Story
Tessie is a 5 year old petite 45lb brindle mix looking for a forever home. She was adopted out as a puppy and lived with cats, kids and other dogs in the past. She can be selective about her dog friends so would need a meet and two week trial run to ensure compatibility - she tends to do better with male doggos / ones that don't get into her business, but she's a wonderful listener so that helps as well. She will take a little bit of time to adjust, but with the right patient owner she will be a great addition. She is a perfect leash walker and loves car rides! Tessie's adoption fee is $250 and she's fully vetted / ready to meet people any time. If interested in meeting this gorgeous girl, please apply at www.foreverhomedogs.org and we will reach out!All adoptions are $300 per dog for puppies under 1 year, $250 for adults 1 - 9 years old and $150 for senior dogs which include spay/neuter, micro-chipped and up-to-date on required shots. Senior dogs, at our discretion, are adopted out at $150 per dog because we know they will have less time with your family and may eventually have more needs as they get older. But we feel these dogs deserve to live out the rest of their lives as part of a loving family.

Story
Meet Kage, the ultimate good boy who's just so darn cute! This gentleman is a pro at house living, fully potty trained, and a master at walking on a leash and harness. He's a social butterfly, getting along famously with other dogs and loving those backyard playdates with his pals. Kage is a stunning mix of Lab and Border Collie, the perfect blend of intelligence and family-friendliness. He's just the right size, like a mini Lab or a slightly larger Border Collie. When you find two fantastic things that go together like peanut butter and jelly, you celebrate! Kage is that winning combo, and now you can celebrate by making him a cherished member of your family. His temperament is pure gold - sweet as honey with everyone he meets. Now, here's the scoop: Kage is a special needs pup, and he's looking for someone who can be with him about 90 percent of the time. Storms, rain, and loud noises send him into severe panic attacks, and he's been known to chew through walls when anxiety strikes. Crates aren't his jam because of past storm-related trauma. He's also dealing with seizures, so he's on medication for that. Kage would thrive in a local adoption, and he's best as a single dog with no cats or small animals around. He's a wonderful companion for older kids, and he loves nothing more than cuddles and long walks. He's got the whole house training thing down too. His foster mom adores him and has prepared him for his forever family as best she can. Now, the ball is in your court. Remember, when you adopt Kage, you're not just bringing home a good boy; you're giving him the loving, understanding home he deserves. Don't shop, adopt, because Kage's life depends on it! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Story
I've been sponsored by the Petfinder Kia Grant to help reduce adoption fees. Thanks to the wonderful Petfinder Foundation my adoption fee is only $25.00! I'm Melissa, on a quest for the finest life a good girl like me deserves. Being a border collie mix, smarts are part of my nature. I may seem a bit shy initially, but with a bit of time, I'll become your loyal friend. Fortune has smiled on me; I was brought to a wonderful animal shelter at 8 weeks old and even survived a flood there. Now rescued again, I'm ready to find a permanent home where I can be loved and my inquisitive spirit fostered. Are you the one I'm searching for? If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to request an appointment to meet me. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and Minneapolis, MN areas at least monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual and we will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veteinarian ($35). Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! ##2044101##

Story
Sunday Morning is the smartest, sweetest, playful dog there is. She has a younger sister Lilo Eloise that will go to her forever home. They have been raised together since 12 weeks old. Sunday is 6 and Lilo just turned 5. Sunday does have allergies in which she gets a cytopoint shot every 3 months or as needed. I do have insurance on both that is transferable, however, it does not cover her allergies. Everyone loves Sunday as she likes to greet them with a hug. She is so playful. Walks great on a leash. Rehoming the girls is only due to a very disabled family member having to move in for end of life. This is not a easy decision and it breaks our heart's. Looking for a perfect family to continue loving these girl's. Sunday does not like animals smaller than her but gets along with all dogs her size or bigger. The girls come with all their pet supplies.

Story
We got Luna in October 2023 from a lady who was helping her find a more permanent home. Unfortunately, a lot has changed in our lives since October and we are looking to rehome her to someone who can give her lots of attention, as we are no longer able to. We want the best for her, and at this time we cannot provide her with as much attention as she needs. We will include all of her treats, toys, and food for free, and we do not have an adoption fee.

These pups are in Urbandale, Iowa too!

Phoebe is a 4-5 year old heeler/terrier mix who weighs about 45 lbs. She will need an experienced owner who would like to continue basic manners work, and she's fully house/crate trained. She won't be a dog park dog as she needs a couple one-on-one meets to love other pups. No cats or small kids in her forever home, sorry! She has a big herding instinct. She's a love bug who is searching for someone to teach her how to be a good pet, and will play fetch all day long. She and her foster mom have been attending sessions with Kai's Training Academy, and the trainer will assist in her transition to her new home as well. Story
Storm is almost 3 years old and 67 lbs. She is house trained and loves being in her kennel when needed. Storm was sleeping in bed with adopter until she had a baby and now easily sleeps in her kennel. Storm lived with another very submissive dog and did fine with him but the adopter mentioned that she would not do well with another dominant dog - she leaves cats alone. We have seen her interact well with other low key dogs given a proper introduction at adoption events. She’s more of a people dog than dog’s dog, but would do best in a home without young kids as the activity can be a bit much for her. Storm loves her people big and just wants to be near them as much as possible. Storm would need continued work on leash training, but is proving to be quite the eager student and is learning voice commands easily. Storm is a barker, but mostly outdoors. She isn’t into toys, but loves a good bone and lots of exercise. Storm is a super sweet pup that gives excellent good night kisses. Her adoption fee is $250 - apply at www.foreverhomedogs.org to meet her!All adoptions are $300 per dog for puppies under 1 year, $250 for adults 1 - 9 years old and $150 for senior dogs which include spay/neuter, micro-chipped and up-to-date on required shots.
