Story
Hi, my name is Bella 💗 I’m a sweet, shy girl who is still learning that the world can be a safe and gentle place. I may be timid at first, but once I feel comfortable, I show my loving and loyal heart. I do best in a calm, patient home where I can move at my own pace and build trust slowly. Soft voices, cozy naps, and kind humans mean everything to me. I’m an older gal with lots of love to give, and I’m hoping for someone who sees past my shyness and gives me the chance I deserve. If you’re looking for a gentle companion who will quietly steal your heart, I might be your girl. 🐾

Meet Haus, a mellow and easygoing 9-year-old Lab/Boxer mix who’s looking for a loving home where he can truly shine. Haus is a well-behaved gentleman who thrives in a home environment and gets along well with cats. He’s a laid-back companion who enjoys the comfort of home and is not destructive. While Haus is a joy indoors, he can be reactive on a leash, so he will need an owner who is diligent and attentive during walks. Despite this, he remains an ideal dog in every other aspect. Haus is well-trained, easygoing, and will bring a calm and steady presence to any home where he is the only dog. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who is content with a relaxed lifestyle and can offer all his affection to a single-dog household, Haus is ready to find his forever family.

Story
Meet Boots! A joyful three-and-a-half-year-old Boxer/Labrador Retriever mix currently in San Clemente, CA, whose bright spirit and mostly white coat make her a walking bundle of sunshine. Boots brings the perfect blend of playful energy and heartfelt devotion to every day. Weighing about 60 pounds, this medium sized girl is equal parts running buddy and champion cuddlebug! Boots adores stuffed animals, rope toys, and any excuse to dash around the yard with a happy bounce in her step. She is house-trained, crate-trained, and confidently knows how to sit. With her steady temperament and friendly nature, she is compatible with kids, cats, and other dogs. She especially enjoys spending time with teens who match her upbeat enthusiasm! Car rides are another favorite, and she happily settles in for the adventure. Her personality is delightfully goofy! One side of her face carries a boxer like expression, while the other side shows the charming effects of facial nerve damage from surviving distemper as a puppy. The result is an endearing grin that could rival a movie star pup! She has had most of her teeth removed and may need ongoing dental awareness, yet she eats, plays, and snuggles with total joy. Loud or high pitched noises can make her uneasy, and she would benefit from continued positive reinforcement training to build confidence and polish her manners. Boots thrives in an active, caring environment with a pet parent who enjoys walks, runs, and lively play sessions. After a day of fun, she is happiest curled up on the bed or relaxing in her kennel, content just to be near her people. Boots is ready to find a new loving home filled with laughter, movement, and affection. Are you ready for a loyal companion who will keep you smiling every single day? If you’re interested in providing Boots with a loving home, please email meetme@joyfulpets.com for more information about adopting her! Please note that Boots is currently in foster care through one of our trusted rescue partners and will remain with her foster family until the right match is found. Because rescue-partner pets are managed directly by their respective organizations, their adoption process, requirements, and fees may differ from Joyful Pets’ direct rehoming program. Our team will be happy to connect you with the rescue and help guide you through their process to ensure everything goes smoothly. Content Notice: This pet is represented by Joyful Pets. Story
Meet Denim! An eight-year-old Boxer/German Shepherd mix currently in Fontana, CA, whose essence is a warm ray of sunshine wrapped in a beautiful tan coat with white accents. This affectionate girl has spent years perfecting the art of companionship and she is ready to share her heart with a new loving family. If cuddling were an Olympic sport, Denim would bring home the gold medal! Her favorite place in the world is right beside her favorite people, whether they are watching television, working from home, or simply relaxing after a long day. She believes every moment is better with a little physical contact, a gentle head scratch, or a cozy belly rub. Add a tasty treat to the mix, and you have the recipe for one very happy pup! Although she is a mature lady, Denim still has plenty of energy and enthusiasm. The moment she realizes it is time for a walk, her excitement shines through! Exploring the neighborhood, feeling the breeze, and spending time outdoors are among her greatest joys. She also loves sunbathing in the yard and can often be found soaking up warm rays like a professional relaxation expert! Denim is house-trained, crate-trained, microchipped, spayed, and up to date on vaccinations. She has completed formal training and proudly knows commands including sit, stay, wait, down, paw, and even twirl! She is highly food-motivated and enjoys dental chew toys that keep both her mind and smile busy. Car rides are another favorite adventure! She thrives with structure, regular exercise, and positive reinforcement. Denim would do well in a home with older, respectful children and pet parents who can continue providing guidance, affection, and daily activities. Denim has a history of a serious incident involving a small dog that resulted in fatal injuries. Since then, she has participated in professional training and has successfully spent time around compatible dogs in structured environments. She has never shown aggression toward people and is known for being affectionate, social, and deeply bonded to her family. Because of her history, Denim needs a home without cats or small dogs. She may be compatible with some larger dogs following slow introductions, careful management, and proper supervision. Most of all, Denim needs a family who appreciates loyal companionship, endless cuddles, and a best friend who will happily stay by their side through every chapter of life. Could Denim be the sunshine-filled companion you have been searching for? To learn more about adopting Denim, contact adopt@joyfulpets.com! Content Notice: This pet is represented by Joyful Pets. Story
Amanda is a gentle senior dog who is ready for a true second chance. She is incredibly social and loves people and other dogs. After her owner passed away, Amanda was left behind in the home and eventually ended up at the shelter. Losing her person and her home was incredibly confusing for her, but despite everything she has been through, Amanda has remained a kind, loving, and easygoing companion. At around 10 years old, Amanda is well past the chaos of puppyhood and is happiest living a calm, comfortable life. She enjoys soft beds, quiet routines, and simply being near her people. She is the kind of dog who settles in beside you and brings a peaceful presence to the home. Amanda does well with a structured routine and appreciates a relaxed environment where she can feel safe and secure. Like many dogs who have experienced big life changes, she may need a little time to adjust to a new home, but once she settles in, her sweet and loyal personality shines through. Senior dogs like Amanda are often overlooked in shelters, but they make some of the most wonderful companions. They ask for very little and give so much in return. Amanda is fully vetted and ready for adoption. She is looking for a patient, loving home that will give her the stability and comfort she deserves in this next chapter of her life. If you’re looking for a gentle, loyal companion and want to give a deserving senior dog the fresh start she’s been waiting for, Amanda may be the perfect match.

Story
Meet Blu! A vibrant approximately two-and-a-half-year-old Boxer/American Pitbull Terrier mix currently living in Los Angeles, CA, whose boundless energy is perfectly matched by her big heart and beautiful brown brindle coat with white accents. Blu’s story began in the most unexpected way, she followed a kind soul home from a grocery store and never looked back. Since then, she’s been spayed, vaccinated, and doted on with loving care. Living alongside two senior pups and a couple of confident cats, Blu has shown gentle patience and a genuine eagerness to belong. But it’s clear she’s ready for more, a space to stretch her legs, a routine to call her own, and a family ready to match her curiosity with companionship. At 65 pounds, Blu is a large pup with a personality even bigger! She’s affectionate, incredibly smart, and motivated to please. Her favorite pastimes? Fetch with her beloved soft frisbee, epic tug-o-war matches, chewing on yak cheese, and zooming around the yard like a joyful whirlwind! She also enjoys a bit of enrichment through supervised shredding. She loves tearing up soft toys (like her Tearable monster toy!) and has discovered the fun of tugging on cardboard strips offered to her during training. It’s been a creative way to channel her natural need to rip and chew, and she hasn’t chewed on anything off-limits in months. Blu knows an impressive list of commands including sit, wait, down, up, leave it, come, and more! She responds well to structure and loves training, especially when it comes with treats and praise. Though she’s still working through her sensitivity to passing cars and men in baseball caps, she’s made steady progress with positive reinforcement. Blu is still a young dog, she's energetic and can get excitable. This usually results in jumping up on people and cobbing, though her caregivers have done a lot of work to help her manage these behaviors. She can also be destructive when under-stimulated, which makes regular mental and physical enrichment essential. She does best with three walks a day, plenty of playtime, and enrichment activities to keep her mind engaged. A fenced yard is a big plus, as is a family who enjoys an active lifestyle and has time to include her in their daily routine. She’s crate-trained, house-trained, and has been comfortable being left alone for short periods. Blu is searching for a new loving home where she can thrive. Somewhere with room to romp, people to love, and someone who finds her endearing mix of sweetness and spunk just as delightful as we do! Are you ready to make Blu your loyal sidekick and adventure buddy? To learn more about adopting Blu, contact adopt@joyfulpets.com! Content Notice: This pet is represented by Joyful Pets. Story
Meet Yuli! A spirited five-year-old Boxer mix currently in Springfield, OR, whose essence is a heartwarming blend of devotion and goofy charm wrapped in a handsome brown brindle coat with white accents. Affectionately nicknamed a “velvet hippo,” this 90-pound sweetheart is the epitome of a loyal companion! Yuli is happiest when he's close to his humans, whether that means curling up beside you with his head in your lap or trotting along at your side with a rope toy in his mouth. He’ll gently nudge you for belly rubs, lean in for snuggles, or suggest a friendly game of tug with those big, soulful eyes. He thrives on routine, feels most secure when he knows what to expect, and benefits from calm, structured transitions when something new is happening in the home, and truly bonds deeply with his people. Yuli is house-trained, crate-trained, and knows a full repertoire of commands, including sit, stay, off, leave it, and even spin! His energy is moderate, he enjoys a solid daily walk and a few rousing rounds of fetch with his favorite ball, but after that, he’s all about those cozy afternoon naps. A true gentleman indoors, Yuli knows the difference between chew toys and furniture, although he’s a self-proclaimed “Super Chewer” who does best with durable nylon or rubber toys. Social with people, Yuli has made fast friends with many of the humans in his neighborhood and enjoys greeting familiar faces on his strolls. In the home, he can take a little time to settle when unfamiliar guests first arrive and may bark excitedly at new visitors until he feels comfortable. This is not aggressive or protective behavior, and he does best with a calm introduction and a short decompression period (often with a chew or crate time) before joining the group. Once he knows someone, he greets them happily without barking. He’s especially compatible with adults and older children (ages 10+) who understand the art of a gentle pat rather than a tight hug, he’s affectionate but doesn’t love being grabbed. Yuli’s one challenge lies in his leash reactivity. He’s working on staying calm and focused in the presence of other dogs, especially when approached suddenly by off-leash pups. He would flourish with an experienced and patient pet parent committed to ongoing positive reinforcement and behavior support. Because of this, Yuli is best suited to be the only pet in a home with a fenced yard where he can safely explore, fetch, and sniff to his heart’s content. With a chicken allergy, Yuli requires a chicken-free diet tailored to support his sensitive skin. Aside from that, he’s a healthy, happy boy eager to share his next chapter with a confident guardian who can help him feel secure and supported. Could Yuli be the snuggle-loving sidekick your family’s been waiting for? Contact adopt@joyfulpets.com to learn more! Content Notice: This pet is represented by Joyful Pets. Story
Meet Johnny Cash! A spirited three-and-a-half-year-old Boxer/Husky mix currently in Los Angeles, CA, whose essence is a thrilling blend of wild adventure and devoted affection, all wrapped in a striking brindle coat with charming white accents. Cash is a powerhouse of energy and joy, perfect for someone who craves the open trail, a daily runner’s high, or the quiet satisfaction of a long mountain hike. With his strong, athletic build and endless stamina, he's happiest logging long-distance adventures with his human and recently crushed a 7½-mile hike through the valley, proving himself to be an incredible hiking companion. He’s not just a running buddy, he’s the kind who’ll carry his favorite chew bone to greet you at the door and then snuggle up close when the day is done. After a good walk or hike, Cash settles beautifully and is calm and relaxed in the house. But don’t let that fool you, he’s always ready for his next walk, run, or hiking adventure at a moment’s notice! At home, Cash is a big-hearted cuddlebug! He adores cozy time with his human family, especially the younger crew, he’s gentle and affectionate with his guardian’s nephews, ages 10 and 13. His play style is impressively adaptable: he loves a good rough-and-tumble with a young Ridgeback, but can switch gears to match the gentler vibe of his senior Staffordshire Terrier pal. That said, Cash has shown a preference for his canine companions and can be selective, he gets along well with some dogs but has made it clear he's not a fan of Frenchies. Cash is house-trained, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and obedience-trained. He knows sit, down, heel, go to place, and more! He thrives on structure and routine and is content being alone for up to six hours. He eats a good-quality grain-free diet and is currently doing great with digestion. Now, Cash isn’t the right match for every household, his high prey drive is strong and non-negotiable. Shortly after being adopted at five months old, Cash severely injured the family cat. While the cat made a full recovery, the incident required veterinary care, and during the chaos, family members were bitten while attempting to separate the animals. He continues to show intense prey drive toward small animals, and he cannot live with cats or be trusted off leash under any circumstances. He pulls toward squirrels and small dogs on walks and must remain securely leashed at all times outdoors. He needs a guardian who understands and can confidently manage this behavior. Despite these challenges, Cash has a loving heart and a joyful spirit. Could you be the experienced, active pet parent Cash needs to thrive? Email adopt@joyfulpets.com and take the first step toward adventure and a whole lot of love!

Meet Spider, a lovable 6-year-old Lab/American Bulldog mix who’s ready to find his forever home. Originally from Tucson, AZ, Spider was turned into a shelter after a farm incident involving one of his owner's pigs. Despite his past, Spider is a well-behaved and affectionate dog who gets along great with other dogs and people. Spider is smart and loving, with a warm personality that will brighten any home. He does take one pill per day (fluoxetine, similar to Prozac) to manage kennel stress, but with the stability and care of a forever home, he should be able to be weaned off this medication.
