Story
Meet Tank Meet Tank! This goofy, lovable 2-year-old Boxer mix is back with us and now in a foster home. Tank is ready to start fresh and find his forever home! Tank is full of personality — playful, silly, and so much fun once he warms up! He can be shy at first but give him a little time and you’ll see his sweet, goofy side shine through. He’s housebroken, and an easy walker! Because he’s still adjusting and a bit nervous, we recommend a home with kids 6+ who can be gentle and understanding as he settles in. ? 2 years old ? Boxer mix ? Easy walker ? Housebroken ? Shy but warms up quick ? Playful & silly Tank is ready for his new beginning — let’s help him find the loving home he truly deserves!

Story
Amaryllis carries a name as beautiful as her spirit. This sweet senior girl has spent her life giving quiet love, soft eyes, and steady companionship. Now, she simply hopes for what she has always given so freely — a home. She isn’t asking for much. Just a warm bed, soft voices, and someone who will treasure her for the rest of her days. She moves with grace, loves with depth, and understands the comfort of a slow morning and a peaceful night. One of her loveliest traits? She is wonderfully dog-friendly.Amaryllis greets other pups with calm, polite sweetness — never pushy, never loud. Just a gentle wag of her tail and a quiet “hello`Her days of needing adventure are long past. Instead, she dreams of a window with sunlight, cozy blankets, and a person who sees the beauty in her frost-kissed face and wise eyes. She has so much love left to give — the quiet kind, the loyal kind, the kind that stays.Amaryllis deserves to bloom for the rest of her life in comfort and love.If you have space in your heart and home for a gentle senior soul… she’s waiting, with a soft wag and a hopeful heart.

Story
ABOUT ZEUS Zeus came to HAP in July after his owner passed away. At 7 years old, adjusting to shelter life after living in a loving home has been difficult for him. Shortly after his arrival, Zeus began experiencing concerning symptoms, including vomiting, loss of appetite, and bloody stool. He was referred to Wilmington Animal Hospital for further evaluation and advanced testing. An ultrasound revealed a mass on his spleen, meaning Zeus will need a splenectomy to ensure he can live a happy, pain-free life. Zeus’s best chance at recovery is in a calm, home environment. While temporary fostering is an option, returning to the shelter after surgery would likely cause him to decline mentally. For this reason, a foster-to-adopt home is truly the best path forward for him! In foster-to-adopt, HAP covers the cost of his care and provides the supplies he may need! Zeus is a laid-back, low-key senior pup who enjoys chewing on bones, soaking up attention, and going for short walks. He is friendly with new people, easily won over by treats, and very affectionate. He enjoys long car rides, showing off his tricks, and melting into his friends for love! Given his age and size, Zeus is a low-maintenance companion who spends most of his day lounging or napping. He’s also comfortable being left alone and is not destructive when unsupervised. Zeus is already house-trained, walks well with a harness, and knows basic commands. Due to Zeus’s condition and behavior around other animals, we are requiring that he be the only pet in a home, so he can recover stress-free! If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.
