A dog DNA test listed him as 1/4 each beagle, husky, AmericanStaffordshire terrier and the last quarter was a bit of everything.Wilbur was adopted in December 2019 as a ~4 month old puppy from Companion Pet Rescue (I have contacted them twice about taking Wilbur, with no reply). Due to many life changes and health issues within the family, we can no longer keep him.Wilbur has met other dogs and been indifferent to them. We have aggressive cats that do not want him around but he was curious about them and when he got swatted by one, he backed off but did not try to hurt it., He has met children but has not lived with any. He will probably be fine in a home with another dog or dog savvy cats. Wilbur is incredibly friendly, loves _everyone_, and wants nothing more than to be with his humans as much as possible. If there is a heavy duty chew toy around he’ll be in heaven. He loves walks and chances to sniff around in new places or on car rides. He does well at home alone, although he will need time to adjust in a new home, as he can be anxious. He is crate trained, but is OK home not in his crate, too.  Wilbur is leash trained although he does pull some. He will sit and lay down on command and come if he feels like it or you have a treat. He has been known to “counter surf”. He also is a dog with opinions and if he doesn’t want to do something (get in a new car, have his nails clipped, be groomed at the groomer) it is tough to get him on board! He will sometimes snap when he doesn't want to do something, but only as a warning. I do have to give him an anti-anxiety med to take him to the vet to have his nails clipped. Between West Haven Animal Clinic and ShotVet, he is up to date on his shots and in good health.  Wilbur is an incredibly loving dog who has plenty of moments of playfulness. He will be a great companion for years to come, and I desperately want to find him a better home than the one we have unfortunately been able to give him. ##2763467##

Say hello to Forrest. He is as sweet as him namesake. A teenage boy took him from a suspicious situation to make sure he got the life he deserved. Thanks to that boy, Forrest made his way to one of our volunteers who instantly said “yes” to fostering him. He walked with a limp that she knew needed to be checked out and she was right. Forrest suffered a pelvic fracture sometime in his short little life. But the vet said it was already healing and with rest and proper support he would continue to heal and do great without surgery. And he is doing great. We don’t know what happened to cause this injury. We just know that his life is going to be amazing from here on out. He is fostered with other dogs and cats and he loves everyone he meets. His foster mom may be spoiling him :) He is doing great with house and crate training and he is a fast runner and learner. He will be great for a fun active family. We are estimating he was born about the end of May so he is a typical puppy with typical puppy energy and habits. He weighs about 15 pounds and we are having to guess at his breed mix. We are thinking he will end up being a medium dog. He will complete his vetting and be ready to travel to his forever home by then end of Sept. His adoption fee is $399 and if he has to be transported from TN where he is currently fostered there will be an additional $200 fee. Bailey has the face of a Beagle and the legs of a gazelle. He is trained to use a pet door and has been accident-free since arriving here. He's a sweet little boy that needs a family who will help boost his confidence. We think he's around 2 years old and he is healthy and ready to travel now. Meet Cici, Eumy’s tiny little sister and the smallest of all 12 siblings. At 2 months old, she weighs just 2.5 lbs — but this teeny girl has an enormous amount of love to give. Cici and her 11 siblings were found tucked into the rocks of a beach in Puerto Rico, trapped inside a little beach cave with the tide coming in. Rescuers climbed down into the rocks and pulled the babies out one by one before the water could reach them. Cici was the littlest of them all. And this girl is an absolute human lover. Cici loves, loves, LOVES people and would happily spend her entire day being carried around in someone’s arms. She is incredibly sweet, cuddly, affectionate, and just wants to be as close to her humans as physically possible. If there is an available lap, Cici plans on being in it. Based on her size now, our vet’s best guess is that Cici will stay under 25 lbs fully grown, but with rescue puppies, adult size is always a bit of a mystery! Cici is currently in Puerto Rico and is already on the docket to head stateside to a foster home — unless her forever family finds her first! Cici was almost washed away before her life had even begun. Now all this tiny girl wants is exactly what she loves most: a human to hold her close and never let her go.

Murphy Macaroni is a sweet Beagle boy who believes the best relationships are worth taking a little time to build. He’s confident around other dogs and does especially well getting to know them off leash. After exploring with the crew for a bit, he was ready for a good game of chase. He even spent time inside sharing the couch and affection with a smaller pup like a gentleman. A medium-energy canine sibling could make an awesome buddy for him. With medium energy, Murphy would love having a yard to explore, plenty of opportunities to sniff around, and a family to spend his days with. His Beagle nose will definitely appreciate having some investigating to do! He’s also responsive to guidance on leash and would love to keep practicing his walking skills with his new family. Murphy appreciates having his people nearby, so a home where he can gradually build a comfortable routine would be a great fit. He’s learning that alone time can be part of that routine too, and continued crate practice will help give him his own comfortable space at home. He could potentially share his home with a calm, dog-savvy cat after thoughtful introductions, and he’s already shown that dogs both big and small can be part of his friend group.
