heart to a sweet, sensitive boy and his best friend, Dean and Jackie are waiting to meet you.

Story
Smart and intelligent are the words to describe our lovely gal Lyra. She is an Australian Shepherd mix at around 5 months old and weighing around 26 pounds. Looking forward, she will have growing to do to reach her full-grown weight and our best guess is that she will be a large gal over somewhere over 60 pounds. Time will tell for sure, but we certainly do not need time to know this girl is a sweetheart. She comes into rescue from a hoarding situation and there have been many changes in her life. She is making great progress and learning to trust people; however, she may be shy in a new environment so slow introductions will be the key until she has time to adjust. Lyra does well with other dogs and children but has not been exposed to cats since coming into rescue. At this time, we do not know how she would react to a cat companion. She is learning her skill set of house, crate and leash training. She aims to please and is bright and enthusiastic. She will put in her best effort to learn her skills and make her family proud of her. Lyra has much to learn when it comes to living the good life. We know she will ease into it and then submerse herself in all the love and attention offered to her. She did not know what she was missing until now. She is more than ready to turn the page to the next chapter of her life. * When considering adoption, keep in mind that dogs thrive on structure and routine. They adjust much better when their owners are committed to providing consistency and stability. The adoption fee for Lyra is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours. To speed up the process, contact your vet and give them permission to speak with us.If you do not get a response within 24 hours, check your spam folder.April 9, 2026, 6:40 am

Story
Our boy Jarvis is ready to charm and charm he does. He has some beautiful markings that will turn heads for a second look. He comes into rescue as an owner surrender due to no fault of his own. He is committed to finding his ideal family to spend the rest of his days with. Jarvis is a 6-year-old Australian Shepherd, and he weighs around 30 pounds. He is on the small size, but he has a large capacity to love. Jarvis can mingle and hang around other dogs, children and adults. He is always willing to make friends. We do not know how he would be with a cat since he has not had the opportunity to meet a cat since coming into rescue. We do know he will do well with a family that is focused on regular exercise, continued training and lots of socialization. He has a medium energy level and will be a good match for a fairly active family. He is housetrained and currently working on his crate and leash training. With time and practice, Jarvis will be a champion in no time at all. It is important to remember that although Jarvis is housetrained, accidents can occur while adjusting to a new home environment. With changes in his life, Jarvis has his heart in the right place. He is ready to be a part of a family that will cherish and love him. He is not looking back because he will focus on moving forward and all the love that is in store for him.* When considering adoption, keep in mind that dogs thrive on structure and routine.
