She has been on sheep and done very well. She is house broken leash trained. Does not like a crate but will go in , Needs work with crate training. Penny is a dog that needs someone who can set boundaries in a positive firm consistent manner. Typical of herders, she will try to control if she senses you are not in charge. She knows commands, she is motion activated as are most herders. We are working with that and she can be reactive with other dogs, thus the need for a dog savvy handler. She would do best in a home with one other dog or no other dogs for those less experienced. Fenced yard is a must, as is a knowledgeable border collie person . This is Peanut!! Border/corgi mix but i see a lot of border!! He is a year old.. This boy is about a year old and a beautiful tri with a lot of white on him. He is neutered and up to date on all his vaccines/testing/wormer/flea and heartworm. He is heartworm negative. He is needs a place to shine, he is scared in the shelter but is well behaved and is really sweet and silly when his personality comes out. he is a bit timid of men but will allow touching once he sniffs you. Good with other dogs, Lets get this boy a place where he can run and be all he can be!! May be a sports prospect!!!! Peanut is settling in. He is very active and loves to play with other dogs but can be a bit overwhelming. He loved toys and will play tug or chase a ball (fetch in progress). He does jump up when excited and we are working on that. He walks nicely on a leash with a collar or harness. We are currently working on basic obedience and manners. Peanut needs an active home and would make a good running or hiking partner. He would also do well in dog sports. I will keep updating his progress.

He enjoys his walks with volunteers, followed by a nice cool down in the kiddie pool while he waits at the gate for his turn to return to his kennel. If you care for more information, please email your name and phone number to: InquiryForNewHorizonDogRescue@gmail.com We adopt only to the Florida counties of Pinellas, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco and northern Sarasota. Mackenzie and his seven brothers and sisters were found at two days of age with their mother in a ditch in a desolate area of northern Florida.  Mom is a beautiful, beautiful 29 pound white, young dog with perky ears (adorable!) with the maternal wisdom of Mother Earth. It is unclear how she found food.  Luckily, the family was found and brought into animal control, whereby animal control contacted us asking if we would take her and the family.   Mackenzie swims!  He's so good at it.  He is also litter box trained.   The puppies are fed only the finest of quality nutrition.  They have been to home improvement stores, the beach, pet stores, any and all to broaden their acceptance and understanding of the world.

Max is a sweet 4-year-old neutered boy who has been through a heartbreaking change. After his beloved owner passed away, Max was surrendered to animal control and suddenly found himself without the person and home he knew. Despite losing so much, Max remains an incredibly sweet and loving dog. He loves being by your side, soaking up pets, and simply being close to his person. He is also good with other dogs and has so much love left to give. Max is heartworm positive and will need the care and treatment recommended by his veterinarian. But heartworm does not change the loving, gentle dog he is—or the fact that he deserves a second chance. After everything Max has lost, we hope his next chapter will be the one where he finally gets his happily ever after: a loving family who will cherish him, keep him close, and show him that he is home again. This older 7 yr old gal has just been returned to the shelter after being with a local foster.. She was in an equestrian setting and the constant coming and going of people was a bit too much for her. Sadie is extremely intelligent, food-motivated, and eager to learn. She already knows sit, paw, down, stay, come, and roll over, and she enjoys learning new tricks. She is housebroken and crate trained. Despite having plenty of energy for training and activities, she is also very happy to settle down and be a couch potato. At her current foster home, she has calmly ignored the horses and done well around the barn. Sadie can be a little cautious when meeting new people and does best with a slow, positive introduction. Treats are definitely the way to her heart! Sitting down, offering her treats, and giving her a little time to approach at her own pace usually allows her to warm up quickly. Sadie has successfully participated in many appropriate playgroups with other dogs. She can enjoy canine friends but may correct dogs who become too pushy and sometimes tries to monitor or “police” energetic play. She also has a previous history of playing roughly with children, so we feel she would be best suited for an adult-only home or a home with older children who understand appropriate boundaries. Sadie has also had one previous nip during a meet-and-greet while a staff member was holding her leash as the potential adopter family was leaving the yard. The nip did not break the skin. Because of this history, her future placement should be comfortable providing structure, management, and slow introductions with unfamiliar people. Sadie has so much to offer the right person. She is smart, loyal, affectionate once comfortable, and eager to learn. We would especially love to find a rescue or adopter who understands herding breeds and appreciates their intelligence and unique personalities. Sadie is in need of a foster or foster to adopt home!! Great for an older couple who wants a lovely companion. you really should be dog savvy with this girl, not just herders but dogs in general. Bret's foster is willing to travel within 2 hours of Spring Hill, FL for an approved adoption applicant! Bret is a lovely, affectionate boy with tons of energy and enthusiasm for life. With his intelligence and drive, he would make a fantastic sports prospect or thrive with an active family that enjoys hiking, running, water activities, or other outdoor adventures. His experience with small children is unknown. Bret is crate trained and leash trained. He heels well on a leash when given reminders. Bret also knows how to "auto-sit" when you stop walking. He has learned many other commands in training such as down, stay, come, and leave it. Bret appears to be house trained. Bret graduated from basic obedience and intermediate obedience.
