Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Tank is a 3-year-old, slightly under 40 lbs, boxer mix that was found as a stray during his initial stay at the Gloucester County Animal Shelter. His original owners reclaimed him only to return him and his littermate at a later date for reasons not related to Tank. He was then adopted a second time just a few days later, only to be returned due to “guarding his food bowl from their five resident cats”.   When Tank was at the shelter, he shook terribly and would hide in the outer parts of the kennel, hardly being noticed and full of fear and stress. His chances were very slim, so he was pulled by his volunteer buddy.   Tank was pulled into a loving foster home in November 19, and has had time to decompress and shine! He has shown zero guarding concerns towards foster, and is respectful towards small critters (ferrets and guinea pigs in the home). They are not loose in his presence, but he goes over to their habitats, is friendly and respectful of them, and wags his tail.    Tank is not housebroken; he is working hard at it and has improved, but even the vet believes it is 2 and a half years of learned behavior, where he was never taught, so now we are breaking old habits that are instilled in him. He wears washable belly bands that work as diapers for his urine as needed, or when home we just frequently observe and let him out to potty.    Tank is dog selective, and lived in a home with cats prior. However, must go to a home that is savvy and can allow safe separation for cats and eating times. Tank is very kid friendly to respectful children, and does well with women and men. He walks well on a leash, is crate trained, and has learned commands such as “kennel up”, sit and shake. Tank is a complete LOVER, loves to be wrapped up under a blanket laying with his family. If you want a snuggler, Tank is 100% down for that!!    He loves he benebones, cheek rolls and toys so very much, and although he loves the big back yard so much, he prefers hanging out inside, snuggling to watch a show, and chewing a bone with his friends. He gets the zoomies, loves fetch and then is ready to come inside. As a very anxious pup, Tank has overcome so much at such a young age, and his foster family will foster him for as long as it takes to find him his PERFECT match!!    Now with SJR as of late March, we are looking for someone who either works from home, is retired or simply home more times than not, in a quiet home. Tank loves companionship!! He also will thrive with a family who can continually take him out to potty and be understanding and patient. He is a certified foodie, loves snacks and thrives on structure and routine.    He needs a family that will love him unconditionally and not give up on him. Tank really is a genuine sweetheart and loves all of the friends we introduce him to!!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 19, 2026, 10:01 am

Story
PT (short for Part Time, Pinky Toe, Public Transit, etc.) was born in October 2024 and adopted in January of 2025 Gainesville, FL, and then moved with her family to Philadelphia, PA in July of 2025. She has all of the personality and puppy energy you could ask for, while noticeably chilling out as she grows older. She loves going to the dog park and has incredible agility- truly a graceful freak of a dog! My partner and I have had increasingly busy schedules, and on top of that recently separated. This has put a strain on the amount of time we are able to spend going on long walks, to the park, and focusing on PT's needs in general. While the decision to rehome her has been incredible difficult, ultimately we want to find a home for PT where she can receive all of the attention she deserves.

Story
Jojo is being fostered in Illinois. Has some vision.Hi. My name is Jojo. I am a 4-year-old boxer mix. I like to think of myself as a playful happy-go-lucky gal. I may not see you well because close objects are like shadows and a little blurry to me, but I know you are there. I get along well with all the cats and dogs in my foster home. I like cats (see https://youtu.be/t_3b0r0n9LY ). But I may need slow introductions with little feisty dogs. But I would love to go to a home that has many friendly 4-legged buddies.I like to be active and meet people and other dogs (see https://youtu.be/9LG4Cy9_kJI ). However, I am not too good with children because a lot of time kids either approach me too fast or gather around me, which makes me so scared that I have to give a warning snap. But I do love my walks. Even more, I love an open field that I can have all to myself so I can let out a lot of my energy (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nWkm8OssZU ). At home, I like to relax and sit at my spot while my foster daddy is doing his work. Everyday, I get to be petted and it makes me feel loved (see https://youtu.be/Y_-7FDicj-M ).I am housebroken. However, every once in a while, I have accidents because anxiety gets the best of me when I realize my foster dad has not been home for a while. I will do well in a home where someone is present 90-95 percent of time, perhaps with someone who works out of home or is an active retired person.Blind Dog Rescue has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Story
Hey there! I'm Bart, a 1-year-old Boxer mix who arrived at the shelter as a stray on June 1st. I'm ready to leave the shelter behind for good and find my forever home! I'm a little shy here in the shelter but I'm hoping to find an active family soon, with owners who can match my enthusiasm and zest for life. I've met another dog here during my time at the shelter, and we said "hi" to each other but I'm still nervous and wasn't quite ready for playtime yet. If you have a doggo at home already, I'm happy to meet them at the shelter prior to adoption to see if we get along! I recently got to spend a day at Art City Vets where their team took great care of me and got me all neutered so I'm ready to be adopted! And I'm pretty sure I overheard them say I was their best patient EVER. (Okay, maybe they say that to all the dogs, but I was a really good boy!) Want to meet me? Stop by ACCT Philly and say hi! Open every day from 10am to 6pm. VIDEOS Bart loves to be pet! https://youtu.be/lCx-qVudHhI?is=0hvD8tKERlEUU-CS Cuddling Bart: https://youtube.com/shorts/bZW7eqTxjFs?is=Taez0ibFtDs9fgpD Met Larnold https://youtube.com/shorts/okYO7SlB_rQ?si=iKYcA5oxygINdCoZ Met Larnold2: https://youtu.be/9REhQ5Mdg0Q?si=afGHgy6Pm-n1XZ1I Met Larnold3: https://youtube.com/shorts/VXcF_TVSZE0?si=lph8TZ33jqXaafst Theodore and Bart quick fence meet: https://youtu.be/vO8dnwXZgdg Theodore and Bart leashed meet 1: https://youtu.be/hL6TGUuRxdA Theodore and Bart leashed meet 2: https://youtu.be/2rTLTnDXjRU BEHAVIORAL INFORMATION Per volunteer 6/15 : I took Bart out Friday evening. He was easy to leash & walk. In the yard he just wanted to hang out with me and be pet. He is very friendly & affectionate 6/11 Per staff behavioral eval Kennel Presentation: quiet and bouncy, soft eyes, loose body, tongue hanging out. At the front, some gentle jumping on the gate. Appeared eager to come out! Leash Skills: can pull hard at times, darting hard at the end of the leash and straining to go in certain directions. Sociability: he was spinning, running, zooming and jumping when loose in the pen! Ears back, loose wiggly body. I sat on a bench and he jumped on my lap for cuddles, burrowed his head into my chest for next rubs. Tongue hanging loosely, squinty eyes, low fluid tail wags. Highly social, sought constant contact with me. Play: ran after a tossed toy, then ignored. For play he would run and pounce off me, then run away and repeat. Dog Interaction: Met Larnold https://youtube.com/shorts/okYO7SlB_rQ?si=iKYcA5oxygINdCoZ https://youtu.be/9REhQ5Mdg0Q?si=afGHgy6Pm-n1XZ1I https://youtube.com/shorts/VXcF_TVSZE0?si=lph8TZ33jqXaafst Vocal at the fence, prey bows, disengaged on his own. On leash, tried to go vertical and over the head of the other dog immediately, with continued interaction, showed some teeth and then Did a Loud air snap. Decided to walk along after that. Sniffed other dog when rear was accessible, rest of walk was uneventful. Good and bad elements to the dog meet Return to Kennel: easy Color Level: remain blue Recommendations and considerations: high energy, needs to run daily, tons of fun! If other dog in the home be prepared to do a very slow and incremental introduction with lots of management like crates, baby gates, paralleled walks, etc. may take time to fully integrate Per Volunteer 6/10/2026: Very excited and playful boy. When I approached his crate in the isolation room, he was very loose and wiggly and very excited to go out! Easily leashed him, and he pulled very hard the whole way out of the shelter. I would recommend a harness. In the play yard he was super playful and loves to romp around. He also has a very cuddly side to him and got right in my lap for pets. He doesn’t seem overly interested in toys and he’s pretty treat motivated but not overly interested. Very wiggly body meeting other dogs through the fence and sometimes vocal also. Very sweet and playful young pup! Very easily went back into his kennel and no issues unleashing Walksheet notes: Bart was taken out on a walk on 6/5 and 6/7. Bart had no general issues on 6/5, had low energy and was noted by the handler “excited to go out, but still calm. Wanted to run toward someone walking through the yard". On 6/7 Bart had no issues in or out through the kennel, and was noted to have moderate issues on the leash and mild issues being shy. Energy was low to medium that day and the handler noted “Pulls very strongly towards other dogs. Shakes off after handling. Not eating outside” Dog Meet Notes from 6/7: Pulled hard towards Theodore, stiff body, high still tail, hackles raised when face to face. In the yard, able to be sniffed and sniffed back. Air snapped and started to hard bark when Theodore put a paw on his back. Per staff 6/7: "Kennel Presentation: Laying on his bed when I approached, slowly came forward, ears to the side, low tail, ate the food I tossed into his kennel. Leash Skills: Tried to push out of kennel at first, stopped and backed up after a second and then was able to easily leash. Once leashed came right out and pulled moderately on leash, tail low, ears back. Sociability: Not eating outside. When handling, tail low, ears back, panting. Shook off when I stopped handling and moved away. Play: n/a Dog Interaction: Met Theodore, pulled very strongly towards him, ears back, mid to high tail. Stiff and hackles raised when face to face. Pulled very strongly towards him as he left, was still pulling hard towards him when he was out of view, not eating food, mid tail wags, hackles raised, ears forward. Switched to a harness, when in the yard did not approach Theodore. When Theodore sniffed, he would turn around and sniff, snapped and hard barked when Theodore put a paw on him. Return to Kennel: Walked back loose leash, hopped right into kennel and leash was removed easily. Color Level: Blue" ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia.
