Story
ABOUT ZEUS Zeus came to HAP after his owner passed away. At 8 years old, adjusting to shelter life after living in a loving home has been challenging for him. However, once he realized we all think he’s the cutest guy, he started to warm up to the place! Zeus has become a bit of a celebrity around HAP. Our animal caretakers often take him on walks through the building, where he happily stops to greet all his human friends. In true bully breed fashion, he can be a little stubborn, he now insists on visiting his friends after his outdoor walks. What can we say? The love has become an essential part of his routine! When he’s not soaking up attention, Zeus is a laid-back, easygoing senior pup who enjoys chewing on bones and going for short, leisurely walks. He is friendly with new people, easily won over by treats, and very affectionate. He enjoys long car rides, showing off his tricks, and melting into his friends for love! Given his age and size, Zeus is a low-maintenance companion who spends most of his day lounging or napping! If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.

Story
This friend has just arrived to us as a stray. When animals are found as strays, our staff will search for an owner. If no one comes to reclaim the pet, we will begin looking for a new home. Unfortunately, we rarely have a background on stray animals. Our staff will spend some time getting to know them and update their bio with more information as we learn. They are pending interactions with other animals until they have been cleared by our vet. Please note that we are often unsure of house, crate, car, and leash training status upon arrival. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. Selena’s smile is like a curve that sets everything straight. She’s a 2-year-Boxer mixed with maybe Mastiff. Those adorable wrinkles of hers make your heart smile. Selena is so gorgeous, especially when you feel her warm, glowing, and loving personality. She loves going for long walks around the farm but can be a little strong on the lead when she smells a good scent in the air or on the ground. She’s a smart girl and would love for her family to continue her training because she wants to impress you and be the best dog you ever had. Selena’s a sweet girl who craves love and kindness. She’s very sad in the kennel and looks up at you with those beautiful warm puppy dog eyes that melt your heart. All the volunteers cannot wait till we see her so happy with her very own family. She will be the happiest girl you ever met when you become her hero. Selena wants to be your one and only light of your life. She will have you covered in love and kisses for a lifetime! Story
Jojo is being fostered in Illinois. She has some vision. Hi. My name is Jojo. I am a 4-year-old boxer mix. I like to think of myself as a playful happy-go-lucky gal. I may not see you well because close objects are like shadows and a little blurry to me, but I know you are there. I get along well with all the cats and dogs in my foster home. I like cats. But I may need slow introductions with little feisty dogs. But I would love to go to a home that has many friendly 4-legged buddies. I like to be active and meet people and other dogs. However, I am not too good with children because a lot of time kids either approach me too fast or gather around me, which makes me so scared that I have to give a warning snap. But I do love my walks. Even more, I love an open field that I can have all to myself so I can let out a lot of my energy. At home, I like to relax and sit at my spot while my foster daddy is doing his work. Everyday, I get to be petted and it makes me feel loved. I am housebroken. However, every once in a while, I have accidents because anxiety gets the best of me when I realize my foster dad has not been home for a while. I will do well in a home where someone is present 90-95 percent of time, perhaps with someone who works out of home or is an active retired person. Story
✨Meet Parissa! ✨ Parissa was originally brought into a shelter in Philadelphia after being found as a stray. Parissa tested positive for Parvo and therefore was in need of a rescue to provide them lifesaving medical care. We gladly stepped up, and gave her all the medical care she desperately needed thanks to our parvo program. Along with a lot of love and supportive care she now has fully recovered and is ready for a home of her own! Parissa is a boxer mix who is full of happiness for her second chance at life! Parissa is a young and happy puppy that will require a family up to the task of providing her the physical and mental exercise and training that all dogs require. Puppies require a family who can continue their basic training and socialization skills to grow into confident and happy adult dogs! All dogs require an adjustment period after adoption to decompress and acclimate to their new home, routine, housemates, and environment. Patience, consistency, and guidance are required to help them successfully transition and become a part of their new family! If you are interested in being considered for them please apply on our website at www.angelsretreat.org 💕🐾 Angel’s Retreat www.angelsretreat.org West Chester, PA PA Kennel License 17335

Story
Milo is a goofy 3 1/2 year old retriever/pitty mix looking for a new home. He is house-trained, neutered, and up to date on his rabies vaccination. He knows basic verbal commands and hand signals, and is very food-motivated, which makes training easy. He can be shy at first, but once he gets to know you—especially with a few treats—he becomes an incredibly loyal, affectionate companion. He is very energetic and would benefit from an active home who can provide him with ample play time and extra attention. He is crate trained. He has also done well with cats in our experience. We are looking to rehome him ASAP and it is urgent. My name is Jacob Peluso-Vargas, and you can reach me at 646-469-6259. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, and leave a message if I am unable to get to the phone.August 6, 2026, 7:34 pm

Story
This friend has just arrived because their owner could no longer keep them. While owners can provide some history on their pets, our medical and behavioral teams will still evaluate them. Dogs that have lived in homes previously typically have some training established, but we cannot guarantee that those behaviors will remain consistent in a new home environment. They are pending interactions with other animals at the shelter until they have been cleared by our vet. Our staff will spend some time getting to know them and we will update their bio with more information as we learn.
