This lady was surrendered when her owner was arrested. She is good on a leash and does know some commands. She has done well with other dogs but would probably like to be by herself. She is a jumper and hugger but in a friendly way. She is just really excited when she sees people. She is fixed and ready for a new home. When she’s comfortable, Opal is happy to settle in and relax, but she also enjoys following her people around the house like a loyal little shadow. One of her favorite moves is flopping onto the floor and rolling over the moment someone walks by, politely requesting belly rubs. Opal’s sweet and goofy nature shines through in everything she does. She has a charming little wobbly walk that makes her presence known wherever she goes, and it only adds to her lovable character. Outside the home, Opal is curious about the world around her and enjoys taking her time to sniff and explore new sights and smells. Meeting new people is one of Opal’s favorite activities. He is an 8 year old English Bulldog who is about 60 pounds.  He is super sweet, loves all people and great with other dogs, both small and large. His other favorite things include kids of all ages and lounging in the sun. He likes to be in charge of other dogs so is best with a strong human pack leader. Alamo is leash trained, so a fenced in yard is not required.   When outside, he does go potty and is potty trained, outside of marking when he finds something of interest. One thing Alamo is not fond of? The crate. Not his favorite place and he gets stressed in there. He does well being left out and hangs on the couch until you get back!  He also isn't fond of stairs and kindly asks for as few of those as possible - again, typical for his breed!   He does best with a strong pack leader to remind him that his alpha tendencies are not in charge, but rather the humans in the house.  He has not met any kids or cats, but is an easy going guy - and slow being a Bulldog and all.  He'd thrive in an environment where his humans are home often to spend their days with him - and telling him how handsome he is! Alamo is extremely food motivated and loves pleasing the humans around him.   Note that this dog has been treated for heartworm  and will need monthly heartworm preventatives year round for life. About Me Bernice is a 6-year-old English Bulldog/Boston Terrier mix with a one-of-a-kind look to match her one-of-a-kind personality. With her red merle/brindle/white coat, signature bulldog wrinkles, and those expressive eyes, she’s equal parts adorable and unforgettable. Bernice just arrived in rescue after being found abandoned at a local dog park, and while we’re still getting to know her, one thing is already very clear—this girl loves her people. Since arriving, she’s been a total shadow, happily following along wherever you go and soaking up every bit of attention she can get. She’s goofy, endearing, and comes fully equipped with all the classic bulldog charm… snorts, snuffles, and all. So far, Bernice has done wonderfully with dogs of all sizes and has also been good with cats, making her a great candidate for a multi-pet home. We’re still learning about her house manners—she may need a refresher on potty training—but she’s settling in and showing us more of who she is each day. Like many bulldog mixes, Bernice will need a home that understands and is prepared for the unique care that comes with her breed, including skin fold care and keeping her comfortable and healthy. Right now, Bernice is decompressing and discovering what it means to feel safe and loved.
