Hi there, I'm Vernon! I am a super snuggly sweetheart. I have the the softest, rabbit-like fur you’ll ever touch. I'm a bulldog mix with the cutest underbite, really, I'm a total cuddlebug and love nothing more than curling up close for a nap—or playing joyfully with other dogs. Before rescue, I was surviving as a stray on the streets for months, too scared to trust despite many kindhearted attempts. When I finally decided it was okay to trust and taken in, I had some serious wounds from life outside — I got some TLC, antibiotics, and love. But that is all behind me now and my foster says I've healed beautifully, both inside and out. I have been told that I can have a very serious look but I am gentle, affectionate, and ready to bond deeply with a forever family. While I haven't met cats yet, I am at my best and confident when I am with other dogs and would thrive in a home with canine companions or loving humans who adore snuggles. Now that my rough days are behind me, I'm ready for a soft bed, full belly, and lots of love—maybe with you? I am deaf and my other senses are heightened. So that’s pretty cool! I have some really pretty brown spots on my otherwise white coat. I feel it really makes me stand out in the crowd. I am the main character and I don’t need a supporting cast! I don’t really like being around other dogs and I REALLY dislike cats. Speaking of likes, I really like people. The older, the better! I don’t really enjoy hanging out with young kids and do best around humans who are 15 and up. My foster family thinks I am pretty funny. When I get excited I either hop or plop! I hop like a bunny and I plop for belly ribs. When I see you my entire body wiggles, not just my tale. I’m basically an overachiever. I love to be outside and I even like the snow! I am super curious and alert of my surroundings. I like to walk outside and my foster mom is working on my leash manners, but say I am learning! I sleep a lot, like a whole lot. I play in bursts and then lay down. I like to sit and lay right up against my humans but I’m not a lap dog. Like most bullies, I am VERY food motivated. He's strong because of his sturdy size and the only reason no tiny littles other than that he is a sweetheart and gentle at taking treats. He's extremely quiet, hardly barks unless there's a stranger outside or he needs out of his crate to potty. He has the cutest whimper like squeak sound that I guess is his cry when he wants something or just to be with you. He sits, shakes and waits for treats, he stays when told to and is a smart boy just wanting to be loved. He lays on his dog bed when told and as long as his family or person is close he's good. He does great getting in his crate & staying in it, he like his benebone, toys & comfy bed! Location: Centerville, OH Food: Blue Buffalo Salmon and Brown Rice Medication: NexGard Plus, Forti Flora This pint sized pup made quite an entrance to rescue with his insides trying to visit the outside world (rectal prolapse). After emergency surgery to correct this and neuter (while in Rome, right?) Timmy spent the next couple weeks healing up from that ordeal before returning to the vet to have his nares and palate surgeries. So what do I know about this teeny boy? He is tiny. He weighed 25 1/2 on arrival but didn’t have a waist at all. Now he is 21 1/2 and is perfectly sized for his frame. He can’t wear any clothes because all of them are too long for his body or his legs if they fit his chest. I know that he is working hard on potty training, but the background of his surgery combined with the aftermath of his surgery has made it hard to tell what his baseline is. He will go outside, but we have had a few accidents that have gotten fewer in number the longer he’s had to heal but will need more time and consistency in his new home. I know he is food motivated. He knows SIT and NO. He is crate trained. He loves to follow you or his foster siblings around everywhere. He cuddles and plays, but is a more reserved player with the other dogs. What I don’t know…if Timmy likes cats, although he is a perfect gentleman with our free roam rabbit. So my guess is that he would likely do fine with cats. I’m not sure how potty training will look for his future. I don’t know how he does on walks as it got very cold before we could get out for any lengthy walks.
