Story
Meet Raya: Raya is about a 2 year old (as of August 2026) boxer mix that weighs 40 pounds. Raya was surrendered to a high kill shelter with her litter of 7 puppies when we were able to rescue them from there. Raya is currently being fostered in the Mountville, PA area and would love to meet her forever family. Raya is a very, very sweet girl! She's very friendly and loves to meet new people. She loves playing with toys or chomping on chew bones, and is food motivated. Raya just loves attention and affection from anyone willing to give it to her. She would thrive best in a home with another dog. Raya loves to play with and snuggle the resident dog in her foster home.   Raya is very much a shadow dog that loves to be wherever her humans are. She spends her days curled up against her foster mama on the couch and playing with her foster fur sister. Raya loves being pet and will paw for more. Raya is both crate trained and house trained. Raya walks well on a leash and would be a great walking buddy. She also does well in the car. She will happily sleep overnight in her crate but also makes the best bed buddy! Raya is up to date on her shots and is spayed. If you are interested in a sweet lady, please go to Charlie’s Crusaders website (www.charliescrusaders.org) to fill out an application. Story
Meet Tony: Tony aka Rocky is an active 6 month old (as of September 5, 2026) boxer / hound mix (best guess) that weighs about 28 pounds. Tony aka Rocky is being fostered in the Lancaster, PA area. He is playful, affectionate, and VERY food-motivated.  Rocky’s favorite activities are wrestling with his foster sister, being chased by her in the back yard, and chewing on toys, the harder the better.  Rocky also enjoys long walks, watching the world go by from a windows seat or fenced-in yard, and snuggling with people and dogs that he knows. Despite his tough-sounding name, Rocky can be a little timid in new situations.  He looks to the other dogs in his foster home for guidance on how to react.  In familiar surroundings, his exuberance and personality shine through, but he’s not one to jump into the arms of a stranger. His foster parents are working on exposing Rocky to new situations to build up his confidence.  Once his trust is earned, he leans into hugs and gives kisses generously.  Tony aka Rocky gets along with other dogs and would benefit from having another playful dog to help him burn off energy, keep him entertained, and teach him the household routine.  He runs to the car and readily jumps in once he realizes he’s about to go for a ride. Rocky knows the command “house”, runs to his crate for food, and sometimes goes there on his own to rest.  Tony aka Rocky was part of a litter that (Zoc, Rix, Tony, Scarlett, Gus, Alvin and Vixen) was rescued with their mom (Raya) after they were surrendered to a high kill shelter. We are thankful that we have been able to have them grow up in foster care as opposed to the loud shelter life. Tony was good with both other dogs and cats when he was fostered in the south. Tony is crate trained. As a puppy, Tony will need some patience while he works on his house training. We would love for Tony to have a home with a fenced in yard for him to run and play freely. Tony is up to date on his puppy shots and will need to be neutered when age appropriate. If you are interested in giving this sweetie lots of love and a great life, please go to Charlie’s Crusaders website (www.charliescrusaders.org) to fill out an application. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us! Falcon is going to be an incredible, devoted companion, but he possesses a strong, alpha-leaning personality. He is not a match for first-time dog owners. He will thrive in a home with:An experienced dog owner who understands pack leadership.Someone committed to early, structured socialization and obedience training.A household that provides clear, consistent boundaries using positive reinforcement. An active lifestyle with plenty of physical exercise and mental stimulation. If you have the experience to guide a confident pup into becoming the ultimate, well-behaved protector and loyal best friend, he will give you a lifetime of devotion.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not. A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop! Story
Meet Draco: Draco is about a 4 year old (as of May 2026) pit / lab mix (best guess) that weighs about 45 pounds. Draco was found in an abandoned apartment in Memphis where the owners moved off and left him behind. Someone called one of our rescuers and luckily she was able to go get him. Draco is currently being fostered in the south and would love to take the freedom ride north to Pennsylvania to meet more prospective families.  Draco is a very friendly, gentle and sweet boy. We are confused on how someone could leave him behind. Draco loves people and loves to be petted and snuggled. He likes to talk to you and wants to be your shadow! Draco has been good with both other dogs and the resident cats. Draco walks well on his leash and is both crate and house trained.  Draco is looking for a person or family that can take it easy with him, as he is on hip and joint medication due to a previous knee injury. He does limp on his back leg every so often.  We would love for Draco to have a home with a fenced in yard so he can run and play freely. Draco is up to date on his shots and is neutered. Draco has lots of love to give to a family. If you are interested in adding this gem into your life, please go to Charlie’s Crusaders website (www.charliescrusaders.org) to fill out an application. Story
Meet Penny: Penny is about a 2 year old (as of November 2023) pit bull terrier mix (best guess) that weighs 48 pounds. Penny was a lucky one that was rescued from a southern high kill shelter after she was scheduled for euthanasia. Once in the foster’s home it was discovered that she was pregnant; Penny gave birth to 3 live puppies and remaining 6 were still born. She has been a wonderfully sweet mama and we want to find her and her pups the best forever homes! Penny is currently being fostered in the south and would love to take the freedom ride north to Pennsylvania to meet more prospective families. Penny is a very sweet, active young lady and will need a family that likes to be active as well. Penny is a very playful girl who is constantly getting the zoomies. She is very athletic and would excel at sports! Penny is shy at first but will warm up quickly once bribed with treats and given time to get to know you. (She loves “Fromm Crunchy O’s” treats!) Penny is dog friendly if properly & slowly introduced. She prefers the company of submissive dogs her size or larger. She will need an experienced home because she will resource guard her food, treats & toys, so we don’t recommend small children for her. Penny has stunning blue eyes and a zest for life! Penny’s house training status is currently being assessed. Penny will need a home with a fenced in yard for her to play safely and get all of her zoomies out. Penny is up to date on her shots and spayed. If you are interested in adopting this active mama, please go to Charlie’s Crusaders website (www.charliescrusaders.org) to fill out an application.
