Story
This very good boy is Diddy! He originally came to the shelter as a stray when he was still a puppy, and then we thought he had found his furever home but he recently came back as a stray and we were ghosted by his adopter. We were surprised because Diddy is such a sweet soul and we can`t imagine why anyone would just forget him like that. Diddy has matured since his first time in our care, but he still has his silly puppy quirks and playfulness. He is looking for a home where any children are 3 and older since he can be excitable and doesn`t know his own size. He is open to possibly living with another dog and/or cat with proper introduction as well. Diddy deserves a permanent home where he will be loved for the wonderful and loyal companion he is. --If you are interested in adopting, please come prepared - bring a photo ID, proof of address, and everyone in the home including resident dogs with vaccination history. Story
Say hi to Sadie! This lovely pup is looking for a new lease on life after spending much of her formative years crated and isolated. She is undersocialized and still learning to trust people, but she has a kind spirit and truly yearns for love and companionship. Since she can be timid with new people and in novel situations, she asks that any kids in the home be 8 and older. She does not have much experience with other dogs, but she is very curious and willing to try making friends with proper introduction. Sadie deserves some independence with the stability of a family to call her own. She has so much potential to be a loyal friend. If you are interested in adopting, please come prepared - bring a photo ID, proof of address, and everyone in the home including resident dogs with vaccination history. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us! Fancy is a sweet, social girl who absolutely adores people and thrives on attention. She has a gentle, loving personality and truly enjoys being part of the action — whether that’s soaking up affection from her humans or playing alongside her canine friends. Fancy would do best in a home with a securely fenced yard where she can safely run, explore, and enjoy the outdoors. She also needs another friendly dog in her forever home, as she blossoms with companionship and feels most confident with a furry buddy by her side. If you’re looking for a loving addition who will bring joy, loyalty, and tail wags into your life, Fancy is ready to find her perfect match. :) REQUIREMENTS: Fenced Yard, Another fur friendVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not. A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop! Story
Meet Maurice: Maurice is a 3 year old (as of 2026) pit / lab mix (best guess) that weighs around 60 pounds. Maurice is timid but sweet. He likes giving kisses, belly rubs, and getting attention from his person. He loves being outside and exploring. A fenced-in yard or someone looking for a walking buddy would be ideal for Maurice as he loves to run and go for walks. He is great in the car, crate and house-trained, and will entertain himself with chew bones. Maurice is currently in a foster home in the Leesport, PA area. He gets along with other dogs and has been fine around cats. Maurice is uncomfortable around men and would need to have a woman as his primary person. We would love for Maurice to have a home with a fenced in yard for him to run and play! Maurice is up to date on his shots and neutered. If you are interested in adopting this sweetie, please go to Charlie’s Crusaders website (www.charliescrusaders.org) to fill out an application. Little Girl is great with other dogs, cats and all people. Little Girl loves playing with her toys or getting belly rubs. Little Girl is crate trained and doing great with her potty training. Story
Meet Penny: Penny is about a 2 year old (as of November 2023) pit bull terrier mix (best guess) that weighs 48 pounds. Penny was a lucky one that was rescued from a southern high kill shelter after she was scheduled for euthanasia. Once in the foster’s home it was discovered that she was pregnant; Penny gave birth to 3 live puppies and remaining 6 were still born. She has been a wonderfully sweet mama and we want to find her and her pups the best forever homes! Penny is currently being fostered in the south and would love to take the freedom ride north to Pennsylvania to meet more prospective families. Penny is a very sweet, active young lady and will need a family that likes to be active as well. Penny is a very playful girl who is constantly getting the zoomies. She is very athletic and would excel at sports! Penny is shy at first but will warm up quickly once bribed with treats and given time to get to know you. (She loves “Fromm Crunchy O’s” treats!) Penny is dog friendly if properly & slowly introduced. She prefers the company of submissive dogs her size or larger. She will need an experienced home because she will resource guard her food, treats & toys, so we don’t recommend small children for her. Penny has stunning blue eyes and a zest for life! Penny’s house training status is currently being assessed. Penny will need a home with a fenced in yard for her to play safely and get all of her zoomies out. Penny is up to date on her shots and spayed. If you are interested in adopting this active mama, please go to Charlie’s Crusaders website (www.charliescrusaders.org) to fill out an application.
