Story
Jace is a 6 yr old Border Collie-Heeler mix who is a sweet, snuggly, happy, energetic, incredibly intelligent and sensitive guy. He does well with most dogs but has some toy and food guarding. He is fully house trained, uses a doggy door to go outside and has free run of the house. He has anxiety in a kennel and loud noises scare him, he hides. Loves car rides, will play ball, stick or frisbee all day. Excellent recall off leash. He loves activity but also a warm bed to sleep in. Jace is healthy and would be a great hiking, biking, agitity, sports partner. Best in a home with older children as young children's movement can be unpredictable and NO cat or small animals. If you are looking for a best buddy to share lots of adventure and snuggles with, Jace is your guy. Jace likes people and is super friendly. He is protective of his people and cautious if a stranger walks into the yard. He has not acted aggressively in this situation. Must be an inside dog that has access to outdoors.

Story
Luke is a gentle, loving boy with a calm and quiet nature. He enjoys playing catch and is perfectly content entertaining himself with a ball. He’s very attentive, eager to please, and impressively easy to train—he picked up kennel training in just two days. Luke is affectionate and loves to give hugs, always looking to his people for reassurance and connection. He can be timid around other dogs, likely due to past experiences as a stray; when he was found, he had bite marks and a wound on his leg, all of which have since healed. Despite everything he’s been through, Luke’s gratitude for being rescued shines through in everything he does. He’s eager to learn, eager to love, and would make a wonderful companion. Luke does well with cats and children and is ready to find a safe, patient home where he can truly thrive. 💛

Story
Chunk is a 5 yr old mix breed (border collie/?Pit) kissy, lovable pal. I was told border collie/pit mix. I acquired him from an older couple in a rehome site. Vet says he looks more border collie than pit. Chunk is great with people. Chunk is amazing with other dogs at daycare. However at home he does not get along with one of my two other dogs. For a new home Chunk needs lots of opportunity to run. Chunk needs a lot of affection and one on one time. Chunk may be better as the only dog in the home. Chunk needs an experienced foster or adopted owner with lots of patience and time. Moving soon and he needs a new home as well. Shy of men.

Story
Meet Ameera!Ameera is a 10-year-old Border Collie that currently weighs about 52 pounds fully grown! Ameera can be shy during her meets, so she will need multiple greetings to feel comfortable enough to trust. But once she has the opportunity to get to know you, and become a part of your family, she would love to cuddle with her favorite humans. Ameera does well with dogs, cats, and even pigs, but will still need to have proper introductions to any resident animals living in the home to make sure that it is a great match. Ameera would do best in a home without resident or visiting children, as she can get overwhelmed by fast movements and loud noises. Because Ameera still has a hard time trusting people that are new to her, lots of frequent visitors can be really scary for her and would not be the best fit. Due to this reason, Ameera would require a 6ft tall, fully fenced in yard. This will not only to help her get the exercise she needs without having unneeded stress, but to also make her feel protected in her home. Ameera is also a very smart and well-mannered dog, and she sure knows quite the skills! She has learned commands such as `sit`, `down`, and `off`, she is crate trained for bed and is even housebroken! Ameera is a dog that loves to be on furniture and would love to take naps on couches, so a home that is okay with furniture surfing would definitely be the home for her! While there are things she can be confident in, there are still some things that Ameera considers to be too overwhelming for her, that most other dogs love. Those things are car rides, going on walks somewhere where she is not familiar, and especially meeting people inside of her space/home. Even though Ameera may have lots of people who love her and take great care of her at the shelter, living in a shelter is stressful for dogs like Ameera and she would love to be in a permanent home that is willing to provide her with the patience and the consistency she needs to be successful. If you would be interested in knowing more information about Ameera or potentially scheduling a time to meet with her, please fill out an adoption application on our website. Please know that some information may change overtime, as we get to know her better.

Story
Peppermint is a 8-month-old bundle of love who’s ready to find her forever family! Peppermint came to us from one of our partner shelters in Oklahoma. Out of time and on the euthanasia list, Peppermint was able to come to Iowa and look for her happy ever after. True to her name, she brings a refreshing dose of joy and sweetness everywhere she goes. This smart girl is still learning to walk on a leash, but she’s already doing great — she doesn’t pull and loves to stay close to her foster parent on walks. Peppermint adores people and gets along well with other friendly dogs. She hasn’t been tested with cats yet, but we think she’ll do just fine with dog-savvy kitties. Peppermint has a healthy curiosity about the world but isn’t one to chase wildlife. She enjoys playtime with toys and her humans, and once she’s had some fun and a nice walk, she’s perfectly content to snuggle up for couch cuddles. She’s a medium-energy pup with tons of potential — still learning her puppy manners like not jumping and keeping her mouth gentle, but she’s very attentive, motivated and eager to please. She`s also doing very well with potty training, and has almost mastered it. With continued guidance and love, she’ll blossom into the perfect lifelong companion. If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate, playful pup to share your days (and your couch!) with, Peppermint is waiting to meet you!To meet Peppermint, you can fill out an application on our website! Information on Peppermint may change as we get to know her better.

Story
Hi my name is Sally! I’m a 5-7 year old Kelpie mix who is eager to please my people! I am house broken, kennel trained, I know sit, down and no. I will also sit and wait for my food until given the okay if asked. I love to play with toys and to have plenty of bones to chew on. Even though I came from somewhere with no snow I have loved going outside in it and even roll around. Snow in my opinion is pretty cool!I do well with other dogs, I can be a bit sassy however. I like to let them know by growling if I feel they are getting too close to my favorite toys, bones or people. But I also growl when I want to play, I’m pretty harmless just want to let people know I’m here and paying attention. I’m not sure about cats as I haven’t been around them so that would have to be an introduction if you have a kitty fur friend too. When my foster family is home I prefer to be close to one of them. My foster mom and dad tell me I’m the sweetest girl ever and someone would be lucky to have me. If you are looking for a want to be lap dog, a super loyal companion, someone to give belly rubs to and a billion kisses a day I may just be the one you’ve been looking for.All adoptions are $300 per dog for puppies under 1 year, $250 for adults 1 - 9 years old and $150 for senior dogs which include spay/neuter, micro-chipped and up-to-date on required shots. Senior dogs, at our discretion, are adopted out at $150 per dog because we know they will have less time with your family and may eventually have more needs as they get older.
