Story
Fresa is the sweetest and most loving dog I’ve ever had. She’s been my world for the last 5 years. Shes housebroken. She loves to go on walks, she’s a cuddler as well. I can no longer have my sweet girl because I’ve had to move in with family and because I am a new father and we have cats it’s extremely difficult for us to train her with the cats. She can be very good around other dogs as we’ve raised our chihuahua mix cookie around her since she was a puppy. I would love to find my girl a nice home for her golden years. She is good with one dog and a cat she doesn’t do well with lots of animals.

Story
Duke 's Story Duke is a 10-year-old Boxer with a heart as big as his blocky head. Weighing in at about 65 pounds, this handsome senior found himself in our care after his owner experienced a family hardship and could no longer keep him. Despite the changes in his life, Duke remains a gentle, resilient soul who is ready to start his next chapter with a loving family. At some point in his life, Duke may have suffered a stroke, which left him with facial paralysis on one side of his face. The good news is that it doesn’t slow him down one bit—he eats, drinks, and enjoys life just like any other dog. In fact, his lopsided grin only adds to his unique and charming good looks. Duke enjoys getting out for walks and exploring the world around him. He can pull a bit on the leash, so he may benefit from some structure and guidance in this area, but he’s eager to please and would do well with someone willing to work with him. He’s a friendly guy who gets along well with other dogs and has even shown that he’s okay with cats, making him a great candidate for many different types of homes. Duke has been through a lot, but his spirit is strong and his heart is full of love to give. If you’re looking to open your home to a loyal, sweet senior who just needs a soft place to land, Duke might be your perfect match. We are now accepting applications for Duke and would love to help him find the forever home he deserves. 🐾💙 Please apply for Duke at https://www.gloucestercountynj.gov/FormCenter/Animal-Shelter-5/PreAdoption-Application-50

Meet Tank Meet Tank! This goofy, lovable 2-year-old Boxer mix is back with us and now in a foster home. Tank is ready to start fresh and find his forever home! Tank is full of personality — playful, silly, and so much fun once he warms up! He can be shy at first but give him a little time and you’ll see his sweet, goofy side shine through. He’s housebroken, and an easy walker! Because he’s still adjusting and a bit nervous, we recommend a home with kids 6+ who can be gentle and understanding as he settles in. ? 2 years old ? Story
ABOUT ZEUS Zeus came to HAP in July after his owner passed away. At 7 years old, adjusting to shelter life after living in a loving home has been difficult for him. Shortly after his arrival, Zeus began experiencing concerning symptoms, including vomiting, loss of appetite, and bloody stool. He was referred to Wilmington Animal Hospital for further evaluation and advanced testing, where an ultrasound revealed a mass on his spleen. Zeus has since undergone a splenectomy, an important surgery that will allow him to live a happier, pain-free life. Following his procedure, Zeus was placed into a loving foster home where he can relax, heal, and recover in a calm, comfortable environment. This peaceful setting is exactly what he needs to regain his strength and emotional well-being after everything he’s been through! Zeus is a laid-back, low-key senior pup who enjoys chewing on bones, soaking up attention, and going for short walks. He is friendly with new people, easily won over by treats, and very affectionate. He enjoys long car rides, showing off his tricks, and melting into his friends for love! Given his age and size, Zeus is a low-maintenance companion who spends most of his day lounging or napping! Story
ABOUT JAX Looking for a lovable senior? Jax is an 8-year-old golden boy looking for a fresh start! Jax came to HAP when his previous owners moved and could no longer keep him. Shortly after his arrival, our team noticed Jax was having difficulty with one of his hind legs. We sent him for radiographs and an orthopedic consult, which revealed he had a torn CCL and would require surgery. To help keep him comfortable and ensure a smooth recovery, Jax was placed in a loving foster home! Here is a summary of what his foster mom shared with us: "Jax is a sweet and loving boy with a heart full of affection and lots of personality! Jax is highly food-motivated, which makes him a quick learner and easy to train. He already knows how to sit, give a paw, and stay, and takes his medications without any trouble when given a little wet food on top. Jax is great with all humans, even if he reacts at first, he quickly overcomes his fear and turns into a big lovebug. He’s very tolerant of our kids, their noises, and all the activity that comes with a busy household, making him a perfect family companion. Curious and engaged, Jax loves to see what’s going on around him and enjoys being part of the action. This affectionate boy also loves his toys, goes into his crate without any issues at night, and is fully potty trained. Jax has been recovering from a leg surgery over the past couple of weeks, showing patience and resilience along the way. It’s clear he comes from a loving home and he’s ready to return that love tenfold to the right family." **Jax is currently still in recovery, seeking a foster-to-adopt home. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals.
