Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Image growing up in a yard with a human throwing you food over a fence and pouring water in your already dirty water day after day.  The human never touched you or the other three dogs in the yard and you lived outside like this summer, winter spring and fall until finally 8 years into your life someone reported your owner to the authorities and they finally came to save you!  You found yourself placed in a box separate from the only friends you had ever known.  Taken to a noisy shelter, poked, probed, bathed and then stuck in a kennel alone.  WOW SCARY right???  Well that was the experience for Max's, his best friend Moose and his 2 other fur buddies.  Unfortunately the oldest of the 4 was quite ill and passed away :(   The other one was adopted and seems to be doing well.  Max's was very shut down until the shelter staff placed him with Moose and then they saw Max's come back to life!   We couldn't allow Max's to lose the only friend he has ever had on this earth so we are taking both boys and they will only be adopted as a bonded pair with a contract signed that they will NOT be separated!! Max's & Moose will have to learn to live in a home, walk on a leash and understand what it is like to be valued and actually LOVED by a human.  If you would like to be considered for the boys please fill out an adoption application.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!July 23, 2024, 8:06 pm

Story
Duke had a bumpy start in life. He was abandoned as a puppy and later went through two rescues until he was adopted by us. He is from California who then went to a rescue in Nevada where we adopted him then brought him back home to California. He then moved with us all way to here to PA. He is very well behaved. The calmest big dog I have ever known. He is extremely kind of loving to my son with special needs and super playful with my 4 year old. We have another small dog and cat. He gets along with both of them really well. He is allowed on our sofa and really just wants love and attention any chance he gets. We are moving back home to CA and unfortunately he can’t stay with us where we are going. We don’t know anyone here that could take him and no friends or family member can take him back home either. It breaks my heart but I want him to go to another loving home. We did the DNA test on him and it came back that he is border collie/german shepherd.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Update 3.8.2014 Buddy is now 2 years old and will be a work in progress. Buddy needs an experienced dog person, he cn not be allowed off leash EVER, he needs someone willing to get him out ofhis shell.  Posted 1/14/13 Buddy was in a very bad situation, born in a barn and not socialized or fed on a regualar basis.  He is very shy and with a little work can become a wonderful companion,.  He is about 10 months old and weighs 38lbs so he will be a meduim sized dog.  He is slowly getting used to being in a house since it is all foreign to him.  He is much more comfortable outside and PLAYS like a champ! This dog does need a fenced yard!!   His adoption fee is $200, BUT remember he needs a little work to be your BEST BUDDY!!  All the dogs are Spayed or Neutered, Heartworm/Lyme tested, UTD on vaccines, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas and overall Vet checked. We offer a 30 day money back guarantee along with an adoption kit . Application REQUIRED. We take the applications in the order that we receive them. Adoption fee required. Story
Meet Fawkes (a.k.a., Rye - just look at those eyes!), a 1-year-old border collie mix, weighing in at about 38 pounds. Fawkes was surrendered by a commercial breeder after not selling. Fawkes is learning to become a more confident dog now that he lives in a family with another dog and cats. He's not particularly vocal, which is a nice touch for a herding breed dog. He's been tested with children 9 & over, cats, and a larger dog. He has lots of energy and enjoys going on leashed walks in the park or around the neighborhood as well as playing with other dogs off leash in a securely fenced yard. Unsurprisingly he's super fast! Fawkes would enjoy a canine companion in his new home. He is wary of his feline housemates (they have pointy bits!), but does not chase them. He's food driven and lovestreats of all sorts. This boy is very bright and highly trainable. He enthusiastically responds to commands and under gentle leadership will thrive and become more confident. Someone who can give him the exercise and stimulation he craves is ideal. Fawkes has mastered going up and down stairs in a split-level house, leash walking, and sitting on command. Fawkes is a little nervous on car rides, but with exposure he'd probably come to enjoy them more. He likes his cage and sleeps soundly in it at night. Fawkes is potty-trained, but regression is common. Fawkes is being fostered near Valley Forge National Park, so his adoptive family will need to travel there for a meet-and-greet. Fawkes is UTD on vaccines, microchipped, dewormed, neutered, and has been on flea/tick/heartworm prevention since coming into the rescue. Story
This week guy was left locked in a cage for a couple of months. Since he's been in rescue, he is very affectionate and playful. Loves dogs, and kids but not a cat guy. We think he's about three years old and he weighs 40 pounds. Would love to have someone to run and play tug with. He would love a fun active family. If you are interested in adopting this sweet boy, please visit funnyfarmpets.org, or you can read all about our Tennessee based rescue and find the link to submit the adoption application He is ready to go!
