I AM IN FOSTER AND NOT AT THE SHELTE!!! PLEASE CALL AND SET UP A TIME FOR MY FOSTER TO BRING ME IN TO MEET YOU!Hello! I am new to the shelter! Please keep checking my profile for updates as the staff gets to know me better!Few can resist a puppy. These adorable, soft bundles of energy are similar to four-legged children with tails. And like children, puppies need a lot of time, care, love, and patience. A puppy will depend on you for frequent and regular feedings and walks, for guidance and training, and for much of your time and your love. Before you plunge into puppy parenthood, make sure to research! There are many rewards to caring for a puppy, but there are also many requirements. Puppy classes are highly recommended for socialization and a positive transition into your home. Puppies love to learn how to be the best dog for your family! If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. Dogs are individuals and have personality conflicts, just like us. Play groups do not guarantee that territorial or resource guarding issues will not surface in the home. While play groups do help us get to know the dog`s better, once they are adopted their new environments and new relationships will influence their behavior in ways we cannot predict. The Adoption Fee Includes:- initial canine distemper combination vaccination- first worming or stool check- rabies vaccination (for animals over 3 months of age)- 24 Petwatch microchipping- flea treatment/preventative- spaying or neutering-heartworm testingAdoption fee: $235.00Per state law, ALL ADOPTERS must purchase a non-refundable 2025 dog license at time of adoption for any canine three months and older. The cost of the license is $9.20. (Senior Citizen or Person with Disability-$7.20)All dogs come with free leash and collar.

Story
Meet Kage, the ultimate good boy who's just so darn cute! This gentleman is a pro at house living, fully potty trained, and a master at walking on a leash and harness. He's a social butterfly, getting along famously with other dogs and loving those backyard playdates with his pals. Kage is a stunning mix of Lab and Border Collie, the perfect blend of intelligence and family-friendliness. He's just the right size, like a mini Lab or a slightly larger Border Collie. When you find two fantastic things that go together like peanut butter and jelly, you celebrate! Kage is that winning combo, and now you can celebrate by making him a cherished member of your family. His temperament is pure gold - sweet as honey with everyone he meets. Now, here's the scoop: Kage is a special needs pup, and he's looking for someone who can be with him about 90 percent of the time. Storms, rain, and loud noises send him into severe panic attacks, and he's been known to chew through walls when anxiety strikes. Crates aren't his jam because of past storm-related trauma. He's also dealing with seizures, so he's on medication for that. Kage would thrive in a local adoption, and he's best as a single dog with no cats or small animals around. He's a wonderful companion for older kids, and he loves nothing more than cuddles and long walks. He's got the whole house training thing down too. His foster mom adores him and has prepared him for his forever family as best she can. Now, the ball is in your court. Remember, when you adopt Kage, you're not just bringing home a good boy; you're giving him the loving, understanding home he deserves. Don't shop, adopt, because Kage's life depends on it! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Sadie is a sweet and energetic 8-month-old spayed border collie looking for a new home! She is affectionate and loves exploring on her walks and meeting new people. She is looking for an adopter who can meet her needs as a border collie to match her exuberant energy and mental stimulation. She arrived here from Mexico and is up to date on all of her shots and has been microchipped with a comprehensive medical records. She is friendly with other dogs after a brief introduction. Story
Nala is a 6 year old border collie mix. She is around 80 pounds. She is high energy and loving once she gets to know someone. She does suffer with anxiety and fear around strangers, so it may require a couple meetings before she is fully comfortable. Once she gets to know someone, she is their best friend for life. My best hope for her is she finds a loving and understanding home where she can live out the rest of her days peacefully. I am looking to transition her to a new home in late May 2025. We can arrange a couple meetings prior to then to get her acclimated and happy.

Story
Trixie came to us with a litter of puppies. All of her puppies were adopted. Trixie needs a home who could provide her with a lot of activities. She is a dog that needs to be kept engaged, ex: Agility classes, enrichment activites. She does have a small prey drive and can jump/climb any height of fencing. She is a very smart dog and would not do well in a home left long hours by herself. Would prefer a border collie experienced home.

These pups are in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania too!

Story
Hello, my name is Ryder! I have a bit of a story to tell about myself. I found myself at BCHS because I came here for surgery through another organization. When I arrived at the shelter the staff saw my potential and offered to keep me here to find my forever home. I wasn`t here long at all, only 1 day, before being adopted for the first time. I went home with kids, another dog, and lots of farm animals. My first family was doing a great job on teaching me manners and I was catching on very well. Unfortunately, I was not a good fit to live with their elderly dog and I had to come back to the shelter after 1 week. During my next stay at the shelter I was able to attend doggy playgroup and the staff found out that I`m a `Rough and Rowdy` player. The staff also discovered that I have endless energy. I was here for a couple weeks and excited to get adopted again! Unfortunately, my 2nd family was not able to keep up with my energy and training needs. I was returned to the shelter again after just a couple days. The staff here at the shelter really saw my potential but were a bit stumped on what to do next to help me find my forever home. Luckily, a local training company reached out to offer help for me. Then I moved to Misty Pines! I have been boarding at Misty Pines since the beginning of January. While at the training facility I have attended all of the classes they offer, joined in their playgroups, had private training, and have gotten accustomed to some new equipment to help me be most successful. The staff at Misty Pines were even so curious about my background that they ordered me a DNA test! My adoption fee is a bit higher than most dogs adopted from BCHS, but this is because I come with so much more experience and support than most shelter dogs are afforded. Along with all of the typical benenfits of adopting a BCHS dog, I also come with the training that has already been invested in me, as well as continued classes and help from Misty Pines after my adoption. The value of all of that support has been added to my adoption fee and will be donated back to the shelter by the training company to help more dogs like me. My adoption process will be a bit different that others as well. Since I am not at the shelter, an appointment will need to be made in advance to meet me. You will talk to our Animal Training Manager about my behavior and to schedule my meet and greet. The staff will bring me to the shelter to conduct a regular meet and greet with my po

Story
Hello! I am Breezie and I am new to the shelter! I am a little shy when you first meet me but I warm up quickly. A little fact about me - I only have three legs. When I was younger, I was hit by a car and they could not save my leg. However, I do not let that stop me from being an excited and happy gal. So far, I have not done the best with my dog to dog interactions. The staff believe I would like to be an only dog in my next home. If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. Dogs are individuals and have personality conflicts, just like us. Play groups do not guarantee that territorial or resource guarding issues will not surface in the home.
