Story
Hi person! My name is Stewie. I have been staying at the Grand Prairie Animal Shelter for a while now. As grand as it may be, I am really looking to finding my forever home. You see, humans can`t fit in my kennel, and what I love more than anything is cuddling with my favorite people! When you meet me, I might seem really shy, but come down to my level so I can bear crawl over and nuzzle you. My legs are really short, so I have an automatic bear crawl... Oh! I`m potty tained, too! Short, lovable and clean! Adopting me will be easy-peasy! Come down at the shelter today to meet me!

Story
I purchased Bates from a breeder in East Texas in 2019 at 6 months old. We quickly fell in love with his affectionate, silly, and smart personality. He adjusted beautifully to many changes during his time with us — full-time doggy daycare to “stay at home dog”, moving from an apartment to a house, mom getting married, and a cat brother. However, life with a new human baby has not been easy for him. Bates can be jealous over mom and needs lots of attention— making a home with active, childless adults a better fit for his future. Bates can be territorial over toys and food, so his preference would be a home with no other pets (although he currently coexists peacefully with our cat and has never had a problem at dog boarding). He learns commands easily, is fully house trained, and has no destructive habits. (But keep an eye on your dinner plate!)

Story
Friday (now known as “Maverick”) is a 2-year-old beagle/boxer mix. He was part of the Pups of the Week Litter featured in June of 2022. Maverick came back to Beagle Buddies when his family could no longer give him the care he needed. He is an exuberant and affectionate dog with a lot of energy. He is slender and streamlined and does not look much like a beagle. You see him and think, “That’s not a beagle at all!” …but just wait until he gets surprised, then you hear that bay! Maverick is very loving and loves to snuggle up next to you (or in your lap) on the couch. He has the best facial expressions. Maverick is currently working on manners as he doesn’t really understand personal space. His foster parents are working hard to teach him that jumping is only okay when invited to do so. He is extremely responsive to commands and to his name and he is crate trained. He doesn’t show any aggression to his foster family but is quite vocal and “talks” a lot. As you would expect in any boxer, he does use his paws a lot to communicate with you and to play. Maverick is quite slow to warm up to new people so the potential adopter will need to be patient and understand this. Maverick would do well in a home with active adults who can see to his exercise needs. Due to his current proclivity for jumping, if children are present in the home, it would be best if they were older because he is quite tall when he jumps up on his hind legs and could knock over a smaller child. Maverick is vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and heartworm negative. Friday's back story: Mama Sunday came to DFW Beagle Buddies on June 24 when she and 4 one-week old puppies were found on the side of the road in Red Oak. With a high temperature of 103 that day, we were very concerned that the babies may not make it. Thankfully, mommy and all 4 babies got the all clear from the vet and settled in at their foster home. 6 days later, animal control reached out to us to let us know that there were two more babies! While the 2 additional babies were quite a bit smaller than the other group, all did well and got a clean bill of health from the vet! Since they came over the course of a week, we namedthis group the Pups of the Week! Mama appeared to be full Beagle and the puppies appear to be Beagle/Boxer mixes. Their estimated birthday is June 17, 2022. If you'd like to meet Friday aka Maverick, please apply at www.dfwbeaglebuddies.org/adopt! Story
zzJelly was born December 15, 2018 and has a very sweet and patient personality. She was extremely loved and well cared for by her owner who recently passed away. Her owner had no children so zzJelly was raised with much love and attention. zzJelly worked with a dog trainer when she was a puppy (not because bad behavior) so she knows many commands. zzJelly is healthy since she went to the groomers and also had her health checked regularly. She is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm preventatives. She is friendly with dogs but I'm unsure about cats and children. I'm hoping that Jelly finds a loving family with a yard.Disclaimer: This dog is a participant in the Paws in the City Guest Dog Program, so ongoing care and custody are provided by the foster, not by Paws in the City. To meet this dog, contact info@pawsinthecity.org, or the foster Alex at aw4520011@gmail.com

UPDATE, MY SISTER FOUND HER FOREVER HOME, I'M STILL LOOKING FOR MINE!!! Updated: Fred has been neutered! Fred has been housebroken & create trained, he has learned the commands sit & stay. He is comfortable with a collar, he has 2, one for day to day use and a second training collar for leash training, (working on the leash training now, it's not going well, he's scared, but he will get over that with time), he is comfortable wearing both. Fred is very energetic and loves to explore, dig, chew, and eat. He has his own cage, blanket, toys, collars, leash, food bowl, (one that makes him slow down when eating). Fred is good with dogs that are bigger then him, smaller dogs he's not so good with. He loves kids. Fred is looking for a loving family with medium to high energy. Fred does sleep through the night. He has no known food allergies, he hasn't met a food he don't like yet.
