Story
This boy was dumped off at an auction place by his owners. Apparently their new landlord wouldn’t let him stay and that was their solution. He waited for them but was caught by a volunteer's house and brought in. He is a sweet, sweet boy who was definitely cared for. We’re positive he is housetrained and does well on a leash. He does well around other dogs his size, have not put him with smaller dogs. We aren’t sure about cats but know he can learn those manners. He loves to be around people, does well with kids and would love to go on any adventure with his new family. He would do best in a yard to get some energy out but it doesn't have to be too big…. just something he can walk around in but extra walks or dog park would do best for him. He is just a big lover who was let down by one family and is hoping for a second chance with a new one. Hank is being fostered in TN at this time but no worries because we use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport. They transport every weekend alternating between the Northeast and the Midwest.

Story
This girl was found at an auto shop, hence her name. She is very friendly and playful. She is around other dogs her age and does well. She likes to be in charge so she would do best in a home with calmer, submissive dogs. She will need puppy training as we aren’t sure if she has had any. She likes toys and loves to show them off to people! She is good around kids but is excitable so will need to learn how to be around little ones. She is learning how to be on a leash and does okay in a kennel. She’s just an active girl who needs an active family to keep her busy. She is just looking for fun times and a family to share them with her. She is being fostered in TN but we do transport using the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport. We transport every weekend alternating between the Northeast and the Midwest.

Story
This gal and 3 others were surrendered due to her owner not taking care of them properly. Rainey is the sweetest lady, although the shyest when meeting new people. Once she knows you, she is just wonderful. She loves to play and just have a fun time. She does learn, when she wants to pay attention. She would do great in a home with some yard, doesn’t have to be huge, just something she can get out to. She likes other dogs but hasn’t been around any smaller dogs. She would need to learn manners with cats as we don't’ think the household had any. She would do well on long walks, or a dog park for her to get her legs stretched out. She does well with kids so any family would suit her. She is just a wonderful girl who is looking for a new family to have fun with. Rainey is being fostered in TN but not to worry because we use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport. They transport every weekend alternating between the Midwest and the Northeast.

Vanilla, her mother Virginia and her two siblings, Vince, and Victor are in a shelter that is overfull and will need to make space shortly. ALL OF THEM ARE ON THE URGENT LIST! The poor momma was a stray that no one would help. She finally wandered up to an empty house to have her babies and thankfully someone called trying to find help for her. This little girl is the shy one in her litter, but she is a real charmer. She adores people and will even miss out on playtime for lover dog time. She will whine and bark for your attention and when you sit down with her, she will crawl in your lap - tail going a mile a minute and little butt jiggling. Puppy kisses alert! She is smart and is a quick learner. Coming along great on leash walking and potty training. She plays well with other dogs but runs away if they get too rough. She also seems good with kids but will need to be taught manners like all other puppies. Vanilla is currently in TN but the transport to your area is included in your fee. We use Rescue Riders Pet Transport, the most animal-friendly transport on the road.

The poor momma was a stray that no one would help. She finally wandered up to an empty house to have her babies and thankfully someone called trying to find help for her. Victor is the scaredy cat of the litter. He feels much happier and more comfortable when people are around him and looks for you when he is out in the play yard. He was interested in the squeaky toys but not as much as he was in getting cuddles. When he is with you, he is super sweet and very energetic, running all over and wiggle butts going constantly. He is good with other dogs but doesn't like to be in the middle of a big pack. One dog, or an older buddy would probably suit him best. He is a bit of a jumper so he would need a bit taller fence, or you will find him searching for you! Victor is currently in TN but the transport to your area is included in your fee. Virginia was dumped out pregnant and despite going up to several homes and people, no one tried to help. She eventually wandered up to an empty house to have her three babies and thankfully someone took pity and reach out to get her help. Now she and her puppies, Vince, Victor & Vanilla are in a shelter that is overfull and will need to make space shortly. ALL OF THEM ARE ON THE URGENT LIST! This girl is going to make someone a fabulous companion! She walks very well on a leash, is potty-trained, and is active but not hyper. Virginia LOVES to go for car rides, especially if there's a burger and a pup-cup involved. And when she went on an outing, she was the perfect lady when walking around the store- she was polite, greeted everyone, picked out a chew toy and treats. She also LOVES to play with her tennis ball or squeaky ball!! No stuffy toys for this girl, unless you want a snowstorm of fluff inside your house 🙂 She loves to be with her person but is content to play by herself too. Virginia does not love other dogs and we recommend she be an only-pet home. She has done well with kids and loves everyone she meets. She will need some work with leash walking as she is a strong puller. She does not jump, nor does she guard her food or toys. She takes a treat ever-so-gently and is just an overall "Good Girl!!" Virginia is looking for a pet-free family to include her on their adventures and show her all the love this mama dog deserves!! This girl is an absolute LOVE and deserves the best home ever! If it is yours, click on the big, black button to inquire about Virginia. Victor is currently in TN but the transport to your area is included in your fee. We use Rescue Riders Pet Transport, the most animal-friendly transport on the road.

Story
Meet Rosie- bestest girl with loving eyes! This girl is hysterical!  Rosie is loving, funny, curious, sweet, calm, playful and the best!  She is shy when first meeting you- most likely will army crawl over but she quickly becomes your buddy.  Rosie is good with other dogs- she will follow them around and enjoys playing.  Rosie loves chewing on chew bones and split elk antlers- she needs plenty of chew toys.  Her house manners are pretty good- she is crate and potty trained and is learning that 1) we do not counter surf and 2) she is too short to counter surf!!  Like I said- she is a hoot. We believe Rosie is a mix of Boston and French Bulldog with cut ears to make her look like something else (ugh).  She was bred then thrown away left to wonder the streets.  She does scare easily with loud noises and sudden movements which send her scurrying to her dog bed or crate.  She recovers quickly and is back by you asking for love!  Rosie really loves her people and to snuggle and get pets! Rosie will do best in a calm home.  She will need a fenced yard for she has not learned to walk well on leash yet- she will be able to with patience and time. If you are looking for a funny, loving companion - Rosie is your girl- snaggle teeth and all! If you would like to meet Rosie, please visit spotslaststop and fill out an application.

Story
Gordon is healthy and happy. She is 5 years old, and we got her from a breeder. She is a really smart, friendly, and happy dog. She is healthy, and crate-trained, and loves to cuddle and go on walks. We have had Gordon since she was a puppy (1 year), and things have been great. But we recently had a newborn baby, who has now started to crawl. Obviously, the baby doesn't know how to behave around the dog, so this is not a great situation. Gordon is a little reactive in the sense that if something gets in her face when she is tired, she can get angry and may attempt to bite/growl. We therefore would like to re-home Gordon. She is in all respects a really nice/loving/happy dog, but just has certain limits that need to be respected. Would be great for a home without small children.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.      Hello, my name is Cornelia. I am a very affectionate and smart young adult female French Bulldog/Beagle mix who loves to follow my family everywhere and be as close to them as I can. Since I’d rather spend time with my people, toys have yet to pique my interest, but I enjoy going on leashed walks, exploring my surroundings, watching the squirrels, and I really loves me some treats! In fact, I’m very food motivated and get so excited when I know treats are involved that I start jumping for joy! My family is trying to help me learn that remaining calm while awaiting treats is not only good etiquette but quite frankly, more lady-like. All I have to say about that is…I will try! Hee, hee!! I have not met any cats, but I love to play with other dogs. I don’t have a lot of experience with kids, but I have been good with the few I’ve met thus far. I do not like being left alone and will bark if I am, so hopefully my family will be home with me most of the time.  I am still working on potty training and I’m pretty vocal when first put in that cave you humans call a “kennel/crate”, but I do know what “sit” means. A forever home without shared walls would be ideal - bark bark! I am a super sweet girl with a friendly disposition who is simply looking for my fur-ever home with a patient, unconditionally loving family that will NEVER give up on me! If you’ll be my new family, I promise to love you with every ounce of my being, and we will have the most amazing life together. Love Cornelia *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared.  Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption.  This will be at the adopters expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses .   Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue.   Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in th eir forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a    particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.     ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hello! My name is Winston Churchill, and what I crave most in life is love, affection and safety…my biggest dream is to be YOUR fur-ever companion! I’m a total love bug if I do say so myself! My foster family also says that I’m very handsome (TOTALLY TRUE) with a loving and playful personality…also true! Most of the time I’m just a mellow guy who’s happiest when nestling into my people or lounging in a round comfy bed or couch (preferably by my humans of course!). In addition to cuddling, I enjoy stuffy toys (the sturdy kind!), squeaker balls, and I also love chewing on Nylabones. Toys & bones aside, if you REALLY want to know the way to my heart bring on the belly rubs, head scratches, food (did I mention I LOVE breakfast?!), and treats! In fact, if treats are involved, I will undoubtedly master any trick or skill! Speaking of…I’ve now learned to “sit”, “touch”, “stay” and “leave it”…that last one being important as sometimes I think my poop looks like a snack! Hee, hee!! Don’t judge! Anyway, I sleep like an angel at night in my crate with my people nearby, but I don’t like being left alone and will bark, bark, and bark some more if I am left in that thing with no one around…I mean seriously is wherever you’re going SO important that you can’t take me with you!?! I just love my people so much, and I feel anxious when they leave. But, my foster fam is starting to trust me being outside of the crate for short test-runs. They told me they can see everything on the doggy camera, so I’ve been on my best behavior and just look out the window quietly waiting for them to return! With that said, it would be good if you’re home with me lots and that my forever home didn’t have shared walls. Moving right along, I have not met any cats, but I think I’d be ok with them if they keep to themselves LOL; I don’t like a lot of commotion and I’m working on building up my confidence, so I think a household without kids would be best for me. However, I have met lots of dog friends now and LOVE playing with my two resident dog sibs! I also love leisurely walks at the park (although when we walk near our house, I don’t understand why we walk AWAY from all the good things already at home!). I am potty trained on a schedule, and a fenced-in backyard would be a great option for me (as I don’t always do my “business” on walks…too many cool things to see and smell!). I’m still learning to trust people who aren’t MY people (if you know what I mean!). So when we venture out to new environments, I put on my shy-guy face. And when friends and family come to visit the house, it takes a while for me to warm up to them. But foster mom is working on showing me that the big world isn’t so scary! In fact, I love to hang out at Bachman’s and dog-friendly breweries…I’m a quietly “watch and observe” type of guy right now – but when it comes to treats… I’ll GLADLY take those from anyone!! In the end, I am an angel of a boy who is simply looking for YOU…a patient, unconditionally loving fur-ever family that will NEVER give up on me. Will you please be my heart? I promise I will love you more than you could EVER imagine! ALL my love, Winston Churchill *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home. Bulldogs are a member of the Brachycephalic breed and therefore have a host of health issues that may arise.  Because these dogs are new into our rescue, health issues in the future may arise that we are not aware of.  Some of these issues are allergies, eye issues, yeast infections, interdigital cysts, slipped disks in their back, breathing problems, among a host of others that can occur at any time or when seasons change. While breed experience is not required, we encourage you to thoroughly research the breed and its financial, medical, and environmental needs to be sure the breed is a good fit for you and your family.  It is estimated that the average bulldog owner spends $2,000 per year on medical needs.   In addition to normal pre adoption surgeries, Winston Churchill also had surgery on his nares and soft palate to improve the quality of his breathing. This is reflected within her adoption fee. Bulldogs are one of the most expensive dogs to own, maintain, and rescue and our adoption fees reflect such expenses.  The application process for bulldogs usually moves quite quickly as they are a popular breed, so we ask that adopters do research and be prepared for adoption at the time you submit your application.  They are happy, goofy, playful characters and we are excited you are taking the first steps into rescuing one!   This dog requires an application fee.  This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.    We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion. Bulldog Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the bulldog. Our goal is place bulldogs in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the bulldog, we will not approve your application.
