I'm a lucky dog and smart, too! I was chosen to go to college with the MSU Companion Animal students at MSU and I graduated! I spent 10 weeks learning great stuff with the students and now I'm ready for a real job - like loving you! I learn quickly, already know commands and I'm house trained. I'd love to have an active family and a job to do - just a sling care of you would be an honor. Don't you want to meet me? If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! Oreo Cookies are da BEST cookies ever! And i are one of them :D So you now know all about me ;) Except the creamy center, which may explain why i am in a rescue looking for a furever home.. It isn't my fault ;( I mean, picture this..... there i was, minding my own business... and my mom and dad sit me down to tell me that they are getting a divorce :( And my mom, brother and I will be homeless soon :( :( what do you do??? I was lucky enough to find a rescue that was able to help me be safe and loved. (my mom and brother found a safe place too) So here i am at the rescue, just waiting to be discovered by my real forever family and I have some things to tell you about me.... I am cute, a little chunky and a little silly at times. But i am SERIOUSLY looking for that home. So if you like a chonky diva, I am yours!!! Moxie is a 2-year-old Border Collie mix. She is pretty shy, but is a deeply loving girl looking for a patient home. This sweet girl takes time to build trust, but once she does, her bond is lifelong. She is fully potty trained, very smart, and thrives on routine. She does best in a quiet home with dog-savvy kids ages 10+ and people who understand fearful dogs.Moxie is polite but independent with other dogs—happy to greet and then do her own thing. She may do well with confident, dog-savvy cats, but could chase if they run. She walks nicely on leash when she feels safe and enjoys hiking, agility and paddle boarding. Crowds and loud noises are hard for her, and she’ll need a quiet, safe space during fireworks.She is an active dog who needs regular exercise and mental stimulation. She loves toys (especially squeaky ones), is treat-motivated when comfortable, and has shown great potential in training despite minimal experience. Because of her sensitivities, Moxie will require mulitple meet and greets with her potential adopters to ensure a successful forever home for her! She has proved she can form a strong bond with her foster parent, and would love a home of her home. Meet Maisey — the happiest little shadow you never knew you needed 💕 Maisey is an Australian Shepherd mix with a permanent smile and a heart big enough for every human, dog, and possibly the entire neighborhood. She greets life with full-body wiggles and believes strangers are simply friends she hasn’t leaned on yet. She absolutely adores other dogs and people, and while she’s still deciding what, exactly, a cat is, she’s keeping an open mind. Maisey has a playful streak and may occasionally “borrow” toys and bones, but she’s a gentle thief — if her foster brother files a complaint, she usually surrenders the goods without much protest. Walk time is a work in progress. When she spots a person or pup, Maisey rises onto her hind legs and performs a tiny ballerina dance of joy in an attempt to get closer immediately. She is currently studying the fine art of “walking politely” but enthusiasm keeps interrupting. Her manners are improving daily! She sometimes jumps up when excited or when she suspects someone else is receiving more attention than she is legally comfortable with. If attention levels drop below acceptable standards, Maisey will simply drape her entire body across you like a weighted blanket of love. Despite her joyful personality, Maisey is mostly a quiet girl. She’ll speak up briefly if she needs attention, then returns to her preferred communication style: leaning, snuggling, and loving you with her whole self.
