Please check below to see what upcoming adoption events I will be attending or apply here for a private meeting. If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** To meet Amy, fill out a bulldog application! https://underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/bulldogs/ DOB: 09/01/2014 Requires another dog in home: No Okay with dogs of all sizes: No Okay with cats: Dog savvy cats Okay with children under 12 years old: Yes Weight: 53 pounds Requires a fenced yard: No Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area. Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Hi – my name is Amy and I am the bestest girl who cannot wait to have a home and a family of my own. I am told I am very sweet and do love to snuggle my people – even better on the couch! My hobbies include cuddling and snoozing near my people. I have a favorite spot on the couch and have perfected the skill of getting comfy. I do like to go for walks, but hey, I am a pretty bulldog girl and marathons are not my thing (once around the block will do!). I have great leash manners, but beware I can pull when I get excited and am a very strong girl! I also get super excited to sniff at other dogs I see and may just bark (and I have a loud one!) to let them know. I do great at the dog park and am learning how to play with the other dogs. When we visit the neighborhood brewery, I am a very good girl and let my people know when I need to “tap” out and get back to my comfy spot on the couch. While I get along with most dogs, sometimes I need a slow introduction, so being an only dog and the center of attention would be fine with me. I would actually prefer being an only dog so I can get all the attention I deserve! I have lived with other dogs my whole life, but recently am getting crabbier with them. I am completely housetrained and earned more than one compliment on how good I am at waiting to go outside (I can wait all day!). And when I need to, I will just go the door and let you know (remember that bark of mine? You can’t miss me!). I do like being out in the yard - the kids in my foster home like to play fetch with me - I am amazing! We are also learning how to run through the sprinkler, but my short legs impede me from jumping so I prefer to just play with water from the hose. Like all bullies, I am a good eater and my forever family will have to keep an eye on my diet so I stay at a healthy weight and avoid typical skin, ear and eye issues. In true bulldog form, I have some allergies and currently have a spot on my neck that can be itchy. I’m on a raw food and kibble diet and cytopoint injections have really helped and I am improving. My allergy treatments will probably need to continue and I would love to continue a raw diet to avoid skin issues. My ideal forever home would have experience with dogs that have allergies and/or bulldog experience. I do bark when left home alone or put in a crate – so it would be great if my people could be home a lot and if I lived somewhere without shared walls. Since I am an “in and out” kinda girl, a fence is great, but going out on a leash works too. I like treats and LOVE chewing on bones – hopefully my forever home has some tasty bones for me – hint hint. Oh, and beware, on occasion I have been know to do some drooling, but a few good wipes of my pretty face and I am good to go! My foster family says that I am the most snuggly and sweet girl and are excited for me to find my forever family. I can’t wait to meet you! *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home. Bulldogs are a member of the Brachycephalic breed and therefore have a host of health issues that may arise. Because these dogs are new into our rescue, health issues in the future may arise that we are not aware of. Some of these issues are allergies, eye issues, yeast infections, interdigital cysts, slipped disks in their back, breathing problems, among a host of others that can occur at any time or when seasons change. While breed experience is not required, we encourage you to thoroughly research the breed and its financial, medical, and environmental needs to be sure the breed is a good fit for you and your family. It is estimated that the average bulldog owner spends $2,000 per year on medical needs. Bulldogs are one of the most expensive dogs to own, maintain, and rescue and our adoption fees reflect such expenses. The application process for bulldogs usually moves quite quickly as they are a popular breed, so we ask that adopters do research and be prepared for adoption at the time you submit your application. They are happy, goofy, playful characters and we are excited you are taking the first steps into rescuing one! This dog requires an application fee. This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void. We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion. Bulldog Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee. Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the bulldog. Our goal is place bulldogs in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the bulldog, we will not approve your application. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. ADOPTION EVENTS: Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/ Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN. All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog.
