Story
We call Desperado, King Desperado for a good reason. He fiercely protects and defends his foster dad and his domain there in the foster home.  You see Desperado lost his owner to bad times and bad things that his owner decided to do.  5 months ago his owner ended up behind bars and so did King Desperado and his brother end up behind the bars in a small town rural shelter. His brother fell ill in the shelter and passed away.  Miraculously Desperado was spared and there he stayed and languished with no one visiting the shelter to adopt many of the dogs there.  Just at Christmas the shelter was cleaning house.  Taking all the dogs that had been there for a while and putting them on the euthanize list.  Desperado was on the list but Critter Cavalry Rescue had fosters who stepped up to take him out of the shelter and literally save his life.  Desperado is a work in progress but here are some fun facts about him that foster Joshua says you really need to know about this great 2 year old boy dog that weighs 65 pounds. 1: He will kennel with no complaints when you need to leave the house or go to bed, tho he much prefers to occupy the same space as you in bed as opposed to being kenneled. 2: He does not know what personal space is, his favorite thing in the world is giving kisses and snuggling his people. 3: He has med/high energy, but is also very much a couch potato. 4: He plays like a boxer and walks like a hound. We are working on leash etiquette. 5: He is dog reactive on leash, but we have not tested him with other dogs free in the yard. 6: We are working with a trainer to try and curb this reactivity, as well as some basic obedience. 7: A 4 ft fence will keep him contained, and is highly recommended. He will bolt if he gets on an interesting scent. 8: He has liked every human he has met both big and small, tho he may be a bit excitable near little kids, I'd say 8+ is good to go. 9: 100% house broken, and easily learned the bathroom routine in my house. 10: He is EXTREMELY food motivated. 11: He is a bit jumpy but is gentle about it.  It probably comes from spending 5 months in a shelter and not having his confidence built up in his life.  All this can and will change. His foster dad knows that Desperado is going to be an amazing dog with just a little more work and stability in his life.  He only got out of the shelter just before Christmas and boy was that a gift to him!  His foster dad has him in training for the leash reactions which many dogs have.  He adores people…he loves life and you will love Desperado and his devotion to YOU and your family!  We request that you have a fenced yard if you adopt.  Please email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com  mention where you live please…city and state. We transport all over!!! PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.May 31, 2023, 8:59 am

Story
My name is Momma Abby but you can call me QUEEN ABBY.   I am a recent momma dog that gave birth to six beautiful puppies on Thanksgiving of 2022, November 24th to be exact.  I came from a sad overcrowding situation at a home that would be considered hoarding.  I gave birth in a clean home and my babies are being adopted to great new families right now.  I was a great momma to my babies and I live with a single woman who just adores me and I adore her.   I am housebroken and I have learned how to live very well with her other 4 dogs, big and small.  I am crated when she is gone and I look forward to her returning to give me attention after her work day.  I am truly on my way to getting my figure back.  I am mostly a Boxer breed and I came from the Memphis Tennessee area and am in a foster home in Nashville, Tn right now.  I am very sweet and enjoy people but I will protect and guard my foster mom’s home if I think someone is a danger to my foster mom.  I love the new life that is ahead for me.  I am currently guessed to be 2 years old and weigh 48 pounds. I am being spayed on March 14th and then I will be absolutely your girl forever and every again.  Contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you are interested in giving me the home that I have always dreamed about. PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMay 31, 2023, 8:59 am

Story
Deja is a really great girl that found herself in a very bad situation. When she was turned in to the local kill shelter, we knew we had to step up and save this sweet girl. When the girls like Deja get admitted to an already crowded small town kill shelter, it takes a miracle from God to save their life.  Well Deja got that miracle and as a young Bulldog/Boxer/Lab mix around 2 years old, this girl is going to really bring some sunshine to their life.  This dog is a true athlete and is a very fit and strong girl of 54 lbs. All Deja wants in life is to please you and spread her happy attitude and personality with everyone she meets.  She would be the perfectcompanion for an active person that enjoys hiking, running or just being outside. She loves her toys, almost too much, so you can only give her those indestructible Tuff and durable toys.  At her foster place she loves to spend her days playing outside or just lounging in the sunshine with her current best friend. Deja is fully vetted and ready to find her new home. Her best friend is Polar. (FYI - her current best friend is also available for adoption! We could certainly make a DEAL for a double adoption).  Contact us at ccrtennessee@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMay 31, 2023, 8:59 am

ATTENTION BOXER LOVERS!!  Meet Benjamin (Benny).  This fabulous almost 2 year old boxer now weighs 50 lbs.  When he came to Critter Cavalry he only weighed 34 lbs.  Someone had not been feeding him.  Benny still needs to gain a few lbs but he already looks so much better.  Good food has definitely helped.  Benny is 100% young boxer.  He is full of energy and loves to play.  Benny loves people and does not meet a stranger.  He is great with children too but small children might be too much for Benny as he might knock them over.  Benny forgets that he is a big boy.  He is also strong and digs those back legs in (typical boxer) when he walks on a leash.  His foster mom is working on that and Benny is getting better at not pulling.  He loves his foster brother Tigs (another big boy) but does sometimes get over stimulated in a pack environment.  He is probably not the best candidate for the dog park or doggie day care.  Benny needs an active family that will make sure he gets the exercise he needs.  A fenced in yard is also a must for this boy.  Benny needs to burn off his energy more than one a day.  He is a smart boy and catches on quickly.  Benny is housebroken and OK in a crate.  He is a counter surfer so no food needs to be left out not only on the counter but on the table.  Another reason for no small children.  Benny doesn't need to eat their lunch or snacks!!!  Benny has been neutered and is current on all his shots and microchipped.  To be considered for his forever family please contact Vivienne directly at viviennejames@comcast.net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Benny is actually in Tennessee but can be transported north upon adoption.)May 31, 2023, 8:59 am

Story
My wife and I are moving overseas and are unable to take our dog, Scooby, with us. Here’s a little bit about Scooby: - He's 7.5 years old, trained, neutered & up-to-date with all of his vaccines - He's a mix of hound, boxer and shepherd (so basically a very healthy DNA mix, rarely gets sick) - He's amazing with kids and other dogs/puppies (but dislikes cats) - His favorite hobbies are playing catch, going on walks and tracking lizards in the back yard. - He's so calm at home that you might forget he's even there… especially if you work from home. - He’s very content by himself if you need to be in the office during the work week. - He loves to cuddle and press his weight on you when you pet him We're really sad to let him go. We just know the consistent long travel would not be great for him. That said, we'd be so happy for him if he found a loving new home.

Story
Boys just want to play, play, play. I am a 3 month old male boxer mix. I was a stray and ended up at the shelter. I am a big love bug and want to be with my human. I am loving playing with other dogs but they often do not like to me in their space. When that happens I go about my business. I want to please the humans and will be a quick learner when it comes to manners. I am going to need a fenced in yard to play around in. I would like to have a canine friend but if my human is active and wants to play I will be okay. Because I am young, I will need to work on training including housebreaking. I am doing well in a crate when I need to be but again I want to be next to my human. I am learning to play with toys and liking the toys. I am hoping I will find someone that will love me and play with me. I will need a lot os pets and treats. If this is your home fill out an application and someone will be in touch with you. If interested in giving Odie a forever home, please complete an application at www.safeanimalhaven.com.May 22, 2023, 12:20 am

Hey hey, my girl lola is the best dog ever, we are so sad to see her go. We've had lola since she was 6 wks old, now about 11 years. She has been the sibling my son never had. She is well loved, very human like. She still has a playful puppy attitude, but is calm, and loves to lounge/ cuddle. After almost 12 year, i had another baby. My son is very rough with her, i now am having a hard time giving her the love and attention she needs. She needs to be loved, walked, and the attention she deserves. She has never shown aggressive behavior to anyone, biten anyone, or anything of thar manor. Please give my girl a chance, thank you.

Quartz was returned to the shelter for no fault of his own. They said he was 'too much work." Well, puppies are work, as you probably already know. He's five months old, so he's curious and energetic. He needs an understanding, reliable person or family to take him in and offer him stability and consistency. He is handsome, loving and happy! He's a healthy boy and expected to be large in size. He's already 50lbs or so. Please fill out the online application at www.pawsitivelypamperedpets.com under the rescues tab. Please be sure to include two non-family references and a vet reference. Indicate Quartz's name in the appropriate section. The adoption fee is $225. We do a meet and greet, call references and do a quick house visit to make sure that the home is a safe environment for the dog/puppy.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Axle, a young dog with an old soul.    Axle is a loving companion and is truly grateful for kindness. He did not have the best start to his life and has plenty of scars to show for it.  He wants to cuddle and just be close to his people. If he could choose, he would be a total couch potato. He is very smart, house and crate trained. Axle loves to take in all the sights and smells outdoors, so a fenced in yard would be ideal.  Axle is also great with kids and other   dogs.    Fill out an application to meet this chonky, sweet boy today!    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. If you are interested in giving this pet a "Furever Home" please complete a Canine or Feline Adoption Application. Make sure the application is completed in its entirety because i ncomplete applications will not be reviewed.  Due to limited volunteers, we may only contact approve applicants. There are various reasons you may not be contacted- 1) T he dog/cat you applied for is very popular and has received a lot of applications, 2)  There are approved applicants, and we are working on scheduling meet and greets, 3) Unfortunately w e don't think you and the dog or cat are the best match. Please know that in no way does this mean that we think you are a bad pet parent.  Submitting an application does not mean you are committing to a dog or cat, nor does it guarantee you will be approved to adopt.  We have the right to deny or refuse any applicant if in our judgement the pets needs will not be met, or the home environment is not compatible with the needs.  We reserve the right to perform in-home visits at our discretion. Very sweet 2 year old boxer mix. She is eager to please and loves to play tug of war. She is fully potty trained and loves people! I adopted her a year and a half ago and she has been in a very loving home. Unfortunately, I no longer live in a house where she has a backyard to play in and my work schedule has made it difficult to get in enough exercise. I ask that anyone applying live in a house with a fenced in yard. She loves to play with other dogs and adores people. She knows basic tricks and loves learning new ones.

Once your application has been submitted, our Adoptions Team will be in contact shortly to set up a phone interview and a home visit. Funny, happy, expressive and comical, meet Mila! This happy weirdo is 7-8 years old, and a little imp of a thing at 35-40 lbs. She's silly and bouncy, but not wild, more like moderate energy with a tendency to popcorn when she's excited. Mila has a terrible poker face, if she's thinking it, you're going to know it immediately, she makes the best faces. Mila gets along great with non-confrontational boyfriends, but has no use for bossy or rude girls. Cats? Not a chance, she's waaaay too interested in kitty. Her funny little terrier personality has plenty of goofy quirks to keep you laughing, and she bonds super close to her human, so expect an audience for whatever you happen to be doing. Looking for a goofy, comical little sprite to brighten your days? Mila may just be the one! Apply to adopt Mila at southofthebully.comOur adoption fee is $300. Story
To begin the adoption process, please fill out the SOTB Adoption Application completely. Once your application has been submitted, our Adoptions Team will be in contact shortly to set up a phone interview and a home visit. Captain Tail Blur!! Squiggy is a comical, ridiculous little dog who came to us after a dog fight bust. He's around 4 years of age and has been hanging out as a sort of sanctuary dog for a few years, but he's grown so much in that time that he'd do just fine in a home with people of his own. Squiggs is a little guy, maybe 40lbs, with goofy energy and the sweetest demeanor. He absolutely loves people and loves fun, and he's gotten so very close to making dog friends, but he's just too afraid of being attacked again and can't quite get there. It's such a shame what people call a sport, and this little guy had to pay the price of evil peoples' entertainment, he so deserved better.  So what's life with a former fighting dog like? Well, to be fair, he wasn't so much of a fighting dog as a target of other dogs. He's s little guy, and he's a happy guy, he visits with other dogs through barriers and play bows, he looks for all the world like a guy who is dying to play with other dogs, you'd never know by watching him what he's been through. Generally he's just a dog, he has no vices, he's super food motivated and loves to train. He'd absolutely adore finding a human who would trick train him and help him learn to binge watch Netflix. There's actually no management needed within the home, just crate and rotate if family comes with visiting dogs, he's totally fine with that life.  These guys are always hard to find a home for, not because they're anything other than a dog, but because media has scared people into thinking they're monsters. If you met Squiggy and someone called him a monster, you'd totally crack up, he's so not scary at all. Even with the cropped ears and black coat, he's just such a little goofball. Squiggy would love a fenced yard and a person to call his own. He'll follow you around the house and help you with all the things, then he'll flop down on his bed and chew his bones or hop up onto the sofa for a solid cuddle. He's a good little dog who deserves a human of his own, foster or adopter, either is fine. Ready to make a difference in the life of a dog who had a truly horrific start? Squiggy can't wait to hear from you! Visit southofthebully.com and fill out an application today. Our adoption fee is $300. Story
Hello World!  I have a story to tell and my name is connected to my life story that almost ended in my death.  You see my name River is a name with a meaning as to how I came in to the rescue.  When you hear this story I hope that you will never forget the miracle that my living and surviving the heartless act of a human who once owned me.  About 2 years ago it seems that my owners couldn’t take care of me anymore and they must have been too embarrassed to turn me into a local shelter.  What they did instead was take me down to the river  close to one of the boat docks and they tied me to a tree and left me there.  Unfortunately it was a time of year where not many people were coming to spend time on the river, so I waited. I waited a very long time and all I could access was the water and there was never any food. I was so hungry, cold and wet staying there on that chain.  I waited and waited with no shelter and no food.  When I was about to give up and die, this kind man discovered me there and untied my chain and put me in his truck. I was so weak and hungry I can barely remember the ride. Next thing I knew I was being carried into this really nice place and everyone was petting me and talking to me, telling me not to give up. There was food and fresh water every day. I got to go outside to a big playground and run!  They took great care of me and I was happy for once.  I was safe. Turns out I was heart worm positive and they took  care of that too and treated me and now I am free of heart worms.  Gosh they fixed me up just right and I am fully vetted and even have a microchip! A lot has happened in my short life.  I was two when I arrived but now I am about 4 years old and weigh 65 pounds. I have been in this wonderful place that is kind of remote in Alabama.  Critter Cavalry Rescue has offered to get me some extra special exposure to the world and to introduce me to people that might recognize how special that I truly am.  I try so hard to be a good girl. I know how to sit and be still for treats and be gentle when they give me my food. Yes...I am a Pitbull mix and that seems to get in the way of people considering me.  I really don't know why but it does.  I have the most special spirit but for some reason I really don’t like to be around other dogs and that kind of stops some people from taking me.  I guess I will never forget being so hungry and I feel like other dogs might want to take my food.  I just want a home where I can be the only girl that will lavish all my love on the family or person.   Lots of people are afraid of dogs like me because I am Pitbull mix.  But I am super sweet and will give you tons of kisses if you will just give me a chance.  PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.   Sorry, we cannot adopt to MA residents.May 31, 2023, 8:59 am
