Story
Meet Penelope – the bravest cuddlebug you'll ever meet! Penelope is one of the sweetest souls we’ve ever rescued, and she’s finally ready to find her forever home. After enduring unimaginable trauma early in life, Penelope landed in a shelter where she was placed on the euthanasia list due to overcrowding. Thankfully, we were able to step in just in time and begin her journey to healing. During her initial veterinary assessment, we discovered something heartbreaking — Penelope was missing her tongue. We’ll never know exactly what happened, but from that moment on, it became our mission to help her heal, both physically and emotionally. Now, months later, Penelope is thriving in foster care and full of love to give. She adores people — especially kids! She loves following little ones around to see what they’re up to, and being a part of playtime is her favorite. She’s a total cuddlebug who wants nothing more than to snuggle up with her people. When she’s not curled up with you, she enjoys sunbathing in the yard or snoozing peacefully in her crate. Penelope is also a social butterfly with other dogs — both big and small! She lives with two canine foster siblings and absolutely lights up when friends come over for playdates. While she prefers the energy of larger dogs for more active play, she’s gentle and respectful with smaller pups, too. The only thing on her “no thanks” list? Cats. You might be wondering about her care needs — especially with her missing tongue. Thankfully, it’s very manageable! She eats “mini meatballs” twice a day and has made amazing progress, transforming from underweight and frail to strong, healthy, and absolutely beautiful. Penelope has shown us nothing but resilience, love, and joy — now it’s time for her to share all of that with a forever family.

Story
Ladybird is a 5-year-old Pittie mix who we rescued from the South LA Shelter. Ladybird is a beautiful, athletic girl who truly shines outdoors. She has a medium-to-high energy level and would love a home that enjoys being active together. She does well with other dogs and can coexist around larger animals like horses with supervision and clear boundaries. Because Ladybird has a very strong prey drive, she’ll need a home without cats or small animals — this is simply part of who she is, and we want to honor her instincts while keeping everyone safe. Ladybird is a sensitive, thoughtful girl who takes her time warming up. She prefers slow introductions and appreciates when her person advocates for her space, especially around new people. She may approach to sniff and say hello, but she isn’t a fan of immediate hands-on affection from strangers. Once she trusts you, though, her loyalty runs deep. Her ideal home is a calm, predictable environment — think quieter households, low-key lifestyles, and people who aren’t constantly hosting big gatherings. If interested in adopting Ladybird, please apply at wishbonela.org 🤍

Story
‼️Perfect dog alert! Our sweet Miss Nala is officially ready for adoption - and look at her sweet smile! 🥹 Nala is a 5-year-old, petite pittie with the sweeeetest soul. She was surrendered to the shelter when her family had to relocate, and it’s clear she was deeply loved as their family pet until things got hard for them. She lived with kids, was adored by her family, and losing her home was no fault of her own. 💔 Nala was later saved from euthanasia at Downey Animal Shelter and has shown nothing but love and gratitude since being given a second chance, thanks to her amazing foster. She’s wonderfully well-behaved and incredibly easy. Nala walks beautifully on leash, is fully potty trained, and picks up new routines quickly. She grew up with children and absolutely adores kids, making her an excellent family companion. 🤍 At home, Nala is sweet, affectionate, and happiest being close to her people—following from room to room and quietly keeping you company. Nala gets along well with dogs and even larger animals like pigs and horses, showing how calm, adaptable, and steady she is. She does chase cats, so a cat-free home would be best for her. If you’re looking to adopt a dog who is already beautifully trained, well-mannered, and ready to settle seamlessly into a home, this is your opportunity. Nala has been an absolute dream foster and is more than ready for her forever home. Apply today at wishbonela.org. ✨🐶
