200 days. This sweet guy sat in the shelter for 200 days, waiting for a home. The shelter saw what a good dog Chester was and gave him multiple extensions. He remained sweet, calm, and resilient through his shelter time. The shelter was right, Chester is the sweetest boy. He is loyal, calm, kind, and always down for a belly rub. Good luck petting him and not having him roll over for a good belly scratch! Chester was heartworm positive and underwent heartworm treatment in mid May. Once again, Chester won the vet over during his treatment and they immediately loved him! He rolled over for their belly scratches and did what Chester does best-love on people. Chester is a 75 pound boxer mix. He is approximately 1.5 years old. He is not cat friendly but great with other dogs. He is friendly to guests that come to his foster’s house and does not bark much. He is crate trained and potty trained. Chester knows sit and stay. Some would say he knows roll over, but that is just to get a belly scratch and not on command! Chester is friendly to children. He is not food aggressive and you can touch his bowl while eating. Chester loves a tennis ball and can play by himself with a tennis ball for 30 minutes easily. He has devised a system where he presses on the ball with his foot to make it pop up so he can chase it. And he does this on repeat! Chester loves a walk, but does believe he will melt in the rain. He loves to follow his foster around the house and is very curious about they are doing. If you are looking for a dog that will love with you his whole heart and be a companion, Chester is for you! As of early May, Chester is currently undergoing heartworm treatment and is handling treatment well. His owner dropped him off in a park and drove away. He was living on the streets of a neighborhood in town for almost two months. It started to get very hot and no one could take him in so my husband and I took him in. We got his rabies done, microchipped and he was fixed. We’ve had him for about 1.5 months now. Fantastic with kids and other animals. He just has a lot of energy because he’s only about 1.5 years old and loves to run around. I believe he has some separation anxiety because he’s typically glued to me and scared of loud noises. I know he was abused before. We know this due to us having a deaf dog that only knows sign language. One day I was signing to him and this dog thought I was going to hit him when I lifted my arm up and he went running and was screaming/crying. He’s such a love bug and needs a good home where he can get his energy out and be loved. We would love to keep him but we have enough animals of our own and will be moving soon!

Ozzy is a sweet, 5(ish) year old pittie with a lot of love and energy to give! We’ve had him since September of 2021, and he’s been the absolutely joy of our household. We are relocating and are unable to take him with us, but are invested in finding someone who can give him all of the love and care he deserves! Ozzy went through an intensive off-leash training course in 2022, and as part of his adoption we would love to help cover any costs associated with his new family doing a couple of sessions with his trainer to make sure you know his commands, quirks, etc. Ozzy is a lot of fun, and an absolute sweetheart, but can need some time to warm up to new people or other dogs. He is best with dogs who are very relaxed and won’t mind that he is intense in his play. He would be best suited as the only dog in the home. While he’s good with other dogs in small doses, and does well when boarded with his trainer, he has never lived with another dog. Ozzy does NOT like cats.
