Story
Currently fostered in: Brooklyn Park, MD 💙Meet Jackson!💙 Some dogs are content with minimal human interaction. Some dogs enjoy their personal space. Jackson? He has never heard of either of those things. This big, goofy teddy bear adores people, has personality for days, and has one of the sweetest hearts you'll ever meet! At 2.5 years old and about 70 pounds, Jackson firmly believes he is the perfect size to be your personal shadow, weighted blanket, emotional support buddy, and full-time best friend. He takes the title 'sidekick' very seriously. Privacy? Never met her. Getting up to grab a snack? He's coming with you (and wants one too) Going to run errands? He's by his leash ready to go! Need to use the bathroom? Well... Jackson believes that's a team activity too. This all means one thing: Once Jackson bonds with you- you've got the most loyal best friend for life. 💙ENERGY AND PERSONALITY💙 Jackson is everything people love about big dogs— equal parts sweetheart and goofball! He will make you laugh with his oversized puppy antics and his determination to convince you that he is lap-dog sized. He adores meeting new people, listens well, and has a happy-go-lucky outlook on life that makes everyone fall in love with him. Jackson also loves toys, bones, car rides, naps in his humans bed, and is 100% convinced that every snack in your hand was probably meant for him. (Honestly...he makes a really compelling argument.) Jackson has a medium/balanced energy level and is happy to lounge around OR go on an adventure. He doesn't care where you're going- he's just so grateful he gets to go with you! 💙SOCIAL LIFE💙 Jackson is known to quickly wins hearts whereever he goes. He gets along very well with other dogs, though his play style is best described as "VERY enthusiastic." He'd love a larger canine friend who enjoys roughhousing as much as he does or one who doesn't mind his goofy antics. He'd also be perfectly happy soaking up all of your attention as an only dog. 💙IDEAL HOME ENVIRONMENT💙 Like many rescue dogs, Jackson is still learning that being alone isn't so scary and that his humans will always be back for him. He would do best in a home where someone is home often, or where they can make arrangements for him to spend the day with someone while they are at work (i.e: doggie daycare, hanging out with a family member/friend/sitter, etc.) After spending so much of his life without a family of his own, Jackson's hoping for a home that understands he's still healing from his rough start, will be patient as he continues to build confidence, and won't mind having a devoted sidekick who thinks life is better together. Jackson has brought so much joy to his foster home, so we know he will bring a ton of joy to your home too! At the end of the day, Jackson is just a big sweet softie that has waited far too long for a furever family that shows him endless love and safety. Jackson has spent long enough wondering when it will finally be his turn. If you're looking for a dog who will love you with his whole entire heart every single day for the rest of his life... Jackson has been waiting his whole life for you. 💙INCLUDED VETERINARY CARE💙 Jackson is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, and receiving heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives along with routine parasite treatments and yearly routine heartworm/lyme testing.

Story
Gus has been with us since he was 5 weeks old and he just celebrated his 5th birthday. He loves to lounge and lay in the sunshine and chew on dog bones. Gus truly loves being outside and would thrive somewhere he can lounge and bask in the sun. He recently has not been getting along with our other dog or our cats. Even though he has never gone after our kids I don’t think it would be best for him to go to a home with children. Gus will thrive in a home as a solo pet and maybe older kids/young adults. He has never gone after myself or my husband but he has definitely tried to show dominance to my husband as he sees me as his master. He’s a big lover. Responds to Gus Gus and Bubba Bear the best and he is well trained to sit, waiting to eat and walking on a leash. He isn’t allowed on the couch but that doesn’t stop him from trying. He usually sleeps on a dog bed in our room or on the foot of the bed at my feet. He is crate trained as well. He will come with his leash and harness.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us! Falcon is going to be an incredible, devoted companion, but he possesses a strong, alpha-leaning personality. He is not a match for first-time dog owners. He will thrive in a home with:An experienced dog owner who understands pack leadership.Someone committed to early, structured socialization and obedience training.A household that provides clear, consistent boundaries using positive reinforcement. An active lifestyle with plenty of physical exercise and mental stimulation. If you have the experience to guide a confident pup into becoming the ultimate, well-behaved protector and loyal best friend, he will give you a lifetime of devotion.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not. A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop! Story
Hi, I’m Quira! I’m a sweet, easygoing girl who has been showing everyone just how wonderful I am in a home! I’m a professional snuggler with an adorable wiggle butt, and I love scratches, belly rubs, and resting my head in my foster’s lap while they work. I’m also crate trained, settle nicely in the house, love playing with my toys, and am always up for a good walk before relaxing with my person afterward. I’ve done great meeting new people, although I can get a little too excited and reactive when I see cyclists or people while we’re out walking. The good news is I’m already making great progress with redirection and positive reinforcement! I’d love a family who will continue helping me work on my leash skills and give me plenty of opportunities to walk, play, and explore. A fenced yard would be a great bonus, but more than anything, I’m looking for someone who appreciates a sweet, affectionate girl who knows how to have fun and relax when the day is done! 3159 Susquehanna Trail N York PA 17406 Kennel #3537

Story
Hi, I’m Diamond! I’m an 11-month-old girl who had a pretty rough start and was unfortunately left behind when my previous family moved away. Despite everything, I am an incredibly sweet, happy, and playful puppy! I can be a little hesitant at first, but it doesn’t take long before my bouncy, affectionate personality comes out. I love being around people, coming over for attention, and playing whenever I get the chance. I can be a little jumpy when I’m excited, but I’m still young and just need a family willing to help me learn some manners and continue showing me what being a loved family dog is all about. I’ve already shown everyone here just how loving and resilient I am, and I’m ready for a fresh start with people who won’t leave me behind. 3159 Susquehanna Trail N York PA 17406 Kennel #3537

Story
Hi, I’m Elphaba! I’m a young, happy girl who is basically a bundle of joy mixed with a whole lot of puppy energy! I absolutely love people and am always ready for attention, playtime, and whatever fun might be happening around me. I already know sit, I’m a smart girl who responds well to redirection, and when I’m focused I can walk really nicely on leash—but sometimes my puppy brain takes over and I’m suddenly zigzagging off to investigate something exciting! I can be jumpy when I’m desperate for your attention and I’m still learning that not everything I find needs to go in my mouth, so I’ll need a family ready for all the normal training and supervision that comes with a young dog. I’ve also seemed excited and interested when seeing other dogs here. I’m silly, affectionate, playful, and still figuring out how to contain all my enthusiasm for life. If you’re looking for a fun young dog to love, train, and grow with, I might just be your girl! 3159 Susquehanna Trail N York PA 17406 Kennel #3537
