Story
Hi, I’m Marena and I’m ready to find my forever home!  Dog’s Name: Marena Location:  Chicago, IL Date of Birth: 06/06/2025 Gender: Female Breed: Cane Corso Color: Brindle Dog's Weight: 93   Marena is a truly sweet, gentle Cane Corso who just needs a little extra help learning that the world is a safe place. She is incredibly loving at her core, but right now everything feels big and overwhelming to her. New sounds, unfamiliar environments, and sudden movements can startle her easily. On walks, she may need quite a bit of time to feel comfortable enough to go to the bathroom, and when she’s scared, she can shake and try to retreat. This isn’t a dog with any aggression - just a very sensitive girl who hasn’t fully learned to trust her surroundings yet. Her foster is doing exactly what Marena needs: going slow, giving her space, and letting her approach people on her own terms. When guests come over, she does best when they ignore her at first and allow her to build confidence and curiosity before engaging. With time and patience, she does start to come around. One of the biggest things that may help Marena is being around other dogs. She’s shown signs that being part of a “pack” could help her build confidence and learn by example. A calm, confident dog companion in the home would likely be a huge benefit for her. Marena has also shown she can be trusted in the home -  she has not been destructive or prone to chewing. However, when placed in a confined or stressful situation (like being shut in a small room), she has panicked. Because of this, crate training will need to be approached slowly and thoughtfully, ensuring she feels safe and not trapped. Her ideal home will be calm, patient, and understanding. She needs someone who will meet her where she is, give her time to decompress, and gently encourage her to build confidence at her own pace. Structure, routine, and positive reinforcement will go a long way with her. Marena is not a quick, easy dog - but she is a deeply rewarding one. For the right adopter, watching her gain confidence, trust, and joy in everyday life will be something truly special. She just needs someone willing to show her, step by step, that she’s safe.    Until the profile is removed from the public’s view, this dog is considered available for adoption. Dog’s Name: Eloise Location: Oswego, Il Date of Birth: 02/21/2018 Gender: Female Breed: Cane Corso Color: Blue Brindle Dog's Weight: 100 Gets along with: Dogs?: Yes, large and medium only.  NO SMALL DOGS! Cats?: No Kids?: Yes Training: Leash Trained - walks loose leash Crate Trained - goes to crate/kennel on command Potty Trained - indicates need to potty and doesn't have indoor accidents Car - Rides well in the car Meet Eloise Miss Eloise may be a golden girl, but don’t let that fool you—she has plenty of personality! As she has decompressed and settled into her foster home, her spunky and lovable side has really started to shine. While she may be a little slow to get moving at times, Eloise knows exactly what she wants… and she isn’t shy about letting you know! Eloise believes she deserves the royal treatment and will happily remind you when it’s time for attention. If you sit down, she takes that as her official invitation for ear scratches and affection. In fact, if you’re holding something in your hands, she may gently nudge it out of the way so you can focus on the important task at hand—loving her. Eloise is happiest when she can relax near her people, soak up affection, and enjoy the simple pleasures of life. She would do well in many types of homes, including families with children or adults of any age who are looking for a loving and loyal companion. If you’re searching for a sweet, slightly sassy queen who will keep you smiling and ensure you never forget to give enough ear scratches, Eloise is ready to claim her throne in your heart and home. Story
Hi, I’m Rafferty. I am ready to find my forever home! Dog’s Name: Rafferty Location: Green Bay, WI Date of Birth: 06/01/2025 Gender: Male Breed: Cane Corso Mix Color: Brindle Dog's Weight: 104 Gets along with: Dogs?: All Dogs  Cats?: No Kids?: Older kids or giant breed experienced younger kids Training: Crate/Kennel:  Goes into crate/kennel with a treat as an incentive Potty trained: Indicates a need to potty and doesn’t have indoor accidents Car: Doesn't like getting in the car, but rides well once in. Meet Rafferty! Rafferty is a sweet, loving pup who is full of personality and ready to bring joy to his forever home. He loves being around his people, whether he’s playing outside, gazing out the window, or soaking up attention. Rafferty is affectionate and social, and he has done very well meeting new people—always ready to share some happy licks! He does well in his crate and goes in without a fuss, though he will need a heavy-duty crate as he has figured out how to escape in the past. He may whine briefly but typically settles in nicely. Rafferty is still working on his leash skills, as he tends to get excited and a bit all over the place during walks. As a strong, growing pup, he doesn’t always realize his size, so continued training will be important. Like many puppies, Rafferty can get a little mouthy and may paw at you when excited, but he redirects very easily with toys and guidance. He is eager to learn and would thrive with consistent structure, training, and ongoing socialization to help him grow into a well-mannered adult. Rafferty would do best in a home with older children or kids who have experience with large breeds, as his size and enthusiasm can be a bit much for little ones. He does not require another dog but would do fine with one. A fenced yard is recommended to help him safely burn off energy and manage his curiosity about the world around him. Rafferty is a fun-loving, affectionate pup who just needs the right guidance and commitment to help him reach his full potential. In return, he’ll give you endless love, laughter, and a loyal companion for life. Until the profile is removed from the public’s view, this dog is considered available for adoption. Hi, I’m Periwinkle and I’m ready to find my forever home!  Dog’s Name: Periwinkle Location: Chicago, IL Date of Birth: 02/01/2023 Gender: Female Breed: Cane Corso Color: Fawn Dog's Weight: 76 Gets along with: Dogs?: Yes - with a slow introduction and no food present Cats?:  All cats Kids?: All kids Training: Leash trained: Walks loose leash Crate Trained: Goes to crate/kennel on command Potty trained: Indicates a need to potty and doesn’t have indoor accidents Car:  Rides well in car Meet Periwinkle Periwinkle is a sensitive, loving girl who forms deep bonds with her people and thrives on connection and reassurance. While she can be anxious when left alone, especially in a crate, her true personality shines when she’s with her humans—affectionate, attentive, and eager to please. She leans in for scratches, gazes into your eyes for guidance, and is constantly looking to her person for direction and approval. Her devotion is truly special. Periwinkle loves meeting new people and is friendly with strangers, but she can be more selective with other dogs. She does best with slow, thoughtful introductions, especially without food present, and she is not a fan of encountering other dogs while on walks. Because of this, she would be happiest in a home where she can be the main focus or with very carefully managed canine interactions. Her ideal home would be with an experienced giant breed owner who understands how to support a dog with anxiety and can provide structure, patience, and consistency. She does not require a fenced yard, but she does need a family committed to helping her feel safe and secure. A home with older children is recommended due to her size and sensitivity. Periwinkle will flourish with someone who can be her steady anchor—offering guidance, companionship, and lots of love. In return, she’ll give you unwavering loyalty and a heart full of affection. Until the profile is removed from the public’s view, this dog is considered available for adoption. To apply to adopt from Just Giants Rescue fill out an online.
