Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Capitan is the sweetest little boy.  Well not super little, he is probably around 25-30 pounds now and will most likely get a little bigger.  We are unsure of his breed, he looks like he has border collie in him but probably also some terrier, maybe lab, his coloring suggests dalmatian.  He is amazing with other dogs and kids, loves to snuggle.  We are not sure how he would be with cats in his home but at our events he doesn't even seem to notice them so he probably won't care.  He is working on potty training but is crate trained and does pretty well on a leash.  He loves the water and mud so heads up.  One thing you need to know...he is deaf, and mostly blind, he lost one eye (congenital issue and it was removed), the other eye is not great either.  We think he can see shadows because he navigates his surroundings just fine, even when he is in a new place.  He would benefit from someone who has experience with a deaf and blind dog as training is difficult since he can't hear.  But he is so easy going he would be fine as long as his people do their research and learn with him.  Otherwise he is healthy, he is fixed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $400 To adopt Capitan, fill out an application at www.kakf.org/formsVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 7, 2026, 10:58 am

TOBY – INTELLIGENT, HANDSOME, AND READY TO GROW WITH YOU Available for Adoption in Illinois Applying for the job as your heart dog, please and thank you!Occupation: Strategic thinker with a flair for dramaHobby: Shadowing your every move, scouting snacks like a proVibe: James Bond meets Rookie of the Year Hi. Toby here. Ten months old. Sixty pounds. Blue eyes that tend to get me out of trouble. Sometimes. Let’s get something straight. I am not just a pretty face with zoomies. I am housebroken. Solid. I know where to go and where not to. I’m nicely trained. I understand boundaries. You set the rule, I respect it. I like knowing the expectations. Makes life easier for both of us. I’m e-collar trained and I have great recall. Call me and I come. Not a slow “let me think about it.” I come. If you have a fenced backyard, amazing. I will treat it like my personal playground. If you don’t, I can still do well because I listen. Now about the fun part. I’ve got puppy energy. Real deal energy. I love to run, wrestle, chase, and play. Another playful dog would be a dream. I’m great with dogs. Great with kids too. Just slightly older kids are best because I’m enthusiastic and occasionally forget I’m not pocket sized. People call me a character. I make expressions. I tilt my head when you talk. I follow you around because I like being part of your world. If you move, I’m curious. If you sit, I’m nearby. I’m loyal like that. I started life on a euthanasia list with my siblings. That was almost my whole story. Instead, I got a second chance. I grew up. I learned manners. I turned into a really good dog. Now I just need my person. I’m playful. I’m trained. I’m smart. I’m handsome. I’m ready. Come meet me. Bring a ball. Let’s see what happens. ##2484161##

This cutie patootie is approximately 10 weeks old and is looking to be your new best friend!! He has received vaccinations, has been dewormed and just got neutered. He was found as a stray and was surrendered to our rescue. He is being fostered with other dogs and cats and is doing well with both. He would do best in an active household. Mikey is being fostered in Mississippi but included in your adoption fee is transport to a location near you by Rescue Riders Pet Transport, the most animal friendly transport on the road! If you are interested in adopting this guy, please reach out to us and we will send you an adoption application. We look forward to hearing from you.

Story
Dolly was adopted in May 2025 from South Suburban Humane Society. Her birthday is Groundhog Day. She is very healthy, energetic, adventurous, playful, joyfully open to meeting new people, and excellent with young children and other animals. She would be happy with a family on lots of land or time for plenty of exercise. Her shepherd and hunting DNA is strong. Her puppy manners trainer called her “a thinking dog”. She trains very quickly, but needs more consistency from owners than we are able to offer.
