Story
Meet Tater, a charming 10-year-old gentleman who seems to embody the term ``laid-back.`` From our volunteer observations, Tater appears to enjoy lighter socializing with other dogs while maintaining a calm demeanor. This sweet senior is often described as a love-bug who solicits pets and seems to relish in simply sniffing the air and taking in his surroundings.Tater has shown to be great on a leash and, based on feedback, he tends to do well in various environments from walks to lounging at dog-friendly establishments. He`s been observed to be friendly and curious around both strangers and other dogs, and patient with children. Come meet Tater today and experience his gentle nature for yourself!

Story
Meet Gold, a handsome lab mix in a petite package! This independent gentleman enjoys being in the company of his humans, offering a quiet and steady presence without being overly demanding of attention. Give him a comfy spot, and he'll happily be your loyal shadow as you go about your day– whether you're cooking dinner or working on your computer, he'll be nearby, quietly keeping you company. What he might lack in leg length, he more than makes up for in his good looks and easy-going nature! Gold appreciates that his crate is his special zone and keeps it clean and tidy. However, he's not a fan of being left out of the action and can get quite vocal if he hears things happening while he's crated. Once he's settled in his secure den, though, he does understand it's his safe space.  In public, Gold is a calm observer. He walks nicely on a leash and isn't easily bothered by the sights and sounds around him. He's also an amazing passenger in the car, happy to relax on a bed or settle comfortably on a seat.  Gold has not had a chance to meet his foster sibling due to his medical hold, but has shown little interest in other dogs he's encountered. We haven't had the opportunity to see how Gold interacts with cats or children in our care, but he doesn't display any prey drive towards birds, squirrels, or smaller dogs. While not particularly motivated by food or treats, Gold is eager to please and loves being by your side. This gorgeous boy might give the camera a serious stare, but in person, he's a sweet, loving, and devoted companion waiting for his forever home!

Story
Red is a 13 year-old neutered male. He is looking for a home where he can spend his golden years. He is a slim, good-looking, and low-maintenance guy. He does like to go for walks and will sniff for rabbits. He gets most excited when his human returns home. He will bay and will even zoom around sometimes. He is very well housetrained in his foster home. He will follow you everywhere in the house in the hope that you are going to the kitchen. He likes toys that have treats hidden in them. He is missing part of one of his ears and this may be why he doesn’t care for other dogs and would do best in a home where he is the only one. He recently had his teeth cleaned and is in good health – he is neutered, vaccinated, and heartworm negative. He has lots of life to live as well as love and companionship to give to someone. Story
Friday (now known as “Maverick”) is a 2-year-old beagle/boxer mix. He was part of the Pups of the Week Litter featured in June of 2022. Maverick came back to Beagle Buddies when his family could no longer give him the care he needed. He is an exuberant and affectionate dog with a lot of energy. He is slender and streamlined and does not look much like a beagle. You see him and think, “That’s not a beagle at all!” …but just wait until he gets surprised, then you hear that bay! Maverick is very loving and loves to snuggle up next to you (or in your lap) on the couch. He has the best facial expressions. Maverick is currently working on manners as he doesn’t really understand personal space. His foster parents are working hard to teach him that jumping is only okay when invited to do so. He is extremely responsive to commands and to his name and he is crate trained. He doesn’t show any aggression to his foster family but is quite vocal and “talks” a lot. As you would expect in any boxer, he does use his paws a lot to communicate with you and to play. Maverick is quite slow to warm up to new people so the potential adopter will need to be patient and understand this. Maverick would do well in a home with active adults who can see to his exercise needs. Due to his current proclivity for jumping, if children are present in the home, it would be best if they were older because he is quite tall when he jumps up on his hind legs and could knock over a smaller child. Maverick is vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and heartworm negative. Friday's back story: Mama Sunday came to DFW Beagle Buddies on June 24 when she and 4 one-week old puppies were found on the side of the road in Red Oak. With a high temperature of 103 that day, we were very concerned that the babies may not make it. Thankfully, mommy and all 4 babies got the all clear from the vet and settled in at their foster home. 6 days later, animal control reached out to us to let us know that there were two more babies! While the 2 additional babies were quite a bit smaller than the other group, all did well and got a clean bill of health from the vet! Since they came over the course of a week, we namedthis group the Pups of the Week! Mama appeared to be full Beagle and the puppies appear to be Beagle/Boxer mixes. Their estimated birthday is June 17, 2022. If you'd like to meet Friday aka Maverick, please apply at www.dfwbeaglebuddies.org/adopt!
