She is incredibly loving at her core, but right now everything feels big and overwhelming to her. New sounds, unfamiliar environments, and sudden movements can startle her easily. On walks, she may need quite a bit of time to feel comfortable enough to go to the bathroom, and when she’s scared, she can shake and try to retreat. This isn’t a dog with any aggression - just a very sensitive girl who hasn’t fully learned to trust her surroundings yet. Her foster is doing exactly what Marena needs: going slow, giving her space, and letting her approach people on her own terms. When guests come over, she does best when they ignore her at first and allow her to build confidence and curiosity before engaging. With time and patience, she does start to come around.
