Story
Courtesy Post: Owner Surrender/Rehoming- Ashland, OH Meet Atlas! He is a 5 year old Australian Shepherd and weighs between 35-40 lbs. He is neutered and up to date on shots, but isn’t on heartworm prevention. Atlas is nervous around strangers. He is great with kids and dogs! He hasn’t been tested around cats. Atlas bit the owner’s mother and sister when they tried to grab the owner’s kids. The owner is surrendering him because he isn’t receiving the attention and training that he needs. He needs to find a new furever home as soon as possible! If you think you can provide a great home for Atlas, please contact the owner listed below. There is a $150 rehoming fee to assure good folks with good intentions. This fee will be donated to Australian Shepherds Furever for their assistance in placing Atlas. Owner’s Contact Information: Chris Rolfe at (419) 606-8864 or erinnicole446@gmail.com.

Story
In Bidwell, Ohio - Bailey Mae will steal your heart! Bailey is a petite, 40ish lb Aussie cattle dog mix and is about 15 months old. Bailey came from a local shelter where we were told she was picked up as a stray by a kind elderly couple. Bailey is fun, sweet, cuddly, and so athletic! She has quickly become best friends with her fur brother Australian shepherd Cattle dog mix. She has been known to herd him a little around the house, but never aggressively and it hasn’t been a problem. She has become fast friends with any medium or large-sized dogs she has met that have visited her foster home. Bailey Mae loves her 2 and 4 year old human siblings and has been WONDERFUL with them (even when the 2 year old is a little too rough with her). She shows no signs of aggression, nipping, or herding. She has also been around many visiting cousins ages 6-10 and been equally gentle with them. She loves all people she meets regardless of gender or size and is very friendly to all. Bailey Mae is crate trained and sleeps happily through the night in her crate without a peep, patiently waiting to be let out in the morning. She doesn’t love being left in the crate when her humans need to leave during the day, but she will go in with a treat. She is almost completely housebroken. She has gotten to the point where if she gets outside regularly in a good routine, she is pretty unlikely to have an accident. She needs a little more time, patience, and consistency to be 100% on this. She is not food aggressive at all, but is definitely food obsessed. If food is left unattended on the counter or table, she will find it! Can you blame her after being a hungry stray? She is an incredible jumper and is SO fast. She adores a game of fetch with a tennis ball and will wow you with her abilities to catch the ball. She is equally happy after a fun game of fetch to curl up on the couch and rest with you. Bailey shows a very high prey drive with small animals. Her current yard is too large to be fenced (farm setting) and she is showing instincts to chase after a neighboring outdoor cat and small dog. She has never injured them, but her foster family feels that she might if given the opportunity. For the safety of Bailey and the small animals, her ideal home would have no cats or small-sized dogs and a secure (preferably privacy) fence. She has also done well with cattle, showing no interest in chasing adults or calves and making no attempts to cross under the electric fence. (An unfenced yard in a rural setting with no small pets or livestock would be considered.) Bailey needs room to run and play safely. She would enjoy a friendly, similarly sized dog to play with or she could be the only dog and get all of the playtime with her humans. Bailey will warm your heart, cuddle you, love your children, and make an excellent family pet if given the chance! Bailey Mae is spayed, UTD on her vaccines, microchipped and on HW and flea prevention. All adoption fees go to help other pups like Bailey Mae. There will be a $20 fee to transfer her microchip. Bailey Mae is being fostered in Bidwell, OH. If Bailey Mae sounds perfect for your family, please fill out the application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts.

Story
Please contact melissa (melissa@pawsandprayers.org) for more information about this pet.  Meet Harry! He is about 1-1/2 years old, weighs almost 40 pounds, and is an Aussie mix. Harry is friendly, energetic, and bouncy.  He gets along with other dogs and his human friends. Harry enjoys playtime with his younger dog friends, but has been around older dogs also. He has done well with the kids he has met at events. He has not met cats.  Harry is crate trained.  He will greatly benefit from training to work on his leash manners and would do well with an active family.  Harry is an active guy and would go great with an active adopter that enjoys walking or running. His adoption fee includes age-appropriate vaccines, microchip, and neuter. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an adoption application today at our website  www.pawsandprayers.org. Harry's adoption fee is $250.    ***The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an adoption application today at our website www.pawsandprayers.org. Story
Wagga Wagga, named for a city in Australia is a sweet Australian Shepherd puppy. The Pups were born January 1, 2024. They are sweet, smart, have all their first shots (distemper/parvo/lepto, Bordetella, one year rabies) been microchipped, and are on heartworm/flea meds and are wormed. Wagga is the most unusual of the group. His left eye has a beautiful blue circle surrounding it. To adopt this beautiful puppy, please do our non-obligatory application at www.pawsandprayers.org and we will see if it is a good fit for you and the pup. Any questions, email marty@pawsandprayers.org . Thinking about a new puppy….. things to keep in mind: Puppy will need time, training, love and connection, mixed in with a load of attention. Best if children are school age or older; we will consider younger children only on exception basis. Puppies have small bladders and need to have someone to let them out regularly for potty breaks…..work from home, work part-time, come home at lunch…..need a plan as they will need you every 4 to 5 hours until they are at least 6 to 8 months old. Will your current pet be willing to accept a new puppy. Puppies can be a handful. Will you be traveling extensively for the next couple of months? Puppy proofing your home is like baby proofing you home; it requires effort. Puppies can go to their new homes from 8 weeks, but holding on a little longer and letting them go around 12 weeks can be really beneficial, as their development and socializing will be a lot more established by that point. Those few extra weeks can make a big difference in how they act in their new home….. more social, less nippy. The adoption fee is $400. April 23, 2024, 6:10 am
