Story
Say hello to athletic Ali (like Muhammad Ali). This sporty pup has ALL the energy. Ali is not a good match for a first time dog owner, home with small children or unsteady humans, folks with weak arms or shoulders, or anyone looking for a couch potato dog. That`s not Ali. Ali is a go-go-go type of dog. He wants to live every moment of life to the fullest! Adventure! Exercise! Play! Laughter! Toys! More play! More adventure! He’d love a life where he had a safe yard with very high fencing, humans who like to run or hike and have a good foundation of dog experience, and of course- lots of toys to play with and destroy with impressive skill. Ali needs training- at only 9months old he’s in a bit of a teenage phase. He’s strong and motivated on leash and relatively moderate in his reaction to other dogs as he walks past kennels. Ali has a zest for play and adventure which is charming and inspiring. Don’t we all need that one friend that gets us out the door doing new things? Well, that’s Ali! From Ali`s Day Hike Volunteer:Meet Ali – The Energetic, Leash-Chewing middleweight with a Heart of Gold!Float like a butterfly, walk like a champ – that’s Ali. This playful powerhouse has energy to spare and a love for life that’s contagious. He`s always ready for the next round of zoomies, a game of play, or a full-on sniff session in the yard.Ali’s got a thing for chewing on his leash (we like to think of it as his pre-fight routine), but he’s all fun and no fuss. When it’s time to walk, he’s a champ—loose leash, easygoing, and totally non-reactive to other dogs that pass by. And when the energy winds down? That’s when Ali lands his signature move: the head snuggle. He’ll gently press that big ol’ noggin against you, soaking up every bit of love and giving it right back.Like his namesake, Ali’s got the moves, the spirit, and the heart of a true legend. Looking for a playful, loving pup with championship-level charm? Step into the ring with Ali—you won’t want to tap out.

Story
Meet sweet Birdie! This adorable 4-year-old boxer/mixed breed was rescued just in time from the Kern County Shelter in Bakersfield by Jennifer Pryor of Pryor's Planet Rescue (503c). Birdie is currently with a foster who adores her! Birdie is a medium-sized beauty and gets along well with most dogs when introduced properly. She has medium to low energy and enjoys her daily walks and she loves playing with her ball. She has a love for water--She loves spending time at the beach or even in a kiddie pool! Birdie is fine with cats as long as she is supervised. She really is the perfect companion. She is crate-trained, non-destructive, and adores all humans. She has no health issues, knows basic commands, and is a great car rider who sits in the back with a big smile. Birdie is a perfect match for humans who enjoy long beach walks or relaxing on the couch. She is not a big barker, has good coping skills (does not have any separation anxiety), and is easy to walk on a leash. Birdie was spayed on 4/12/23 and is up-to-date on her vaccinations. If you are interested in meeting/ fostering/adopting this adorable girl, please go to the rescue's website and fill out either the foster application or the adoption application (whichever one you are interested in). Story
Meet Jax! A nearly seven-year-old Boxer mix from San Mateo, CA, whose tan coat shines almost as brightly as his personality! Weighing in at a solid 70 pounds, Jax might just think he's a lap dog with his affectionate, sloppy kisses and an unwavering desire to be close to his humans. Imagine this gentle giant curled at your feet, or better yet, joining in a lively game of keep-away with gleeful children. His joy is palpable, especially when he performs his signature "jumping jax" at the mere mention of a walk! Jax has a heart full of resilience and love, ready to bring warmth to any family. Though he prefers not to be left alone for long, he’s a perfect companion when around other dogs he knows or people—even if just in another room. He adores the great outdoors, and his enthusiasm shines during playdates and adventures at the local dog park. He’s sociable with dogs of all sizes, though his recall may need a little polish—Jax is ever curious about the wildlife he encounters! Living with Jax means embracing his high-energy spirit and managing his sensitive stomach with the right diet. An enclosed yard, constant companionship, and a routine filled with walks and playtime would ensure his days are as joyful as he is. Does your home have room for a big-hearted boxer mix with a love for life? Could you be the one to keep Jax's tail wagging happily ever after? If so, please contact us at adopt@joyfulpets.com, and let's chat about the joy Jax can bring into your life! Also, Jax is open to a long-distance adoption—love knows no distance when finding your perfect companion!

Story
Buford was found in the streets of LA by a good Samaritan, skin and bones, then luckily found himself in a warm foster home with a pack of three other wonderful large dogs. He has proven to be a real gem, melding in nicely and being a perfect gentleman in his foster home, and is now ready for his forever home. This 90 lb love bug enjoys many things: sun bathing, cuddling and snuggling on bed or couch, playing fetch, watching Netflix with his human buddy, and playing with his stuffed animals. He is a quick learner and so easy to please - sits on command, goes to his pen when asked and at mealtime where he patiently awaits his food, goes potty before bedtime and is a great all night sleeper, knows how to properly position himself in front of the fan for summertime cool-off, and eager to learn more tricks! His best fit home is one with a good sized yard for him to run around in, and people ready to take him out for walks, hikes and adventures (with continued work on his leash training he will be that perfect outdoor companion). Anyone ready to call him part of their family will be very very lucky. If you think you are a good fit, please email therealbark@gmail.com so you can meet him!

Story
Linus is a seven-month-old pit bull mix with a heart full of sweetness and a lot of potential. At around 30 pounds, he’s on the smaller side—just the right size for someone looking for a compact, loyal companion. He’s crate trained, rides well in the car, and is eager to learn, but he’ll need an adopter who’s ready to keep building on his obedience training. Linus is smart and willing—he just needs a little consistency and guidance to help him grow into the best version of himself. He does have a tendency to chase cats, so a home without feline friends would be best. Linus is available for adoption in the Greater Los Angeles area. If you’re looking for a young dog who’s affectionate, fun, and ready to be your sidekick, Linus is waiting for you.
