Story
Oh Charlie Girl!! What can we say....This little firecracker definitely does not carry the "lazy bull" gene in her at all. Don't let her fool you on her cute looks, this little spicy 2022 edition of an English Bulldog has energy. As with all English bulldogs, Charlie Girl will require an air conditioned setting at all times, and cannot be left outside for too long as with any bull they overheat quickly. Charlie is looking for an active home inside without other dogs, as she was not raised running with other dogs and doesn't receive them very well. She may not be the best friend to the cat or any other small animal for that matter. With Charlie's zealous lust for life, packed with zoomies, and legs flying in the air like a frog, she may not be best suited for small children. As they may become obstacles for her to overcome and plow over similar to a bulldozer. She does need some leash skills and has so far been consistent in being an obstacle in and around your feet, so would require a strong handler that is aware of their feet at all times. She is not for a person whom may be frail on their feet or elderly as she can be a great log in front of a person and easily trip, fall, and succumb to her great ways of getting in the way with excitement. Don't let this description of her fool you, this girl is fool of energy and happiness, just needs a little direction which is easily found through her stomach as well. Charlie Girl is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, Microchipped, Heart worm and tick borne disease free. She genuinely keep her crate and or kennel clean so long as she is on routine. Charlie Girl is available for adoption! Fine Print: All dogs of NWMNAR are screened at the headquarters in Ada, Mn until they are vetted. They are then transferred to foster homes throughout MN and some into ND so they can get used to lifestyles with a family in a home. Adoption fee for an adult dog is $300 + Mn tax. Adoption fee for a dog over 3 years of age is $300 + Mn tax., pup/dog1 year to 3 years is $400 + Mn tax. Under 1 year of age $500 + Mn tax. Free adoption applications can be found on our website at: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/NMA/Dog. Because NWMNAR is not a public shelter, meet and greets do not take place until an application has been approved and a home visit has been completed in person or virtually. Meet and greets will take place in a public setting along with the adoption if compatible. Dogs can be met in Ada, MN weekday and weekends, or in our alternate office location in Maple Grove, MN on weekends only. Once we receive your submission, our application review team will be in touch with you. Please have patience while they look over your application.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Opal is a gentle, affectionate English Bulldog with a heart full of love and a personality that melts everyone she meets. At home, she’s the ultimate cuddle companion—always ready for pets and snuggles, especially if it involves relaxing on the couch under a cozy blanket. When she’s comfortable, Opal is happy to settle in and relax, but she also enjoys following her people around the house like a loyal little shadow. One of her favorite moves is flopping onto the floor and rolling over the moment someone walks by, politely requesting belly rubs. Opal’s sweet and goofy nature shines through in everything she does. She has a charming little wobbly walk that makes her presence known wherever she goes, and it only adds to her lovable character. Outside the home, Opal is curious about the world around her and enjoys taking her time to sniff and explore new sights and smells. Meeting new people is one of Opal’s favorite activities. She greets strangers with a friendly demeanor and will often sit nicely in front of them, patiently waiting for the pets and attention she hopes will follow. Her calm, even-tempered personality makes her a wonderful companion for anyone looking for a gentle, affectionate dog. Opal is potty trained and reliably goes outside. She is crate trained and does well resting in her crate when needed. She is currently working on her leash skills and is making good progress—she should do just fine going out on leash for potty breaks and short walks. Opal already knows basic commands like “sit” and “wait,” showing she’s eager to learn and please. Opal is a senior girl with some arthritis, so she takes life at a slower pace and has a bit of a wobbly walk. She may need a helping hand with stairs, so her future family should be comfortable lifting her when needed. With her loving personality, goofy charm, and devotion to cuddles, Opal is a wonderful lap dog who is happiest simply being close to her people. She’s the perfect companion for someone looking for a sweet, gentle bulldog who will happily trade endless love for belly rubs. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.  Bulldogs, pugs, and Boston terriers, Brussels Griffons, Pekingese and others are a member of the Brachycephalic breed and therefore have a host of health issues that may arise.  Because these dogs are new into our rescue, health issues in the future may arise that we are not aware of.  Some of these issues are allergies, eye issues, yeast infections, interdigital cysts, slipped disks in their back, breathing problems, among a host of others that can occur at any time or when seasons change. While breed experience is not required, we encourage you to thoroughly research the breed and its financial, medical, and environmental needs to be sure this breed is a good fit for you and your family.  It is estimated that the average brachycephalic breed owner spends $2,000 per year on medical needs. In addition to other surgeries, this dog may have had surgery on their nares and soft palate to improve the quality of their breathing.  This will be partially reflected within her adoption fee. These breeds are one of the most expensive dogs to own, maintain, and rescue and our adoption fees reflect such expenses.  The application process for these breeds usually moves quite quickly as they are a popular breed, so we ask that adopters do research and be prepared for adoption at the time you submit your application.  They are happy, goofy, playful characters and we are excited you are taking the first steps into rescuing one!   This dog requires a separate application and an application fee.  This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.    We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion. This dog requires a Bulldog Application.  All applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the bulldog. Our goal is place bulldogs in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the bulldog, we will not approve your application. To learn more, visit  https://underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/bulldogs/ to fill out the Bulldog application. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  VRS 11.25 ME  Sweet Agatha, a 9-year-old English Bulldog with a heart as soft as her squishy face. This sweet, mellow girl is looking for a forever home where she can do what she does best—binge watch TV, nap in the sun, and relax with her favorite people. Agatha is the definition of low-maintenance. While she enjoys a nice, easy walk, she’s just as happy (honestly, happier) spending her day snoozing, cuddling, and soaking up the calm energy of her home. She thrives in a relaxed, slow-paced environment and would be the perfect companion for someone who enjoys quiet days and cozy nights. She is fully potty trained and only goes outside, crate trained, and has wonderful house manners. Agatha is easy to care for—she does great with baths and nail trims, has healthy teeth, and has had no health concerns. She loves her daily routine—especially when it includes a few apple slices and her evening chew. Agatha loves people—both kids and adults—and tends to win over everyone she meets. She does well with other dogs in social settings like walks or the park, but in the home she prefers to be your one and only. She can get a little jealous when it comes to sharing her people, so she’s looking for a home with no other pets. Her favorite things include long naps, sunbathing, chewing on her favorite treats, and snacking on carrots and apples. She also has the cutest little heart-shaped marking in her fur—just one more reason everyone falls in love with her so quickly. Agatha does have a fear of thunderstorms, so she’ll appreciate a home that can offer her comfort during stormy weather. If you’re looking for a calm, loving, and easygoing companion who will happily be your shadow and your snuggle buddy, Agatha is your girl. Just be prepared—once people meet her, they’ll be asking for pictures. A lot of them. To learn more, visit https://underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/bulldogs/ to fill out the bulldog application. Frankie is a sweet, gentle dog who loves to snuggle and spend most of her day napping. Her favorite things are belly rubs, cozy places to relax, and short walks where she can take her time. She has lived peacefully with three cats, other dogs, and children, making her a wonderful companion for many different types of homes. Frankie has a calm, loving personality and enjoys simply being close to her people. Due to an unexpected relocation, I have made the incredibly difficult decision to find Frankie a new home. My only goal is to find her a safe, loving family where she can continue to be spoiled and cherished. If you think Frankie might be the right fit for your family, please reach out. I'd love to tell you more about her and help find her the forever home she deserves.

Story
Hello my name is Faith, I'm from Minnesota! Faith is a sweet, gentle girl with a tender heart who is still learning to feel safe after losing her previous owner. She’s low activity and timid, but with patience and a calm environment, her loving personality is beginning to shine. She thrives in a quiet home with a predictable routine and patient people who allow her to build confidence at her own pace. Faith responds well to consistency with gentle reminders. She is housed and crate trained and finds comfort in a cozy, soft bed. Faith may benefit from a calm, friendly dog companion to help her decompress, gain confidence, and continue opening up. Faith would do best living on the main-level of a home, stairs can be tricky (a few small steps daily are okay). With time, love, and support, Faith will blossom into a devoted companion.

Story
Adopter or Foster-to-Adopt Needed: Bunny Meet Bunny, a young, spirited pup with a heart full of love and a knack for making every day brighter. At just the right age for adventure and learning, Bunnyy brings a perfect balance of playfulness and cuddle time to your home. She’s the ultimate greeter—always ready to “talk” to you when you walk in the door—and a professional cuddler who will happily snuggle up after a day of fun. Bunny loves to play with her ball (especially chewing off the tag!) and enjoys romping around with other dogs, particularly those closer to her size. She’s crate trained, potty trained, and quick to pick up new routines. You’ll often find her following you from room to room, eager to be part of whatever you’re doing. She’s also a little “gift giver,” bringing you toys, sticks, or even socks to show her affection. Bunny does wonderfully with people and children—her foster’s five-year-old can pull her around the house, and Bailey just goes with the flow. She’s friendly with other dogs her size, though she prefers slow introductions and can be a bit possessive with her toys. She’s still learning how to share and sometimes tries to be the boss, so a home that can help her with gentle guidance and patience will be perfect. She also has a bit of an itchy belly and loves a good belly rub. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will fill your days with laughter, snuggles, and a few quirky gifts, Bailey is ready to meet you. Apply today to welcome this sweet Texas girl into your family! Notes from Bunny's Foster: She does wonderful around people and kids. My 5 year old will pull her around the whole house and she doesn’t mind. She plays with the resident dogs but sometimes doesn’t like to share her toys and can get kinda nippy. 1.5 years old • 20 lbs • Spayed • Great with people, including young children Please complete a Foster Questionnaire if you can give Bunny the soft landing she needs.
