Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Opal is a gentle, affectionate English Bulldog with a heart full of love and a personality that melts everyone she meets. At home, she’s the ultimate cuddle companion—always ready for pets and snuggles, especially if it involves relaxing on the couch under a cozy blanket. When she’s comfortable, Opal is happy to settle in and relax, but she also enjoys following her people around the house like a loyal little shadow. One of her favorite moves is flopping onto the floor and rolling over the moment someone walks by, politely requesting belly rubs. Opal’s sweet and goofy nature shines through in everything she does. She has a charming little wobbly walk that makes her presence known wherever she goes, and it only adds to her lovable character. Outside the home, Opal is curious about the world around her and enjoys taking her time to sniff and explore new sights and smells. Meeting new people is one of Opal’s favorite activities. She greets strangers with a friendly demeanor and will often sit nicely in front of them, patiently waiting for the pets and attention she hopes will follow. Her calm, even-tempered personality makes her a wonderful companion for anyone looking for a gentle, affectionate dog. Opal is potty trained and reliably goes outside. She is crate trained and does well resting in her crate when needed. She is currently working on her leash skills and is making good progress—she should do just fine going out on leash for potty breaks and short walks. Opal already knows basic commands like “sit” and “wait,” showing she’s eager to learn and please. Opal is a senior girl with some arthritis, so she takes life at a slower pace and has a bit of a wobbly walk. She may need a helping hand with stairs, so her future family should be comfortable lifting her when needed. With her loving personality, goofy charm, and devotion to cuddles, Opal is a wonderful lap dog who is happiest simply being close to her people. She’s the perfect companion for someone looking for a sweet, gentle bulldog who will happily trade endless love for belly rubs. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.  Bulldogs, pugs, and Boston terriers, Brussels Griffons, Pekingese and others are a member of the Brachycephalic breed and therefore have a host of health issues that may arise.  Because these dogs are new into our rescue, health issues in the future may arise that we are not aware of.  Some of these issues are allergies, eye issues, yeast infections, interdigital cysts, slipped disks in their back, breathing problems, among a host of others that can occur at any time or when seasons change. While breed experience is not required, we encourage you to thoroughly research the breed and its financial, medical, and environmental needs to be sure this breed is a good fit for you and your family.  It is estimated that the average brachycephalic breed owner spends $2,000 per year on medical needs. In addition to other surgeries, this dog may have had surgery on their nares and soft palate to improve the quality of their breathing.  This will be partially reflected within her adoption fee. These breeds are one of the most expensive dogs to own, maintain, and rescue and our adoption fees reflect such expenses.  The application process for these breeds usually moves quite quickly as they are a popular breed, so we ask that adopters do research and be prepared for adoption at the time you submit your application.  They are happy, goofy, playful characters and we are excited you are taking the first steps into rescuing one!   This dog requires a separate application and an application fee.  This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.    We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion. This dog requires a Bulldog Application.  All applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the bulldog. Our goal is place bulldogs in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the bulldog, we will not approve your application. Josiah is a loving, goofy, stubborn guy who is happiest when he’s hanging out with his people—or taking a well-earned nap! He absolutely loves people and will happily soak up all the attention you’re willing to give. When he really wants your attention, he makes the most adorable Chewbacca-like sounds. Fair warning: when Josiah gets excited, he can be enthusiastic enough to knock a grown man over! Josiah is potty trained and does well in his kennel. He walks nicely on a leash when heading out for potty breaks and exercise. He’s also a champion road-trip companion and seems perfectly content cruising along with his people. He’s working on commands and hand signals, although, true to his stubborn personality, he sometimes feels that following directions is more of a suggestion than a requirement. He loves bones, keeping an eye on the neighborhood, and generally being his family’s personal security guard. He’s a big, lovable goofball with a lazy side and a strong protective streak. Because Josiah is deaf, his family will need to communicate with him through hand signals and other visual cues. He is smart and capable, but consistency and patience will be important. Josiah does have some specific needs that his future family will need to understand and be prepared to manage. He is protective of his people and his kennel and does not do well with other dogs entering what he considers his territory. He can also become growly and snappy around other dogs or people when high-value treats are involved. For this reason, careful management, appropriate boundaries, and continued training will be important. Josiah also has significant medical needs. He has allergies and has had a portion of his small intestine removed, so he requires a very specific diet. He takes daily supplements with his food and needs daily wipe-downs to help manage his allergies. He has completed treatment for heartworm disease and will need monthly heartworm prevention year-round for the rest of his life. Despite all of that, Josiah has so much love to give. He’s a funny, affectionate, loyal companion who loves his people, loves his naps, and has plenty of personality packed into one goofy package. Josiah is looking for a family who will appreciate his quirks, respect his boundaries, stay on top of his medical care, and give him the structure and patience he deserves. In return, he’ll give you a devoted companion, a neighborhood watchman, and a road-trip buddy who will make you laugh every day. ❤️ Note that this dog has been treated for heartworm  and will need monthly heartworm preventatives year round for life. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Stinkbug is a fun-loving Bulldog mix with a big personality and an even bigger heart. True to his name, this goofy guy brings plenty of laughs wherever he goes. He’s an outgoing, friendly dog who enjoys meeting new people and making friends wherever he can. Stinkbug has a playful, energetic side and absolutely loves spending time with other dogs. He can get a little rowdy during playtime, but he’s respectful with confident dogs who enjoy a good wrestle and chase. While he finds cats very interesting and may chase them, it’s out of curiosity rather than aggression—he’s already improving with guidance, but his enthusiasm can still be a bit much for most feline friends. He’s wonderful with kids, but like any happy bulldog mix, he can be a bit of a “bull in a china shop” and may accidentally knock over the tiniest humans. This happy pup enjoys staying active and does great on walks. He walks nicely on a leash and would love a family that enjoys getting outside for daily strolls and adventures. After some playtime or exercise, Stinkbug is just as happy to settle down for cuddles and relax with his people. Stinkbug is very food motivated and eager to please, which has made training a positive experience. He already knows commands like “sit” and “come,” and he takes direction well. With continued consistency, he’s likely to pick up even more skills quickly—he’s a smart boy who learns fast. He’s almost fully potty trained when kept on a good routine and continues to improve every day. When it comes to toys, Stinkbug has clear favorites—chew toys and plush toys that he can proudly carry around or tear apart during playtime. He also enjoys car rides and handles new experiences with an easygoing attitude. Stinkbug does great in his crate and settles in comfortably when needed. He’s an affectionate, playful, and even-tempered dog who enjoys being part of the action but also loves spending quality time with his people. Overall, Stinkbug is a lovable, goofy companion who would fit well with an active family that enjoys both playtime and cuddle time. With his friendly nature, eagerness to learn, and joyful personality, he’s ready to bring lots of fun and love to his forever home.
Story
Please note that this dog is currently located in TX and will be transported once adopted. Our application can be found at haydudeequine.org. Meet Duke! There's a new star in town, and this one has four legs! Meet Duke, a handsome 10-month-old, 45-pound Bulldog/Staffordshire Terrier mix (our best guess) who is ready to find his forever family. Duke is a happy, playful, people-loving pup who thinks everyone he meets is a potential best friend. He's wonderful with other dogs and loves having a canine buddy to play with. His favorite game? FETCH! He'll happily chase a toy, bring it back, and do it all over again. And if there's water involved? Even better! Duke absolutely loves the water, so a family who enjoys outdoor adventures, swimming, or just watching a goofy dog have the time of his life would be right up his alley. At 10 months old, Duke still has plenty of puppy fun in him, but he's also incredibly sweet and eager to be part of a family. He's looking for a home where he can get plenty of love, playtime, and adventures—and maybe a comfy couch for those post-fetch naps. If you're looking for a fun-loving, water-loving, dog-friendly goofball to add some excitement (and a whole lot of love) to your life, Duke might just be your guy! Apply to adopt Duke at haydudeequine.org!

Story
Venus was rescued back in October of 2025. Her first week in rescue was 24/7 hospital care on IV liquids, antibiotics, and pain medicine. Her diagnosis included several broken ribs (likely from humans kicking her). We have a strong inkling that Venus somehow escaped from the life of a bait dog for dog fighting which sadly is commonplace in our state. She was very thin, every bone in her body was protruding and she had very infected abscesses all over her body from bite wounds. She had heartworms and has completed the full treatment. She has made a complete recovery and is ready to be a part of a family, something she has never had before! She does not get along with other dogs. Cats aren’t her thing either, but she makes up for it with loyalty, affection, and the sweetest temperament. Venus is ready to brighten someone’s world. Could it be yours? She is currently being fostered in Mississippi but included in your adoption fee is transport to a location near you by Rescue Riders Pet Transport, the most animal friendly transport on the road! Please message us if you are interested in adopting this little girl and we will send you an adoption application! We look forward to talking with you! Venus is still hoping for a family to love her. She is being fostered in Mississippi but included in your adoption fee is transport to you by Rescue Riders Pet Transport which is the most animal friendly transport on the road!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Meet Scooter, a quirky, snuggly little goofball with a big personality and an even bigger heart! This French Bulldog mix is full of love, energy, and opinions. At about 30 pounds, he's the perfect size for lap cuddles—which just happen to be one of his favorite things in the world. Belly rubs? Yes, please. Ice cubes? Delicious. Chasing the hose? Pure joy. He’s got a playful streak a mile wide and adores games like tug-of-war, keep-away, and wrestling with trusted dog friends. But let’s be real—Scooter is not your average, easygoing pup. He’s had a rough go somewhere along the line, and he’s working hard to feel safe in the world. He has a few non-negotiables: he needs time to build trust, doesn’t like chaos, and absolutely does not want anyone messing with his ears unless you're in the inner circle. Men make him nervous, and he's not a fan of being left alone too long. Scooter is also very food-motivated—which can be both a training superpower and a trigger for resource guarding, especially around other dogs.  Scooter does best being fed in a separate area, if dogs reside in the home.  He is also picky with his canine friends.  He has been fine with more mellow dogs.  Bouncy puppy energy is something he would prefer to avoid.   Scooter can and will lunge or bite if he feels overwhelmed or scared. He’s made huge progress in foster care, but he needs a calm, confident human who will continue that journey with patience, structure, and maybe even a good trainer in their corner. He’s not crate-trained (he finds crates stressful), and he’s not suited for homes with kids or lots of commotion. A fenced yard is a must—he needs space to run and decompress. Here’s the flip side: once you’re “his person,” Scooter will love you with his whole goofy heart. He’s affectionate, loyal, and eager to please. He’s smart and knows commands like sit, down, leave it, and “go potty.” He’s house-trained and walks well on leash. He loves toys, attention, and being part of the action—as long as it’s not too much action. Scooter isn’t for everyone, but if you’re someone who sees the beauty in helping a misunderstood dog bloom, Scooter might be your perfect project-turned-best-friend. He’ll make you laugh, keep you company, and love you fiercely. And that, friends, is a pretty special kind of magic. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Cardi is a happy-go-lucky French Bulldog with a heart full of love and a personality that will keep you smiling. This sweet girl adores people and is happiest when she’s spending time with her family, whether that’s lounging by your side on the couch or soaking up all the scratches and attention she can get.  When she was rescued, she had a cyst on a small eye ball in her left eye socket. That has since been removed and she is feeling great! While some may think that being one eyed can slow a girl down, that is not the case for Miss Cardi Cardi hot tamale! Cardi is the perfect blend of playful and relaxed. Most of the time, she’s content to curl up nearby and snooze, but every now and then she’ll break into a hilarious burst of zoomies complete with adorable Frenchie snorts that are guaranteed to make you laugh. When left home alone, Cardi is trustworthy enough to remain uncrated and is perfectly happy spending her time napping on the couch until her people return.  This affectionate girl is an expert cuddler who absolutely melts into a puddle when you find the right spot for scratches. She loves stuffed animals, enjoys chewing on bully sticks, and considers ground beef one of life’s greatest treasures. Cardi is incredibly gentle and sweet with people of all ages, including children. Even when she’s feeling a little sassy, she remains careful and kind. Her loving nature, eagerness to please, and obedient personality make her a wonderful companion. While Cardi was rescued with another dog and was reportedly friendly with dogs in her previous home, in our experience, she has told us she much prefers to be the queen of the house and be the only pet.  She gets very interested in deer and squirrels while out on walks, so we presume feline friends would be too intriguing for her and she'd do best in a home without. If you’re looking for a goofy, affectionate best friend who loves to cuddle, make you laugh, and be part of the family, Cardi may be the perfect match. This sweet little Frenchie is ready to find a home where she can share her endless love, silly personality, and championship-level snuggling skills. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Bernard is a wonderfully sweet and expressive Shar-Pei x Pug who has finally learned how to be a dog, and he’s loving every minute of it. This big softie is incredibly affectionate — if you let him, he’ll gently kiss your face like it’s his life mission. He loves greeting his person with pure joy, sometimes so excited he forgets about going outside and instead insists on getting all his welcome-home pets first. Thanks to Embark, we did a DNA test to confirm her is 89% Shar Pei and 11% pug! He’s a happy, goofy boy who can match your energy perfectly. If you’re excited, he’s excited; if you’re calm, he’ll flop down and relax beside you — ideally in his chair, which he has very proudly claimed. He gets along great with cats and lets them do their thing, and he’s also made excellent progress with the other dogs in the home. He’ll even share gentle licks with them. Bernard listens well when treats are involved and knows how to sit, but recall is not his strong suit — especially around small critters. Given the chance, he will bolt, and the squirrels of the world definitely get a bark or two. He walks decently on leash but needs secure handling and careful door-watching. He’s still learning how to tell his person when he needs to go outside, so monitoring his water intake is important. While he has never pooped inside, he may pee if he drinks too much too quickly without a trip out. He also has a love for paper — any paper — and will happily snack on whatever he can reach, including toilet paper. Outdoors he enjoys eating grass and plants, so supervision is a must. Bernard enjoys soft toys and doesn’t destroy them. He loves chews too, but once they get narrow he’ll snap them and swallow the pieces, so those need supervision. You can absolutely be silly and playful with him — he thrives on that goofy connection. He may bark sometimes when left home alone, and while he’ll occasionally sleep with the rest of the household, he still gets a bit nervous around one of the other Shar-Pei. Even so, they’ve made great progress together. Bernard is a genuinely great dog — affectionate, silly, eager to bond, and full of personality. If his foster could keep another animal, he’d never be leaving. He’s more than ready to love someone wholeheartedly and make coming home the best part of your day.
